May 2010, become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Geo Corporation as a result of share transfer.

Geo Corporation is based in Florida.
It would be interesting to know where the actual Dlsite servers are based, considering that legality is usually based around the actual location of the website content. Also, the USA is the modern day Sodom, so 2D porn isn't illegal. I mean, beastiality is still legal in some areas.

The game will keep as intended.

He said that he wants to make this game a legend, fuck money.
Called it.
Poring's known to have strong outbursts tho...
I think he went a bit too strong in the other direction. He was originally aiming for 6 areas and is now thinking of making it 7.
While I agree there is a lot of potential in a gimmik based platformer, and Poring's sense of eroticism usually manages to surprise me, it's also true that he gets bored easily.

For instance, his previous game Devil Legion stops evolving after the 3rd world entirely. You stop getting new allies, and there are just tons of older enemies and tons of particles on the screen. That game is great, but even though so much sex happens in it, the game loses all eroticism in the lategame as his method of scaling difficulty is to just throw more stuff at you.

If he designed the game around unique challenges, like the game Pikmin, then he wouldn't have had that issue in Devil Legion.

Anyway... I'm concerned about him making the game longer.

Also, this guy still hasn't sold Devil Legion on itch.io
He's getting all depressed that he can't reach the western audience when he hasn't done any basic outreach.

They should have multiple.

With over 6 million users they'd have trouble if anything went wrong so they definitely need that redundancy. Download speeds in other countries would be abysmall without that redundancy as well. I wouldn't put it past them to have servers both in Japan, in the States, and somewhere in Europe... Most likely France since french consumers love Japanese media.

Ah, I see. Fortunately, the Geo Group you're referring to and the Geo Group DLSite belong to are not one and the same.

Here's the Florida based one's

And here's the Japanese based one's

They do totally different things, totally different investments, totally different logo.

We should also keep in mind that, while Steam is a bust, Poring is still making over four grand USD on patreon a month to develop this which is a tidy sum (and actually earned).

And he doesn't live in an expensive country. He's southeast asian. 4 grand is way more there than it is in the USA.

are H games really that profitable on steam? I'd never buy there. I actually know some of my steam friends IRL. "hey uhhhhh what the fuck is castle of temptation?"
Nothing compares to amount of sales on steam and this also goes for eroge.
Poring should have done "sfw version with nsfw patch" to make sure it gets accepted, because for unknown reasons 2d eroge get inconsistently banned not only for loli/shota, but also rape and gore/snuff fetishes.

Poor standards mean cheaper food and services, but on the other hand it comes with imported goods being scarce and more expensive.
Also Taiwan is part of East Asia.

He's been eating paint if he thought this was going to be on steam. Least he's (apparently) still going to work on it if I understand it correctly. Still though, the hell was he expecting?

If I am informed correctly his previous game was released on Steam, so why should he assume his next game shouldn't?

Holy crap. Devil Legion had a Steam Release? I guess it's the Evenicle 1 and 2 situation all over again.

Actually i'm surprised it isn't on Steam already because the level he submitted is pretty tame. Theres no definitively under-age characters in Obsidian halls, i guess according to Poring the real issue was that height difference between all of the other girls and the boss who is tall af by comparison. There is far worse on Steam right now than CoT in terms of questionable characters.

Either way, the latest news is that he intends on cleaning it up and resubmitting at a later date. He may or may not be talking to an 'agent' of sorts to figure out precisely what needs to be changed, but either way Poring has said it's full speed ahead, though he admits that there might be two versions of the game at the end -- Whichever game will be allowed on Steam and the version that has his original vision fully infact.

Bad news -- the dev was banned from Steam again and hes already down because he fell off a ladder and got injured last week. The Dev talked about basically just wrapping up the game ASAP if he couldn't get on Steam before since it makes his game much less profitable and he'd probably rather work on something that that could potentially be approved by Steam.

Is steam really that profitable? I thought most people bought h games off DLsite or even itch io.

Edit: apparently I posted the same thing not that long ago. This proves how genuine my shock and lack of understanding that steam as a storefront is a deal breaker. The man makes bank on Patreon. He's gonna keep making bank. Who cares? This also worries me because if he stops development to make something "more profitable" what....is it gonna be some shitty dating sim or something?

Have they explained WHY they won't let it on?

Let me put it this way.

'Latex Dungeon' ( ) is a game that first appeared on DLsite in April 2021, since that time it has sold about 6800 copies, the same game, albeit uncensored came to Steam in mid march and has sold over 30,000 copies since that time (according to the dev), not only that, but Steam's cut of your profits is much less than that of DLsite, which takes between 40-50% of the sale, whereas Steam takes between 20-30%, there values change based on how many you sell, there are contract details that i am not privy to, but basically Steam has explosive sales potential, it also doesn't generally require petty mosaic censorship which is just straight up annoying.

using extremely fuzzy math, that adds up to about 35k Dlsite take home income and 210k (at least) from Steam. So yeah, its a pretty big deal.

Latex dungeon is a pretty good game, it has very twisted, Giger-esque abominations that are integrated with the sexualized female form, but in my opinion it's quality as a game pales in comparison to Castle of Temptation. Theres no telling how much Poring stands to lose by not being allowed to sell his game on the biggest platform, but its likely very substantial.

By the way, i guess the latest news is that Steam identified him as a user who had been previously banned, so rather than review the game based on the changes he made, they banned him again for circumventing the previous ban. I don't know if theres any other recourse for him now in regards to this, it even puts into question future work since he would have now been banned in two separate occasions.

Mmm, but Attack it! Devil legion is still there...
I was under the impression that the 767 patreons were funding the game so it is released. I might misunderstand how this Crowdfunding fad works.
I also think Poring should delay the next area by 1-2 years, and the release by 3-4 years more, to make up for the deficit.

...sarcasm aside, there's no reason to delay anything (other than falling down the stairs, which is a valid reason when true). All he needs is a publisher, like the Mango guys who took in Devil Legion. All of this is unrelated to development entirely. Worry about it once you get the product ready to sell 🤷‍♂️
