Re: RJ113419 - Dungeons and Prisoners
Still, it's good game design to have a protagonist you actually want to PROTECT from the rape, instead of just throw her at them...
That's my thinking, and it's exactly what I'm going to try to do even though I have my doubts that it's going to be easy in this game.
Anyway, done with the newer demo. I got to say I'm impressed even more after this demo. The gameplay is very fun, the art is pretty, the music is good (especially the boat battle music), the characters are nice and even with the language barrier, it still made you feel some emotions (especially for Lynn).
If Lynn is still alive, PLEASE let there be a possibility of an happy ending with Miene and Lynn together!
Random stuff: Pringles existed in the middle ages, who knew?
For those with better grasp of Japanese than I do... Is there any reason why they didn't attempt to free the three slaves in the boat? I know they had a long talk in there, but I don't understand why they left them there and instead went to make love with each other (I loved that scene but the timing seems strange). Unless the girls said that they were there willingly (???) and that they liked their situation and that this got Miene hot (I don't think Lynn needed much encouragement)? Or that it's considered acceptable and normal in their realm and that Miene and Lynn would be wrong to try to save them? Or that those girls get paid and that it's their job..? It's unlikely to say the least, but I'm just trying to find some explanation.
Regarding the biohazard symbol, I assumed that it was there to tell the sailors not to use that hole because they'd get zapped if they do.
Gameplay stuff: Does the spear have a penality for hitting targets at 1 range? I keep having a ton of problems finishing off the very last enemy even though I thrashed all the others. For example, in the thief haven, if I move into the doorway and keep attacking the enemies further away (priorizing those I can Back Attack), I can take down the whole enemy group except for the guy in front by using about 3 big potions. But I keep missing the last guy over and over again, and it costs like another 3 big potions just to beat him.
For record sake, it is actually possible to escape from the thief's prison if you are level 3, well-prepared and have a fair amount of luck... There might be an easier way but here's the one I found: Buy a ton of big potions, enter the bar, fight in the doorway and stab the thieves at 2-range until you get to level 3 and stop using consumables afterward. Give up as soon as you reach 1 HP.
When you wake up, heal up using your healing spell, then rest for 6 hours so that you get your spells back. You'll instantly get attacked, use Kick to get them off. Whenever one gets on top of you, use Kick instead of the default punch (more damage). When you eventually standing, use the level 2 area spell that hits for around 14 damage each. Then you need to maneuver to reach the bathroom door. Jump over the guy on the left, move next to the door, jump over the guy to the right and into the doorway to the bathroom so that only 1 guy can face you at once, but the second is still diagonal so that you can use the 14 damage spell on both again once it's off cooldown. Finish them off with the level 1 damage spell or regular attacks. Unlock the two closest doors with the key, and rest up until full. Open the west door, beat up the two guys in there just like the first two, pick up your equipment from the chest and rest up again to full. Exit to the northwest, move west until the edge and poke down the enemies at two range as before. Use your remaining consumables as needed. Get out of the thief haven and cheer loudly in victory.
That is what I'm looking for in an h-game like this. Being able to actually escape from such an utterly desperate and horrible situation. It's what I was hoping for and I'm so happy it's here. Big thumbs up!
... But I'm curious if you guys have an easier way to actually escape the place since my way definitively requires some luck to pull off and some hefty preparation...
