Saul glanced over at the spectacle that Spi and the human were creating, and the back at... Vaniolle, was it?, and chuckled. "Yes, he can create quite a spectacle when he gets worked up."

Honestly, if Vaniolle thought too much about her lot in life, slavery bothered her, too. It was the only life she'd ever known, and she tended to try and steer her thoughts away from 'what if's; a pragmatist and a realist, she'd done well in the Burrows and had escaped, in her mind, the parts of life as a slave that she had hated. But somewhere in her that she didn't often go, she was still a slave and she knew it, and even deeper was the suspicion, never voiced and hardly even thought, that she would have no idea what to do with true freedom were she given it.

She shook off inklings of those thoughts, however. They never did her any good.

His words prompted her to glance over at where Spi was making his most recent conquest and laugh. "Then again, some do seem to enjoy the most basic entertainment without fail." She thought about it, tapped her chin in theatrical thought. "However, I have been hankering for some variation in my routine lately. Maybe next time I face Falia I'll ask for some easy beginner's instrument and hunt you down to teach me."

Saul's thoughts were... not very similar to hers, at all. Where she seemed to accept this life, he still hadn't given up hoping that he'd be free again some day. It may not look very likely right now, but he'd never really expected to play music again, either.

For the present, however, there were other things to consider. He nodded at her, and "I would enjoy teaching you, or anyone at all to be honest. Not many people are interested in the actually learning part." He grinned. "I have to be honest here, I'm not the most skilled at teaching. I'll give it my best shot, though. Another musician to play with would be most welcome."
