Gwen can't see any fire-escape or ladder in this side of the building, but in the side street there is a dumpster next to a drainpipe that looks sturdy enough to carry her weight, probably. The front of the building has carvings in the form of mathematical equations, that would make scaling it fairly easy, as well. The wind blows gently, pushing the smoke away from the laboratory, yet her nose still picks up the smell of smoke.

"Never a good idea to climb when the best way back down is something that's likely to fall apart at an inopportune time... or will have tedious footholds." Gwen mumbles to herself, rubbing her head, and deciding to take the rougher approach of moving towards the crowd, trying to figure out what the commotion was about.

The mostly-human crowd grows thicker as Gwen slips through it towards the source of the explosion. As she turns corner she sees that the fire seems to be in the third floor of what seems to be an apartment building, though it's now spreading. There are no shouts or screams, so if there are people inside, they're not panicking. The bells of the fire brigade can be heard clearly already, so it shouldn't take too long for them to arrive. A piece of glass crunches under the mousegirls foot and looking around she notices that one of the laboratory windows is broken.

Gwen turns to the lab window, ignoring the apartment fire for an instant, before she turns back to the fire, mumbling to herself in displeasure.

She quickly moves to break away from the group again and looks for some way to contact the authorities, the fire breaking out at the same time no one answered at the lab while she was, as far as she knew, expected, wasn't adding up to anything she should go stumbling into carelessly.

Although she hesitated just long enough to see if there was more glass on the outside of the window or not, without looking inside, simply by guessing the damage done to the window.

When she contacted the authorities, she would politely tell them that the situation was 'suspicious' and that she believed whoever started the fire to have fled into the building, a reasonable assumption to make, and even if the evidence did not support it, such a statement would ensure the speedy reaction time of local police forces when such a spectacle of a fire was drawing this much attention from the city, at least, she reasoned to be the case... There was always a hint of doubt in the back of her mind about how things would play out.

There seem to be no watchmen in the crowd, but the nearest watch house is three blocks away. Strangely, Gwen realizes that she has yet to see any watchmen.
