RPG Patreon Active RPG Maker [Sierra Lee] The Last Sovereign [Updated 3/21: 200+ ILLUSTRATED SCENES!]

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

There's actually CG work in progress as far as I'm aware, so your information is a bit outdated.

As I understand it, we'll soon(tm) be getting an update to Ouroboros with CG scenes and more/expanded scenes.

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

Just to be completely clear, my hope is still to have CG art for TLS. However, getting an artist for a project this size isn't easy, and so far while I have commissioned a number of artists, none have worked out for the project as a whole. I am still interested, but obviously recent events have limited how much time I spend in that search.

While some delay is inevitable, yes, I remain fully committed to this project. I hope to return with a big update finishing all of the Darghelon/Gheldaron plot. It won't be immediately, but don't expect months of delay.

Yeah. I'm basically done with the new version, just waiting on artists now. Expect an update on Patreon this Sunday.

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

So I am not a patreon and (sadly) not in a position to become one... I don't suppose somebody could let me know if everything is okay in Sierra land? I see updates, but cannot view them :(

Just progress updates about how the month is going. No bad news.

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

I was playing the game, and ended getting stuck for a completely stupid reason, and had to look into the wiki... and realized I missed lots of "secrets" and whatnot.

Still, this made me wonder: how linear this game is actually? I have impression there is only one single "100%" path and that it never "opens up" so you can explore around or manage something or whatever.

Although the plot is incredibly awesome, it feels like I never made any choices, I am just moving forward, talking to everyone trying to find who I need to talk to now, and killing monsters in combat, I never make any choice beside that.

I am correct in that perception? The game from start to finish not even "branch" or something?

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

Whilst the plot relies heavily on the ol' Unspoken Plan Guarantee since Simon does most of his planning and developing off screen, which pushes what looks a linear plot, you will come up to several crossroads and checks through the story that modify the plot and cast for the next stretch of plot. They're fairly obvious, for the most part, but although you won't be able to get everything in one go, getting the most out of your save file will inevitably come down to rubbing your face up against every npc you can find, and the optional fights which come down to rng whether or not you win more times than i'd like.

Whether or not you recruit someone or break their will and enslave them, or whether or not you decide to invest in a project will determine how your version of the story progresses.

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

Choices is probably not the right descriptor to use here. The game has options.

You have a goal, a clear goal at that, and you will have several options, several routes toward that goal, you're not going to choose to do something entirely different from that goal at any point, just which route and how many detours you'll be taking to get there.

There are choices in which people you agree with and get on your side, choices in whether you'll complement your military or your economic position, choosing to sacrifice resources for the sake of a moral choice etc.

If you're wondering if you'll ever be in a position along the lines of 'You now control Yhilin, choose which country to attack next" or some such, then no, that's not likely to happen. Choices about how you deal with problems and people will typically stick with you for a long time though, I'm not sure how far into the game you are, but a political summit later in the game has some far reaching consequences and severe choices, and characters generally remember how you've treated them which related to unlocked scenes and future choices.

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

I am in the first city I think.

I got stuck and had to look into the wiki, because I didn't talked to the merchant soon enough, what I understood from talkign to her when coming into the city, and the blatant "Are you ready to discuss business, yes or no?" was that I needed to get money before talking to her...

So I did all side-quests I could, and got stuck, unsure of what to do until I visited the wiki, and found out that I had to say that I am ready, despite not being ready...

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

At that point you're there to 'discuss' business, as in reach an agreement that you will then work to settle. How would you know how much money you'd need if you didn't discuss it first? You basically tripped over your own presumption ;P

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

First off I love this game! It's definitely one of my favorites. Now I'm not sure if I'm blind or if their's possibly a glitch but I can't seem to find the last emissary for the mine in Aka's Path. I found the one in the Merchant's Quarter and by The Court but I can't last the last one. According to the the walkthrough he should be in The Square (on the far right) but I feel like I've checked every nook and cranny and I stil can't find him. Is it a bug or am I just blind?

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

You might need to advance the rest of the objectives a bit before he appears.

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

Hello, everyone! I'm happy to announce that TLS version 0.21.0 has just been released to patrons!

This update includes a new regional map, biggest one yet by several metrics (the following screenshot doesn't cover quite all of it). This section is somewhat longer than normal and there's a lot going on.

This is also the first update where the system of having other languages in different colors will be heavily used. I hope once people see it in action, they'll see the options it gives for switching between multiple languages in a quick, intuitive way.

Meanwhile, Yarra is happy:

I'm still pretty busy with the commercial version of . This is also a larger-than-average TLS release with more moving parts, so I'm budgeting extra time for bugfixes. Therefore, I'm planning to have this release available publicly on November 18.

To tide you over meanwhile, please do feel free to check out Ouroboros - the free version is still available on my blog. ^-^

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

YES!

To commemerate this, i'm gonna start a new playthrough from the very start! :D
What? Of-of course, it-it's not like i already forgot the previous story or anything...!

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

YAY! Glad to see things are moving along well!

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 8/26]

It's pretty great, lots of optional/missable stuff though, group has a good dynamic though there were some signs of overcrowding
(Qum/Hilstara barely saying anything) though that's not a big deal and they've had a lot of stuff during the Yhilin scenes.

One minor issue I can't seem to resolve
In the forest maze area getting to the last place seems impossible, Sierra mentioned that it involved Altina doing something, but she isn't exactly being forward in offering help

Me too!

Regarding characters: with a cast this big, I feared having everyone involved continually would lead to no one having memorable roles. Since those characters had a lot to say before, I wanted this update to have more with some who have been quiet recently, like Carina and Altina.

As for the forest maze:
There's an optional/missable quest involving Altina that you have to complete before going to the maze. It's not particularly obscure, but you do need to return to an old area. I thought this one might be too finicky, so there's nothing unique in that area, just money and a semi-expensive weapon.

Re: The Last Sovereign [Updated 11/18]

Version 0.21.2 is here, enjoy!

Also, if anyone missed the release of Ouroboros, it's now available on itch.io as well, and the DLsite version is just awaiting approval. More info here:

I hope to be back with more info and releases in good time. Until then, enjoy! ^-^

This update is going to be quite the point of contention for people min-maxing as it has some major decisions regarding affection, I'd definitely recommend going through it twice just to see the different dialogue as well, and I believe there's two places that can only be accessed after siding with one or the other.

Also a minor non-plot spoiler for a side-quest
There appear to be a total of five kingsfail available for a side-quest with the potion hermit, with your reward being based on how many you have

Eight. Seven are needed to get the Gray Lotus of as-yet-unknown purpose, but the eighth just gets you another potion.
