(OOC) DND Unchained Chat

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

Those are gone too, but not because they're banned.

I was hungry.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

You know, I can't help but feel we're in need of either a roll call, or a more lenient time limit on posting.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

People can pop in and out when needed, they won't lose anything for it other than maybe some chances to give input to the plot. But if the mood ever strikes them to return, they can. It's my way of trying to solve an RP dying because of slackers.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

I've decided to try and give some incentives to contribute to plot or keep the action rolling. When it comes to giving you a direction to go, it seems the most often result is that people will ask a question or prefer to talk while no one seems keen on replying or keeping a conversation going. Just a one-off and then conversation and henceforth, progress ceases.

If I deem that nothing is happening and no one is really moving forward, time will pass, to give you all incentive to actually do something. And when time passes, bad people do things.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

I for my part felt unwanted when trying to push the plot, to encounter a goblin puking on my character in response, not suprised this has already devolved into 'do stuff or I punish you!'

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

The general unwanted response wasn't just me, to answer your bringing that event back up. The goblin puking was a gesture made that was more of a slap on the wrist to answer to behavior that was in general, not desirable. An error on my part since it was an assumption made that the actions taken would be perceived as wrong by the person who performed them, which they weren't, and aren't.

The problem of true lack of direction still remains, you aren't wrong about that. But the direction you brought had multiple accounts of people frustrated with the dangers that came with it. You brought forward momentum, but it landed the group in situations they didn't like. And for all the forward momentum it brought, it also completely ignored the desires of the group.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

I don't really think that your incentive is really going to get people to post more, RJ. Wouldn't be suprised if it actually discouraged participation.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

There's nothing I can do to encourage participation otherwise, with Toxic telling me he's suffering from fatigue in general, the few players left being very passive, I have to find a way to encourage participation.

It also seems that Kaguya is moving, and Siobhan has gone missing from the forum since 2 weeks ago, which explains why they're not posting, because they haven't been here, probably something on their end as well.

If they simply can't help it, then this isn't going to improve the situation. I don't find it motivating either.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

It's not for them, but to give incentive for people currently playing to take only a slight required initiative when posting. You don't need to always do what I requested here, which is just to transition over to the next area, but just giving me the GM something to respond to is enough. Which means you're revealing more of the world/story/situation and giving yourselves more things to think about and accomplish.

You can talk to each other and not make me give some incentive to move along by passing time, as long as the conversation is reciprocated. Which basically means you can just talk and strategize amongst yourselves, as long as there's a conversation. If it's a situation like Weiss offering an idea, and someone's next post is simply, a statement of dislike or disagreement without much more conversation to be had, then you witness time going by to no avail. If I realize that neither GM or any other player is going to or even can add to the situation, then I will advance time. But if you guys are clearly doing something, anything, then I won't make a peep.

In summary, it's a big request to Role Play in the Role Play you're in, and not be a spectator.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

Back again, sorry for disappearing. I'll try to come up with a character soonish.

I forgot, do we start at level one? Point buy?

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

Level 2 and point buy yes. The first level gets you max HP, and past that you take the Level Up HP value in parenthesis, aka the average.

Also, the role for party leader is available, not necessarily charisma required, but you can't go wrong with it since the resident bard is very choosy about using their god granted gift of charm.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

I always get complained at when I take the lead so I'm happy to just step in when a skill needs a solvin'.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

May I ask the current occupants of the party? Is there any roles that need to be filled?

Edit: Would you believe that English is my first language?

For chargen? Not really. Just use point-buy to determine your stats, everything else is a matter of filling in race/class/background.

EDIT: Oh wait, you mean roles. Uh, not sure? We got a cleric, a bard, a barbarian and a sorceress. So go with whatever you want I guess.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

And a Ranger, when Aust chooses to exist. He's always around, just lazy.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

Technically you could do Bard too. I'm aiming for Lore Bard but you could do Sword Bard.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

Unlike normal DnD, more charisma isn't necessarily a waste, since my added rules kind of make it a defensive combat stat as well as a lore stat as well as what it already is. Charisma pretty good now.

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

Well, I decided on making a Paladin/Warlock.

Are we allowed to use the create your own background feature, or only the ones provided?

Re: (OOC) DnD: Unchained Out of Character Chat

Custom is fine. Since it says you can tweak it how you like, I have no argument.
