Malivre listened, humming a bit. Ghouls? If it was the dead, they'd be in serious danger. Still, she might be able to keep them at bay if it really was them. But a more pressing matter before they began.

"Well I'll take the lead and hopefully can ward them off if need be. In the meantime, let's take it slow and make sure that Alia and Lyna are covered. Since she's an archer and all." says Malivre, looking over to the path they were supposed to take.

(He said that a shaman scares the ghouls away. There isn't a ghoul shaman. They're two different people.)

Lyna heard many stories about creatures that fit Gimgir description, usually they were nighttime stories told by her father when she was little about the living dead. Just the mere idea of fighting these horrors made Lyna shiver slightly with fear, though hopefully these creatures were merely a lot alike to those from her father stories.

“T-That sounds like a g-good idea. I will cover the rear, incase they ambush us from behind I can protect Alia.” She said nervously, as she hopefully could avoid fighting such horrors in close combat.

"It's more likely the shaman is beating back the ghouls, not is a ghoul." Alia sighed, shaking her head. Undead. Always a pain in the ass to deal with. If she had the right spell, she could raise some of her own, but alas. That was simply not in the cards. "Let us hope we won't encounter too many of them. Ghouls are hard to put down and dangerous even when unharmed. I'd rather not get to see one too close. Still, a fight may be unavoidable."

"Oh, that explains everything better!" she says, looking at Alia. "So, are we going now? We'll have to fight one anyway, so I bet our casters can think in something while I hold them off. Don't be afraid to hit me with your spells, I'm used to it." she completes in a cheerful tone.

(Remember to be clear whether you're talking to me or other players. I'm not going to break out a codex to decipher intentions hidden in your text addressing your friends. Just to be clear, I don't see anyone wanting to proceed so I'm going to wait until you tell me the good word as a collective.)

The girls proceed East, towards the first known treasure as told by Gimgir. As was expected, there were pale humanoid creatures to be found. They looked like fat ghouls with bald heads and saggy flesh. They wore torn leather that did little to cover their oversized genitals. Two of them were simply shambling about, holding improvised wooden clubs using their fat and infected looking hands. Their eyes were pure white, no iris to be seen. So it was an oddity how they saw the girls approaching and gave a groan. "Flesh..." they moaned out, while Gimgir was of a mind to step back, the sight of the creatures terrifying the weak little goblin.

The creatures looked incredibly strong, but slow. Their flesh also looked as Gimgir said, very tough.

Moving along, they encountered the ghouls in short order. Funny, the stories had them gaunt and lean, with sharp claws and fangs. The feralness seemed on point, though she had heard ghouls that didn't drop into instinct were intelligent and dangerous. And then there was ghasts...

In any case, she had no desire to be prey to these fat slow mockeries of life, and pulled her holy symbol into her hand, holding it forth as she affixed the beasts with her gaze. "Dark mockeries of life, know the power of the dragon god and slink back into the darkness you hold so dear!," she barked, channeling Aasterian's might.

Unfortunately it seemed like her god was a little distracted today or found her wanting, as it didn't seem to be working.

Alia eyed the creatures with distaste. Foul monsters, little more than putrid mockeries of human form. Whoever put them down would end up doing the world a great favor. As she eyed the slow-moving freaks, an idea came to the mage. But first she'd have to confirm it. Glancing at her new minion, she called out to the retreating goblin. "Gimgir! What sort of magic did the shaman use to drive them back?"

"Light, huh? Thought as much..." Alia muttered. She didn't know a fire spell that'd be of any use, sadly. But magical light? She could do that, oh yes. Malivre's torch could also be useful. Raising her scythe up, the mage channeled a mote of her power, grimacing at the creeping exhaustion. If this continued then she'd need to find a place to rest fairly soon. But for now, she had magics to work. "Light!" She called out, her scythe shining brightly as she invoked her spell. She kept waving her glowing weapon at the freaks, watching their reactions carefully.

(Light, 1 HP, ten minute duration, cast on weapon.)

As Mali tried to call upon a greater power, it did nothing, while Alia coated her weapon in light, an act which had the two Pales looking at the light with a bit of aversion. One even taking a step back and covering his eyes. The two creatures still seemed to want to fight, but they now seemed to have an aversion to fighting Alia, and avoid her.

(They suffer a -1 Morale penalty)

Instead, they charge Celeste and Malivre, swinging their clubs!

It seemed their powerful arms weren't just for show, as both girls were hit very hard, with Malivre almost falling to the ground from the sheer power!

Celeste was silently following her partners, aware of any type of enemy to happen of attacking the group in silence. She knew they would have to kill their new "follower", but Celeste wanted to do it sooner than later.

Suddenly, her dozing mind comes back to reality as two new enemies appear before her. Without thinking twice, Celeste lunges herself at the ghoul that is protecting his face from Alia's light weapon.

Lyna moved with the group, guardian the back from any hostile creatures that might sneak up behind them. There was some hesitation in her movements, as her father always warned her about the undead and that she should steer clear from them. Although Lyna was scared beyond belief she moved on with her new companions, determined to repay them for rescuing her.

Lyna froze when she cast her eye upon two horrid foul creatures, although they somewhat resembled the description of her father, they were far more horrifying than anything she had seen before. The sight made Lyna tremble in fear, though as soon as her new companions moved to strike the beasts, she was able to swallow her fear and began to knock back an arrow in her bow. As her hand were trembling she would take aim at the one that just took a blow from Celeste and tried aiming square from the creatures forehead.

After her attempted shot, she would shuffle closer to the Alia as the light seemed to scare them off, finding somewhat solace being close to light.

Lyna's arrow missed her mark! In addition, it looked like the Pale was bleeding from where Celeste struck it, suggesting they may be living creatures.

Malivre cries out in pain, backing up and attempting to heal herself with a curse. They were strong! And... Not undead? How the hell did the shaman make them back off?!

For now she focused on healing herself before she went down.
