Hi all, Ninhalf/HgameArtMan here(I sorta ended up with a split username in development.... oops?)
Horny Mage Academy: Dark Tower is a top-down action-RPG inspired by such games as Violated Heroine.
It's currently in development and in need of some feedback!

The game currently contains a mixture of time-management and dungeon-crawling, along with the expected
bit of lewdness!

Planned content is extensive, but expect everything from romancing your classmates to... getting attacked by a tribe of cat-people?

And the expected consiquences of such debachary, of course.

You can't open the menu? That's odd, it always opens for me with just the escape key.

What area were you in, and what were you doing when the menu wouldn't open? If it wouldn't open from the start that's a bit odd.

No wonder I couldn't open it- I am used to opening it with the "X" key in RPGmaker games, which seems to have been disabled in this one. You should notify the player if the cannot open the menu with the X key is intentional.

I completely forgot that X was a default key for the menu! The combat scripts are overwriting it I think, as X is bound to a skill hotkey. I'll add a note into the tutorial, thanks!

My first thoughts, as I play, unedited- Maybe it will have some kind of feedback in there, either way the game is kinda nice

Art seems kinda simple, but not bad
Semester is misspelled, unless that's an in-world way of saying it, or a day like monday
The people in this intro are walking very, very slowly. Can I make them go faster? In fact, all this movement seems slow. Time to go turn on always dash
And it doesn't really show or tell me much, maybe this guide just sucks at his job
So which of these is the MC? Is the MC a girl or can we fuck these girls? How does this one work? Oh. That one. I was hoping to get them as my toys but this works for a game

Great feedback, thanks! I'll be coming back and re-doing the artwork I have now in a year or so, when my skills have improved.

There are no animals in the kitchen minigame, all the fruits and veggies are

The standard walking speed is kinda slow, I always enable auto-dash, but then end up having to turn it off for testing so it works either way.
Speaking of speed, I'm fairly certain holding enter allows you to speed through dialog and scenes in rpgmaker. It works in Violated Heroine, and at least in development, it worked for me to speed through re-doing the kitchen events a million times.

As for content, the main storyline of the game is connected to a tower that opens up in semester two(which I will certainly fix the spelling of, 3 people I know tested and no one said a word!) Entering at base from just doing semester 1 is pretty challenging from what I remember, which is good. Its sort of a rogue-lite, except with few/no rewards from the main dungeon! (For now... it's really hard, as it turns out, to twist RPGmaker into making semi-procedurally generated levels so I ran out of time).

Cat-people attack you up near the top of what's available, so there's that. Same with the slimes, and they infest you with slime parasites in the waterway if you die, or in combat in special circumstances.

The kitchen imps also attack you at night, although it takes a while(they attack more the more "submissive" you are, but I programmed it to still give rewards if you give in, because I figure if each part-time job starts at low money you're going to do the old ones a bit more anyway, so might as well spread the content out. Might tweak the speed later.

Current Bugs
-Anya's scenes sometimes fail to recover from a fade-to-black. It seems to be skipping the fade-in somewhere, but it needs a bit more debugging to figure out exactly why.
(WORKAROUND) Open Menu-Debug Menu- Fade In
-Range errors on enemies. This one's a doozy, I might have to get rid of the mid-combat scenes entirely if it doesn't go away. I'll see what I can do to fix it first, but more savepoints in the dungeon should help in the meantime.
-Movement breakdown after slime loss - I thought I had this fixed, but it cropped up again in the weirdest of times...
(WORKAROUND)Facing right before defeat seems to be a workaround... somehow

  • Added a new map! – Currently, only floors 1 and 2, and the grounds are supported, but more to come later
    -Added a recipe list – Located in the “Encylopedia” menu option, this lists all your known recipes, as well as the required ingredients for each
  • The corrupt church is open! Break curfew and explore the castle after dark when you’re a little more comfortable with combat, but beware. There’s a reason the upper floors are off-limits after dark…
  • Added curses- Obtained through events in the corrupt church, these serve as a counterpart to
    blessings.
  • Added Church Volunteering! Available to almost all(High levels of corruption excluded), these activities are available from the priestess in the regular church during the afternoon. Angels can be called upon to remove blessings from those with unwanted blessings… for a cost

