Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

(I can make you one, I've already made a few graphics for other people)

The keys did fit both doors. The door that had been jammed had some minor cosmetic damage, but was fully functional. Tab's tactical setup was sound. The screen also looked like it would hold all but the most determined attackers, atleast for long enough to flee.

There was a trail of blood down the hallway. Tab entered a junction, the trail led straight ahead through a door with a sign above it that read "Cell Block B". There was no sign of a Cell Block A, but that didn't really matter right now. To Tab's right was a small laundry toom, intact. To her left was another heavy door, but this one had been broken free from its socket somehow. Something with an incredible amount of strength must have been through here. The door was laying on the ground on the far side of the doorway. Behind it Tab could see signs for various storage rooms, both of the police's actual equipment, and stuff taken from the prisioners. The hall then came to another junction, but she couldn't see where those lead right now.

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

"bingo... kinda..." Tab thought silently to herself at the sight of the torn off door and things behind it. She ducked down low and rushed towards it, peering inside before slipping in, if the coast was clear.

Although it would've been suicide to rush into a room with whatever tore that door off it's hinges, Tab was fairly sure that whatever it was, was long gone, like most of the monsters in this area. She tried to briskly move through, using the upmost caution and stealth as she headed back to look through the hoard of gear left behind.

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

The things Tabatha was interested in were divided between two main rooms. One room has mostly the type of stuff she already had, as well as an overabundance of tasers and both styles of handcuffs. It seemed the policemen had returned many to storage in exchange for having carried extra ammo. The room was in better shape then some, only one big blood stain and an overturned chair. There was also a overturned message board in one corner, back now facing up.

Another room held some cooler toys. The stuff criminals had on them or had otherwise been taken during raids. There wasn't much here, no doubt the defenders had decided to make use of the weapons here when the siege started. There was a lone rifle in the style gangs commonly used, cheep, foreign, and adorned with various bling. This particular one seemed to be in the process of having some of the decoration removed, the previous owner had loaded it up so much that it was too hard to fire. Criminals were hardly the sharpest tools in the shed. Tab could probably remove the offending pieces with a little work, either with the proper tools or brute force is she wanted to take a chance.

The ammo situation here was not too good. The police section looked almost clean, only two clips being found at the bottom of a drawer, as if they'd been forgotten. The gold plated rifle had some ammo with it, probably in reserve for when someone had got it working.

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

Though limited ammo was a concern, Tab eagerly snatched up what she could while finding more bags or packs to store as much of the other things as possible. She took only a couple pairs of traditional handcuffs, and a slew of the 'new age' ones, knowing they would be lighter weight and easier to deal with as leaving them on an incapacitated foe wouldn't hinder her too greatly in losing the piece.

The tasers, being almost a melee weapon, she decided to grab a few of, testing a couple to ensure they were still powered before going through with her loading up process, though she avoided loading up too heavily, lest she find herself unable to drag the stuff out of here, or worse, she started traveling and found herself slowed to a crawl and exhausted just as she was being attacked again.

Tab took a quick moment to check the whiteboard, wondering what, if anything, the officers were planning on it, knowing that it might've provided useful information about the station and what went on here, or even a message as to where the survivors fell back to.

In the end, Tab left the rifle and it's ammo, on her way out, suddenly stopping to think of others and starting to gather more supplies than just for herself, pooling them together and starting to assemble pre-made packs for other survivors (Contents as listed below if these materials are all available, she'd prefer to make at least 5 quickly in addition to what she takes).

Once the kits were ready, she moved on to adding a note on the whiteboard about the kits, and suggesting the area where that sporting goods store was had been relatively untouched, and seemed to be safe before finally wrting in a date and signing it, a warning in case someone came here weeks later, that the area may have been overrun by the time they read it, "safe as of nuke-day +0... please take one of the kits I've left, and if you can, make a replacement, share the wealth of supplies here. The Paper and Pencils are an important tool too, so please don't overlook them! Use the papers to leave notes for other survivors about safe locations, and how we might get together... only working together, and working smart, will we make it out safe."

For good measure, Tab writes the note on a couple papers and puts them in obvious places near the kits as well, in case the whiteboard should somehow be erased.

