This time there was only a door to the left, as they hadn't gone far enough to get past the empty room where Hannah had heard the giggling. When they went through the door, they found themselves in pitch darkness. Hannah lit the room with a flame, and in the brief moment they could see a puddle of slime could be seen in the middle of the room, slowly taking a vaguely humanoid shape... "I don't see anything to light, this is going to be tough if we can't see."

Upon catching a glimpse of the slime, Mei is on guard again. With the darkness there to hamper them and nothing to safely light for visibility, she could only think of one other thing. "Back away into the corridor. Let's see if it follows us, we'll be at a much more even footing if there's at least some light." the fighter said, padding her way backwards into the hall.

The two quickly back out of the room and wait. After a few minutes it seems clear that the slime has no intention of following them.

After a few minutes of silence, it became clear that they wouldn't get the slime away from it's haunt. "Did you see if there was anything useful? I'd not like to leave the room unexplored, but fighting that goop in the dark seems a daunting task. I'm pretty sure it can detect us somehow, even in the complete blackness. Or do we have something to light?" Mei asked Hannah, closing the door if the mage had no good suggestions. If that happened, she'd switch to the other door.

"If I were a better mage I'd be able to light the space around us, but I can't. I couldn't really get a good look at what was in the room in that little bit of time, I was focused on trying to see the thing we would be fighting. We could probably go back and get a few candles from one of the other rooms, and in fact I probably should have thought of that already..." Hannah said, starting to sound more than a little bit disappointed in herself.

"Oh yes.. Guess we'll do that. Let's get some from the lizardman's room, there was a plentiful amount of the things in there.." the fighter said, leading Hannah back to fetch a few candles with her. Now equipped with some light, they'd be able to see into the room if disturbing the slime could be worth it.

The two trek back to the lizardman's room and pick up a few candles, then head back to the room with the slime. Looking inside, they can't see much of interest, though there is a door behind the slime as well. They would need to decide what they were going to do quickly, as the slime seemed to be preparing to attack them.

Setting aside the candles, Mei prepared for a fight as the slime seemed to be coming for them. She was curious about the door behind it, and wanted to see what was in there. "Alright slimey, prepare to get wasted." she said, moving forward to get the first attack in.

"Br...br...briiiiiighttttttt" the slime moaned out as the two of them brought the candles into the room and prepared for battle. In the flickering light of the candles, the pair of adventurers got a better look at it; it was pitch black and took a vaguely feminine form, though it had no legs, simply ending in a puddle. Perhaps the thing that stuck out the most was that the thing didn't seem to have given itself true eyes, simply hollow sockets. Mei-Lien rushed forward while the thing seemed stunned by the light, and got in a good kick to its head, which seemed to do damage despite the goopy nature of the slime. Hannah followed up with two quick fireballs that slammed into the slime, evaporating some of it and shrinking the puddle around the main body. Mei-Lien prepared herself for a counter-attack, but there didn't seem to be one incoming until she felt a coldness around her legs. Before she could react, tendrils of blackness snaked up her body and seemed to force their way into her pores, though it had no effect on her. Hannah didn't seem to be so lucky, and she screamed out as she fell to her knees. "What... is... this...?"

Mei had faced slimes before, so it was not a surprise to her that the female-shaped jelly took damage from her kick. Hannah's follow-up created some confidencce in her as well, the twin balls of fire both evaporating some of the slime's component matter. After witnessing the creeping darkness work itself into her, the fighter moved forward to attack again as it didn't seem to affect her in any way, for now..

Mei-Lien attacks again, but this time her kick meets a hardened portion of the slime, and it seems to have no effect. Meanwhile, Hannah fires off several more fireballs, only one of them hitting the slime, which repeats its strange darkness attack. This time Hannah is prepared and manages to burn the darkness off of her, but Mei-Lien feels the effects this time. Suddenly, as the darkness creeps into her pores she feels an almost crippling pain through her body, though it only lasts a brief moment before things return to normal.

Coming out with another kick, the fighter finds her attack intercepted by a quickly-hardened piece of the slimegirl's body this time around. After Hannah's partial success, another darkness attack it made towards them. Their roles go reversed this time, with Mei feeling the pain briefly as it flashes through her firm body. It was a strange feeling, having her entire form agonized at the same time. "Shit.. that was nasty..." the redhead thought as the pain subsided. Luckily, it wasn't a long attack.