  • Added 4 new classes – Potions 2, Elementalism Intro, Magic Archery 2, and Fire 1 – With 1 new skill and 1 new skill-upgrade

  • Added a new, updated boss to the end of the sewers – Higher-difficulty than before!
  • Enabled dashing by default and removed the option to turn it off. Everything from the size of the maps to the hitboxes are designed with auto-dash enabled, so hopefully this reduces issues.
  • Added signposts to each floor on the main stairwell.
  • Added a mass knockback to the first second of combat, to keep enemies from spawning on top of you while you’re still loading in.
  • Adjusted base unarmed attack-Higher range and KB, higher CD
    • this applies to enemies as well

- These events happen in a variety of ways at the tavern. Most male Students and villagers are eligible for these events, but be careful! Some are a bit more... excitable than others, and you might not be able to please everyone right at the start...
-Prostitution requires you to have previous experience somehow, while you have to be aroused or drunk to trigger one-night stands. Both are functionally the same content. These will be expanded over time as I create new animations and artwork for the game.

-Added Nekomata birth scenes!
-Added a nursery to the Nekomata Village! With, of course, some interesting events....

-Added a second stairway above the dorms for easier access to the second floor

It may be a little different, and I'm not entirely sure it works 100% with no crashes (only a few hours of testing so far) So report any issues you have and try to mix it up with save-point saves in your room to be safe!

KNOWN ISSUES-
Saving in front of NPCs can cause you to glitch into said NPCs, getting you stuck.
WORKAROUND- Encyclopedia now has an emergency escape option. Works just like using the map to travel back to the dorms (takes a time period) but doesn't need map access to work.

And don't save right in front of NPCs is also good..

- Added Book Club - Join a new character (Eilana) and help her revitalize the library's book club!
-Rewards -> Eilana likes you more, a sense of pride and accomplishment....

And a masturbation scene, as well as increased INT from reading the books, and over time Mana Regeneration increases!

-Added 2 scenes to Eilana's storyline. These are accessable through befriending her in the book club and showing genuine interested in the club by reading each book you read together to its end.

- Added a new Secrets Passageway System!
- These secrets are hidden throughout the castle's current 3 levels, creating a network of passageways for those clever enough to find them.
-Discovered passageways will automatically be added to your map menu, under a new "Secrets" Option that can be toggled to view these areas
at will. When toggled, the passages themselves will also be easier to see while not on the map.

- Added 5 new classes - Basic Meditation, Basic Shielding, Fire Bolt 2, Splash Wave 2, and Basic Teleportation
- Added 5 new skills corrosponding to the above classes

-Added Basic Teleportation- A skill to travel quicker throughout the world
-Requires Teleportation Crystals to use
-These are both craftable, as well as available to purchase from the village shop after Semester 4

-Several new materials are available inside the dungeon! These vary in obtaining (field gathering, monster drops, etc) and are not currently used in anything yet. Spawn frequency, location and resource appearances may also need tweaking in the future.

Changes
-Added floor maps to the first 2 floors, positioned near the staircases with a marker (A small red circle) for your current location
-Made night a tiny bit darker
-Changed some prereqs for Basic Recall and Sleeping magic to better structure the class tree for that section of the school

Bugfixes
- Spending time with Andrew when no event played used two time blocks instead of just one
-Fixed the fire Elemental classroom only entering classes when stepping
on the central transport
-Fixed the stats screen thinking your always corrupt, even if your purity is high
-Fixed Gardening club planter hitboxes
-Fixed imp birth never happening, causing perpetual, and rather confusing, pregnancy with imps!

Known Issues
-Gardening club plants don't seem to die properly in some cases... Probably need a bit of refactoring still for that code
- Choosing classes can be kind a pain, and is growing worse the more classes are added. UI needs a complete rework, hope to get to that soon and make it much more friendly to navigate.
-Workaround- Escape or cancel will cycle to the next class immediately.
-Re-assigning skills is a little confusing, UI needs to display which skill is already assigned to which button.
-Freeze when doing church work without any blessings

Misc Thoughts
-Passageway visibility on the map seems a little meh to me still, thinking of adding an arrow to the animation pointing in the general direction of
the passageway to help orient the player as to where they will end up.

- Changed the slime reaction scene of Anya's to occur anytime after you've been attacked by slimes, not just futher into her storyline.