("Tab's Cop Gear Kit" contains 2 tasers, 2 nightsticks, 2 metal handcuffs, plus keys, at least 20-plastic-cuffs (adjust based on number of available), and 1 service pistol (no ammo). All pre-set in an officer's belt for easy equipping, along with 1 non-functional radio (in case anyone else finds parts to make it functional, since having the basic pieces makes repairing it a lot easier than making one from scratch... Assuming that there are indeed cop's radios around), paper, and pencils. (I sincerely hope she won't have trouble finding paper and writing materials in cop's gear, since their #1 purpose is to write tickets... Replace pencils with pens as necessary.))

(Tab takes two of her kits along with her, one for herself, one for anyone else she stumbles across. Of particular note: She takes 2 guns with her personal kit, instead of the single gun, due to the fact she has ammunition for them, keeping her weapons loaded and ready for battle. With that exception, she essentially just takes one of the kits she made for herself, while the spare kit she attempts to store safely in her backpack, having decided to only take one spare kit in order to keep herself as light as possible while still having backup weapons for anyone else she comes across.)

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

Nothing interupted Tab as she worked. The taser check was dull, most of them were burnt out, though there were a few functioning ones. One per kit would probably work better if she wanted future survivors to have enough to make more kits. The number of plastic cuffs were limited, she could give six per kit using the same rational as with the tasers. A total of six kits had were made, counting the supplies she herself took. Once done, they fit nicely one of the tables once cleared off.

The inspection of message board earlier was more eventful. According to one note, the reason for the lack of civilian equipment in the lock-up was because it had been transfered two days before to another station closer to the center of the city. They must not have gotten all that much in the time before the monster attack, and even then some of it would have been removed from the room anyway afterwards. The rest of the board was clear for Tab's messages, the survivors did not do any planning here.

(Adjustments to the kit - 1 taser per kit, 6 plastic cuffs)

(Tried messaging you on chat, was wondering if you had wanted to go ahead an move someplace, btu I guess that'll be next post)

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

Tab took time to test the tasers and get functional ones, the damaged or non-working ones she set aside, taking only one of them for later examination/exploitation for parts. When the task was done, she'd shove the rest of the non-working ones into a pile with a note: "If you can fix these, add them to kits." with another set saying "working, add 1 to each kit you make"

(6 cuffs is a bit low since they're not reusable, but eh, okay.)

Tab quickly jotted down the last of the notes to suggest how many of each supply be set in each kit to prevent running out too quickly, though parts of it were guess-work at best, she wasn't about to sit and count out every piece of every object when she could guess pretty closely.

"eh... so a few people may be short, or over at the end... close enough." she mused quietly to herself while storing one spare kit, and equipping one.

The board proved mostly useless for what it had on it, but that she could use it to leave messages for future survivors proved to be vastly useful as she headed back out slowly... On her way back out, she began to use sticky pages from her confiscated paperwork to leave arrows and instructions of how to reach the area where the materials were, heading back to the double-doored area briskly, before coming to a stop and looking around once more.

For now, she'd need to put a hold on the final directions into her gear-bunker... she was fairly sure what she'd find in the laundry room, clothes... no one in their right mind would try to hold off enemies there, and despite her garb being unusually skimpy and revealing, she couldn't particularly feel comfortable stealing a police uniform... or worse, prisoner clothes. Opting to keep what she had on, Tab headed down towards Cell Block B.

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

(This isn't the only storage area, you can find more elsewhere in the station)

More blood stains greeted Tab down her path, long streaks down the hallway. These ones looked like smeared footprints almost. It was hard to tell what way they were pointing, but something had shambled through here. With the damage to the previous areas, perhaps that was the way it went, otherwise Tab might eventually find something that probably shouldn't be messed with.

For now, Tab reached the cell block. This wasn't a major holding center, and as such there was simply a L shaped hall with cells on either side. The one closest to the guard station at the end had the gate ripped off and tossed into the middle of the block. Others just had blood stains. A few were occupied with dead bodies, and a few others were occupied with infected who hadn't noticed Tab yet. Walking down the hallway to the other end, where there was probably another exit, would be safe, but they'd notice her and make a racket.

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

Tab quietly glanced at each of the cells, wondering if she could somehow close in the infected in some kind of overall lockdown command... most of this place's systems seemed at least partially intact, and such an option seemed like it would be vital for security...

If she could find such a lever or command option on the nearby walls, she'd activate it quickly to lock off the infected that were busy inside the cells... that many less to deal with, in whatever method used, she figured. Though for good measure she made it a point to be ducked well away from sight and backing around a far corner after doing that, letting the natural racket of the cells by the target of anything bigger that may have caught interest by her actions.

