Re: The Forgotten Castle
She couldn't just sit here and wait. Rising to her feet Rynn looked towards the door she hadn't explored yet, sword in one hand. Putting her hand to the door she pushed gently, but found it locked.
"Good thing I got the keys... I think," she spoke to herself, mostly to try and get some human voice out into the stillness of this room, to go against the monstrous shrieks of the ghouls just on the other side.
As she moved to get the keys from her hip, she pushed harder against the door with her motions. There was a wet crack, and rotten wood broke away from the latch within the wall and door, and the portal merely swung open.
A dank musty smell rushed up a set of stone stairs, and Rynn looked down into the darkness of the basement, but could see nothing. Moving back she grasped a flaming stick, another impromptu torch, and held it down the staircase before her.
Light bounced off stone walls, glistening in a few areas where rivulets of water had worked their way through the masonry over the years of decay this small castle had seen.
Letting out a small breath, Rynn started slowly making her way down, mindful of her footing as some stones shifted beneath her feet, and some were slick with moss that had grown across their surface.
Nearly at the bottom she saw the staircase open out into a room, still unseen from her angle, but she could hear something scurrying about. Her fingers tightened around the grip of her sword, and she moved further down, she would not run from this fight.
As her foot left the last step, and Rynn plunged into the room, she frowned in disappointment; the scurrying sound were nothing but rats chewing into old bags of seed and grain, nearly empty. Rotting casks of wine and whiskey were stacked along the wall on the right, and shelves of moldy food lined the left. A single iron door at the far end more than likely led to a freezer of some form. There was not much down here, though the freezer could hold something.
A) Kill some rats for food
B) Check out the Freezer
C) Go to the lobby and check out the stairs leading to the second floor.
