Can we make a rule that if a game is posted there needs to be a link to the game's website, dlsite page, and/or getchu page; and if the game is Japanese, there needs to be the Japanese title somewhere in the post or title, rather than only having the title in the roman alphabet?

Too often a game is posted with a download link with no easy way of knowing what the heck it is, requiring a google search to find out, and if the only supplied information is the romanized title of a Japanese game, and you can't translate, even google might not help.

people should just use the english translated version.

Re: New Rules Request

If its a japanese game, you'll find way more information using the japanese name. all there is to it.
Unless there is an active fan group translating the game with their own website that shares information about said game, I feel the only way to ever find some of these games is with a link to their japanese site or DLsite.

There are way too many random RPGmaker games with simple names that will make a google search come up fruitless.

edit: as a side note, if for some reason they still can't find the J-Site or DLsite link, at least post some screenshots.

Re: New Rules Request

yeah, but it would also be nice if people posting a game in here would include something like "Voice language: < English or Japanese > Text language: < English or Japanese > Patches: Voice (y/n/na) Text (y/n/na)"

Re: New Rules Request

i never experienced any problems with the way of posting games here.
am i such a pro when it comes to using the internet? its always just a google search.

furthermore, i would assume, that 98% of games posted here are japanese voice and text. hell, i'll never assume anything to be in english and uncensored. thats just so damn rare, why does a poster have to write japanese text/voice & censored all the time?
there is a dlsite link almost every time. isn't it enough information?

I only post games if there in english,or they have a english patch.

Re: New Rules Request

also shouldn't this be in the general section of the site? considering were not actually discussing any games, nor or any links provided.

Re: New Rules Request

Good grief, how ungrateful can you people be? Do I need to remind you that you are downloading stuff for free when someone else had to pay for it? It's like you guys are getting free sandwiches but complaining about the lack of free drinks and crisps. Get over it you lazy bones.

Re: New Rules Request

I agree that there should be a link to DLsite, but perhaps for a different reason. I think if you're posting something for free, you should at least provide a link to a legitimate means of buying it, or a name you can go by to find it yourself.

There have been a few times when I've wanted to actually buy a game, but there were no links or any means of finding the real source. Multiply that by a hundred and the author just missed out on a solid number of customers they may not have had before.

Re: New Rules Request

Some of these things would be nice, but quite frankly as long as it's free and clean of viruses I don't really care. More often than not someone will download it and want to discuss it so you'll only need to wait a week or so if the OP doesn't want to give you any real information.

Re: New Rules Request

I'm not sure this is where this particular topic should be either, but while it's here, I'm going to chime in.

A good game post is easy to quantify: it's very informative. A good post has The title of the game (especially if it has both the original Japanese title and a translated or romanized version), language(s), link to the origin of the game (DLsite, creator's blog, etc, the more the better), runtime environment (rpgmaker, etc, if applicable), some images of gameplay and CGs from the game, and a short description of what to expect.

The more a post is lacking, the less good it is. Simple.

Re: New Rules Request

sometimes gathering said information is a pain to gather. or said information doesn't exist.

p.s most games I post on this site can be bought either at their host company site,or mangagamer.com they publish a lot of games I post.
also sells eroge, and adult styled games. g-collections is another major publisher that has there games translated.