If nothing else happened for a while, Tab would eventually try to sneak past the area, now secured against the infected, to examine a little deeper in...

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

Most of the cells were closed, but that didn't nessisarily mean they were secure. The security display in the guard station would perhaps yield some clues. It was mostly blank, but one red light was flashing on it, the words next to it read "Emergency Lockdown". Seems someone had already activated the lockdown, to the best of their abilities, already. Hopefully the sorry state of the building had not taken its toll on the locking mechanisms.

Tab's snooping had caught the attention of one of the zombified inmates. He shambled up to the gate of his cell, rattling the bars and moaning loudly. This attracted the others who also shambled up and began to make a ruckus. Just like normal prisoners, they were unable to escape their cells. The block was wide enough Tab could walk down it without any of them grabbing her.

At the other end of the block, Tab found another laundry area, a medium sized kitchen area, and between the two, a set of service stairs leading down. Off to one side on the landing was a secured door leading back into the office areas, impassible for the moment.

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

Tab smirked a bit as the strangely shuffling infected reached out at her and rattled the cages... looking at her own appearance and theirs, she had that perverted sense of being in a bad japanese movie again, she half expected the cells to let loose just in time for them to bound out and rape her. Smirking at the notion, she couldn't resist examining one of them, choosing the most secured looking cell and taking an up close look at the figure in it, before giving it a once over at just past arm's reach, looking over it's changed face and body, it's limbs, and even going so far as to gently hold out one of the bits of her clothes that were torn off earlier to see if the thing would foolishly strike at her garments... the opportunity to explore it's motivation for a moment was too good to pass up, but she would take barely seconds to do this, knowing if more of these things still roamed free, it meant she could be attracting more at any second.

Rushing beyond, the laundry area still held no interest for Tab, but the kitchen caught her attention enough to head in there... "If the power's on to most of this building... maybe they have a working fridge and a few other things... Now that the biggest dangers have already passed through this area, if I had five or six more people to help do a thorough sweep of this building... we could probably re-secure it, and better fortify and prepare it against a future attack... not to mention it seems to have plenty of back ways out in case we're forced into full retreat."

Her hand once again unclasped the imaginary tape recorder, sighing to herself at how much she missed having one... it made her appear so much less the crazy woman, and instead a proper scientist...

(Actions: Tease Secured Cell Prisoner/examine him. Check Kitchen. If kitchen is fairly straight forward (water, power, cubboards, vending machines), then examine stairs, and head down them next. Tab is searching for a back way out now, since she realizes she must've come pretty far in.)

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

The man lunged for Tabatha's hand, not the scrap of clothing. Being in control however let the scientist whirl out of the way before it grabbed her, though. It seemed to have retained enough of its higher brain capacity to know that Tab herself was the prize, not the clothes. He continued to howl and try to attack her through the bars, dull, green tinted eyes staring in a lifeless manner.

Moving on, the kitchen looked somewhat inviting. It wasn't trashed at all, and the lighting was working here. However, opening the fridge revealed that the light wasn't working inside, and the majority of the cold was gone. That did matter, though, as there was no food left as well. A few empty milk cartons and some tupperwear, but no food. The counter had some crumbs on it, somewhat fresh, as if someone had eaten there since the last time the janitor made a pass. Hard to gauge when exactly when they were left, considering janitorial duties were the last thing on anyone's mind right now.

There was also a large freezer containing food for the prisoners, it was about half full, but it'd require actually getting the oven or microwave going. In a small, low security facility such as this, TV dinners were considered "good enough" apparently, and unless the prison was full up, it seemed the kitchen had the capacity to serve them all in about an hour.

With the door sealed, the stairs were the last place of interest. These were a cramped set, even worse then the other ones. Employee use only probably. They seemed okay, no mess or damage. Venturing down, the next level was in pretty good shape too. Tab found herself in an area much like the one she just left. Here was Cell Block A, another kitchen, and this time the door to the offices was open. As she got the chance to look around, however, she heard a massive roar, coming from the office section. It sounded a decent distance off, perhaps on the other side of the building, but one thing was clear, something big was in here with Tab...

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

The roar set Tab on the defensive, drawing both guns simultaneously and ducking a step back into the stairwell, she peered only an eye around the corner as she cautiously looked around the area... now was not the time to get careless. That roar seemed to be big, probably whatever thrashed the area, and she needed to be clever if she was going to take it down...

