Offbeatr closing down this month

I figured this would be somewhat relevant as this place was the first attempt online, AFAIK, to make a porn version of Kickstarter; however, due to a lot of (IMO) bad marketing and interface/technical choices, it never really caught on.
Locked credit minimums for products you put up and a REALLY confusing interface were the main complaints I had with it when trying to use it.

This still kinda came out of the blue to me though, I had no idea it was closing down, so yeah, figured this is something relevant to the hentai games community for a lot of reasons.

Fenoxo of CoC was the only person who I ever heard of using it successfully. He's now making 16,000 a month on Patreon though sooo...

I got an email about it, I couldn't find anywhere on the site about it either, but both emails about it were official ones from their email account they'd used to contact me in the past.

Might be something they're only sending the people who uploaded content on it, etc.

sad ... now i'm worry about kimochi .. their forum is kinda slow, their patreon is slow too at 291$

Bear in mind he has a team of people (I know for a fact Savin is permanent staff on the project) and a loose collection of commissioned artists, plus the server costs for running the site and whatever patreon takes as their percentage, he's looking at a reasonable monthly salary if he's frugal. And since he's technically on the clock 24/7 that's not really as much as he ought to be earning.

Bear in mind he has a team of people (I know for a fact Savin is permanent staff on the project) and a loose collection of commissioned artists, plus the server costs for running the site and whatever patreon takes as their percentage, he's looking at a reasonable monthly salary if he's frugal. And since he's technically on the clock 24/7 that's not really as much as he ought to be earning.

Ah, okay. Seems more normal now. Always looking forward to his new stuff, regardless.

iirc, they came in at an awkward time a little after the first successes of mainstream video games on kickstarter and indiegogo, but not long before they were eclipsed by Patreon.

The big kicker was they were solely limited to vanilla porn - someone once explained that this was because a lot of porn transactions are fraught with fraud and thus payment processors avoid or heavily regulate it -excluding tons of fetish content that IMO make the most money on the internet.

The only hard, specific rules I remember seeing were no loli and no bestiality. Been a while since I checked though.

The "no bestiality" one is why I couldn't care less that they are shutting down. I pretty much started ignoring Offbeatr when I saw that.

No rape? That's hilarious considering how pervasive non-con is in H-games.

Evil Goddess must have flown under the radar. There are some Patreons that have gotten away with breaking their rule of "no public posts with adult content". I think both services probably rely on people reporting such things more than policing it themselves (they'd have to hire people to do just that).
