Sarah hesitated. On the one hand, her goal had been to escape, and she'd done that. The other girls would probably accept her apology to Ashley as sincere, now, and she'd experienced most of what Ashley had.

On the other hand, she hadn't experienced *everything* that Ashley had, and she was sorry, now. Maybe going back in, making sure she'd had worse then Ashley, was the only way to really believe herself that she was sorry. And she also felt sorry for Al, for all that he was an NPC. Maybe that wasn't fair, maybe the Egg modeled personality enough for him to count as real.

But she did have an apology to make, and that was more important. Al... would be here when she got back. And she would come back.

Sarah selected the save and quit option, the world fading away to black before she found herself back in the EGG, sitting up and finding herself as per usual outside the EGG, checking the time, she'd only spent two and a half hours inside.

Sarah surreptitiously felt her jeans, making sure they weren't wet.

Like usual, they weren't. Stepping out of the EGG and stretching, Sarah felt a little hungry. Being someone whose tested before, she was used to not having anyone be there when she got out by now, they generally only did that for first time testers.

Sarah heads to the front to make another appointment for tomorrow, intending to find Ashley afterward.

Sarah is easily able to make an appointment for the next day, reserving an EGG for use. As she's preparing to leave, she sees Ashley and some of others entering the building.

"Ah, Ashley. I, um, wanted to say that I was sorry. It wasn't funny to change the settings, it was just cruel. I went and tried them out, and it was... terrible. I'm going to go in again tomorrow, so that I'm sure I've had even worse then you, and if you ask me to I'll do it again until you say I'm done. Even then, I'll understand if you don't forgive me, but I am sorry."

"Hrm. Well. I'm not sure just going in willingly can ever be the same as what I did, but at least you made the effort. I forgive you, and I'd take it kindly if any sort of punishment were to stop. But don't expect us to be friends again. We're not, and I'm not sure I'll ever trust you again, not really."

Ashley turned away from the girl, and started speaking quietly to her. Sarah supposed that was all. Ashley had always been a forgiving person, and Sarah couldn't really expect any more from her. At least not yet. Maybe tomorrow after she returned to the Egg she could honestly say she'd had worse, and she could start repairing their friendship, at least a little. But even that much felt good. It was a start.

Sarah smiled to herself. "Chapter One", perhaps.

Having talked to Ashley, Sarah returns home for the evening, returning the next day. She's informed she's all set to return to the EGG and does so, sitting down and loading up her game.

The void returns as the game loads, the game returning to the few moments before she logged out, the girl repeating what she said about the guardian before she logged out.

Sarah experiences a sense of deja vu as the scene repeats, exactly as it was before. By the end of it, she's re-oriented herself, and made her decision. She stops walking, and looks back the way she came.

"Someone should help him, and if this town has been here any length of time, it's clear that it'll have to be me. I could return the clothes, if you like. It's not like I'll probably keep them long if I go back in there. Or you could join me, if he helped you out as well..."

The girl waves off returning the clothes. "Keep them. Some of us have tried. It's very hard to find him again. And....none of us know how to fight, we wouldn't be of any aid to him. And as much as we are glad for him saving us...he was a very evil man, that is why he was cursed with such a task. And besides...if he leaves, or passes on...who will remain to guide young girls like yourself out?"

"Yea, well, he saved me and I think he should at least be given the choice to be freed."

The girl nods. "Then good luck to you. Perhaps after all this time he does deserve the chance to rest." She says, a small smile on her face, seemingly glad that Sarah ignored what she just said. "Oh...please, take this, it may be of aid to you."

She hands Ai a small green gem. "This is an item that is often passed around the town, it was once a gift by the guardian to one of the girls. It's said that as long as you have it with you, it will protect you from damage to your clothing, and I've heard it also grants good luck."

Luckstone: +1 Atk/Def. Clothes immune to damage.

"Well, thank you. I suppose there's no point in waiting around, so I'll see you again if I make it out. Or if I can't find him."

Sarah took the gem, found a place for it among her few possessions, and started back towards the entrance.

Sarah reentered the labyrinth, the girl behind her smiling as she waved goodbye to her, Sarah could see a little bit of tears in her eyes, as if she wished she could join her.

Walking back down the hallway, Sarah finds herself back at the intersection that Al had left her at, it was a three way intersection, including the way she game, she could either continue straight or take the side path to the right.

Sarah called out to the cursed man, then turned right, having no real reason to prefer any other direction.

Sarah got no answer, sighing as she turned to the right, wandering down the hallway. She found herself intrigued as she moved past a door.

A door? Like the sort of place Al might go after saving yet another ungrateful girl while he waited for the next unfortunate to get thrown in?

Sarah went through, hoping to find someone's living quarters.

Sarah did find something akin to living quaters, a bedroll, a small table and chair, and...an ornate chest in the corner of the room. The room was empty except of those furnishings, no one else was here.

Maybe this was Al's chest. So close to the exit, it made sense. But the ornate chest didn't quite fit. Sarah approached it and, after making sure there was really nobody watching, lifted the lid. She wasn't sure what she hoped to find - it wasn't like she had a use for wealth - but she was curious what it might hold...