- Made some behind-the-scenes changes to how stats are capped, which has no visible effects on the game(but a few non-visible effects, particularly on equipment!)

- Nekomata children, when they grow up, don't leave immediately, instead sticking around for one more drink
- Freeze and black screen when blessing manipulation occurs during Church Volunteering events with no blessings currently held
- Characters in dorms dissapear when you save or leave occassionally, until you re-enter
- Skill UI needs an update, at least to show what's on what hotkey
- Potions 2- Assignment appears too early (before request from teacher)
- Floor 2 dungeon- Monsters and Traps despawn when you leave and enter the room
- Corruption text changes to corrupt when you're blessed by angels the first time
- Class selection overhaul needed- Sort of in the works? The selection dialogs in the new crafting system are an early prototype build for it
- Brighten no longer usable in combat, need to fix it/add some sort of "Field Skill" Hotkey or something...

-Added a new boss- The NekoMata Hoard!
-Added seasons- these have almost no effect, and don't show up visually yet. The game starts in spring at the start of the game, as well as when you update, and progresses spring, summer, fall, winter as each semester passes. This only has effect in the nekomata boss for now, as winter reduces the pollen's effect on the field.
-Added 5 new levels to the dungeon! These are unfinished, and will likely be expanded later, but for now...
-Added a new enemy to the dungeon - the WereWolf! - This uses a new doggystyle animation if you're caught by his roar while aroused!
-Added new artwork and animation varients- Restrained Mating Press - used during the nekomata boss
-Added 1 new classes, Artifacts: Metalworking

-Current funcitonality is sparce, you can only call your mom, but future updates are planned to allow for a more robust relationships system (IE: repeatable scenes and requests are moved here to avoid slowing down building relationships)
-Takes the place of the encyclopedia in the menu,
but also includes the encyclopedia as an app for easy access

Pay raises based on your experience, Purity, and Medical Abilities!
-Currently only the basic level is available, higher levels will require Purity to unlock, and come with new scenes and rewards.

-Fixed struggling on the nekomata hoard boss's female nekomatas causing image to freeze on screen

Known Errors-

-Classes are a bit wonky since V0.8.0. I'm using a new method of class implementation to try and dynamically set them up, including prereqs, and I think it's a little buggy, particularly with displaying the classes when selecting new ones.
-Some ingredients in the waterway dungeon despawn improperly upon switching maps
-Many enemies in waterway and school 2nd floor dungeons despawn as well
Floors after the Nekomata boss feel a little wonky. Lag, bad spawn placements, and sometimes hoards of werewolves gang-roaring you wonky.
-Map glitches when used inside dungeon or area with no current map
-Sometimes the nurse's PTJ will... stutter during diagnostics work. I'll to to optimize the code, but RPGmaker's random generation isn't the most optimal. It's usually hanging up on blocking duplicates from showing up, I think.
-Stocking for PTJ is kinda boring and a gold-sink(though kinda needed with how profitable the PTJ is...) Will be improved later with specialized "Medicines" unlocking more fun events if you stock them, and general PTJ reward upgrades later on.
-Anya's new Side-Story blocks random nightly events... Will be fixed later on when the side-story is expanded and updated
-Classes desperately need a UI update for choices, as it's getting really unwieldy. Will be a priority for next update.
-Game-breaking freeze on church Paperwork Event if you have no blessings.

-Human Birth-Checkup 1 has been added. It occurs around day 4, and is mostly flavor text giving a few vague warnings

-Can change up basic visual-audio effects to start with!
-No idea how to implement this with the mac version. Just threw the override folder into the default directory.

-Possibly an error will occur with the music in certain scenes. I had a deployment issue and had to re-name all music implemented this update, but I'm not sure I got all of them, so report any you find that give you an error with the track name and location/event you were in so I can fix it!
-Possible errors with Firebolt 2's assignment in the assignments journal causing crashes- Not sure if this is my buggy test-save.... or a real error happening on stable games
-Nekomata boss needs clear UI indicators for its waves and finishing
-Stocking flips pages needlessly when you choose to buy something in the nurse's aid PTJ
-New combat classes possibly not showing up under "available" courses even when you meet basic prereqs - Workaround- instead of "Only Available" choose "View All Classes"