With the pain away, the fighter girl moved on with the attack, wanting to finish the fight as quickly as possible.

(Roll two rounds per thing, mah boi, or more if you want. This will be a long and tedious thing with just one round per post.)

Mei-Lien moved quickly to punch at the slime's face, which the slime promptly hardened in anticipation; this opened the way for the fighter to twirl around and deliver a kick to its midsection, causing it to wiggle and shift as it seemed to get shorter. Unfortunately Mei-Lien's assault on the slime made it hard for Hannah to aim at it, and her fireballs both sailed slightly wide. The slime repeated its darkness attack again, which didn't seem to affect either girl when it hit them; perhaps it was only useful so many times. Hannah was unprepared, however, for the quick attack of a tendril of hard darkness, which slapped her across the face and tripped her up. She was looking to be in trouble already, and the slime was far from finished.

With a twirl following a blocked strike to a hardened face, Mei planted a spinning kick to the slime's side. The thing wobbled around after the impact, giving mei some cenfirmation that she had managed to hit the thing with enough force to cause damage. Another creeping darkness was sent at them, but the fighter shrugged the attack away with her force of will.

Seemingly out of darkness now, the slime proceeded slap Hannah around. Giving a slight grunt of annoyance, Mei rushed against the thing even harder in an effort to draw attention away from the mage and towards herself.

Mei-Lien tried the same sort of combo attack again, but this time the slime was ready for it, easily reading the fighter's moves; it almost seems to be getting smarter as the fight goes on. Hannah launches a few more fireballs at it, and this time she's able to hit with one of them despite Mei-Lien being a little bit in her way. Still, the slime lashed out at Hannah with tendrils of darkness, and with another firm slap the mage crumpled to the ground, unable to keep fighting. The slime snuffed out some of their candles as it dealt with her, and Mei-Lien could only barely see in the flickering light.

After trying the same one-two at the slime, Mei found it to be a fast learner, as the thing intercepted both her attacks this time. Her attempt at keeping the mage free from attention failed as Hannah was knocked down, simultaneously taking some light away from the battlefield. With the precious little light still there, the fighter was getting slightly excited. This kind of battle was something she needed to do more often.

While Mei was by herself, this didn't mean she'd give any ground to the goop. More fetermined than before, the girl launched herself at the slime again.

Now more determined than ever, Mei-Lien performs the same combo she'd just tried and failed with, almost as if taunting the slime. Her punch lands square in its face, which ripples significantly, and then she gives it a swift kick to its side. The slime wobbles a bit and slowly retreats farther back into its puddle as it lashes out at Mei-Lien with tendrils of darkness, which she easily deflects with her gauntlets, though while this is going on she doesn't notice the darkness that swirls around her and begins to seep into her, until she's hit with that crippling pain again, this time worse and lasting just a little longer.

"Heheee... Not as good as you think..." Mei taunted the slime as she performed the same attack pair for the third time, this time both strikes connecting. As a tendril of darkness slapped into her, the red-haired fighter intercepted the incoming blow with her armguards, but failed to see yet another sneaky attack of the creeping darkness. Another nasty wave washed over her, but she could still shrug it away and continue fighting, mixing up her game a bit more now. The slimegirl would eventually get wise to the same pattern if she repeated it over and over.

Mei-Lien switches it up, this time kicking first and using the other leg, which surprises the slimegirl enough that the fighter makes solid contact. Her punch is deflected, however, and the slimegirl seems to be getting desperate. Mei-Lien barely dodges some of its tendrils of darkness, and then senses something strange above her; she rolls out of the way just in time to avoid a strange platform of solid darkness that falls from the ceiling to the floor where she had just been standing. In the flickering light of the candles she can tell that the slimegirl is starting to have a bit of trouble keeping its form, and the puddle around it continues to shrink. Tentatively the thing points towards Hannah, and then the door they came through.

This sudden development caught Mei slightly off guard. She stopped briefly to adress the slimegirl. "You think I'm going to stop when we've gone this far? No, we're taking this to the end. I came here to see what's behind that other door over there, and I'm not leaving without seeing it myself or if someone else throws my unconscious or dead body away from this room. Unless you're prepared to show me, we will fight more. You may win just to torture and rape me afterwards, or I might win to investigate it after you're gone. But backing down, that's something I won't do. the fighter announced her thoughts clearly and confidently. If the slime made no gesture towards agreeing, she's continue to attack.