Thinking back to her encounters outside, against her encounter with the prisoner, Tab couldn't help but feel a duality in the nature of these 'infected' and the beasts. On the one hand, they were incredibly stupid and easily tricked, but on the other hand, they were smarter than the average wild animal, making them a risky bunch to misjudge.

Tab searched silently for the source of the sound, not moving from her hiding place unless she was absolutely certain it was safe to do so... If whatever it was already spotted her and the roar was an indication it was on it's way, she'd see it coming soon enough and retreat back up the stairs, her escape route already planned.

While if it was merely roaring for another reason, she would eventually come out from her hiding place and approach the offices slowly, peeking into them with intent to discover what was roaring, and possibly deal with it, remembering the distraction tricks from before. If she spotted the thing anywhere in the offices (assuming it doesn't notice her, if it spots her, use "RUN AWAY" plan, up the stairs), she would watch it silently from a distance, only resorting to diverting it's attention (Tossing something out into the offices someplace it would make the thing go away from her to check on it, hopefully), if it seemed to be hunting or soon to discover her location.

(Generally, she's taking the stealth/avoid it approach, while curious what it is.)

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

Stealth Check (It doesn't happen at the start of the post, but let's get the rolls over with now)

4 + 33 = 37 // 20 + 30 = 50 ... failure

No more roars followed the first, though there was the sound of things being smashed across the floor. Whatever it was, while destructive, had no idea there was someone else here. Tab started down the office spaces. As she progressed across this level, things slowly got more and more trashed. The first few cubicles were nice and tidy, but the next had dumped trash cans, destroyed computers, and other such signs of struggle. A fight had taken place on this floor.

As Tab got closer, she could hear heavy breathing comming from one of the offices on the far side of the floor from where she'd enter. Something quite large was in that room, doing who knows what, but causing alot of noise. However, when Tab tried to manuever closer to see what it was, she accidentally knocks a briefcase off a desk, causing enough noise to alert the thing to her presence. It lets out another roar and proceeds to charge out of the room, revealing an infected man, but this one was different.

The man was mutated to a horriffic extend. He was made taller, bigger, and more muscular. His skin shown a bit of a greenish color, as well as his eyes. He was totally naked, displaying his massive manhood for all to see. However, these details were mostly lost on Tabatha, who had already begun her escape plan.

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

Tab groaned loudly, she wasn't sure how she could've been so careless! She would've felt it, she wouldn't known she was bumping into something... unless... Tab didn't even bother to check as she kept running at top speed, but cursed at the loose hanging knots of the swimwear she'd thrown on to keep some sense of modesty... she was fairly sure one of the ends must've caught while she was distracted, and even more sure it was now left untied and swinging in the wind as she ran.

Grabbing at any little thing she could as she neared the stairs, Tab nearly hurled it towards the kitchen when she suddenly thought the better of it... She rushed up the stairs and to where that locked and blocked off door was, then hurled what she had down the hallway towards it, ducking around the corner silently and holding her breath, letting the enormous clatter of her thrown item make it seem like she'd disappeared through the far locked door.

(Note: if she finds nothing, she hurls one of the metal pairs of handcuffs merely for something to throw that will clatter a lot and draw attention towards the locked door while she hides nearby.)

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

The monster almost did not fall for the trick. As it charges up the stairs behind Tab it is in full rage mode. However, once it gets to the top, it suddenly stops. It sniffs the air, confused. It looks ahead to the blood stained cell block, sniffing more, before turning to where it heard the sound. Something was wrong with its ability to detect Tab, as if the runaway mutation had confused it as to which sense to believe. It slowly sauntered over to the door, touching it a bit before giving it a good punch, knocking it almost out of its socket. In rage, it punches again, and again, untill the door is on the ground as the previous doors had been. It then walks into the next room, continuing its search for Tab there. Sounds of cubicles being destroyed are clearly heard.

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

"Another locked door down." Tab thought to herself silently, peering around the corner to watch the beast's rampage, and see what was behind that door... the thought of someone having been hiding there briefly coming to mind, and she didn't want to leave whoever it was stranded at her fault... but on the other hand, whoever it was could've let her in sooner... assuming there was anyone at all. She had gone through great trouble in signaling the security cameras, after all...

Tab only sighed after a moment, realizing that the longer she let this thing rampage, the more destruction it caused, the less useful things she would find... if she wanted this place to remain a viable option for a defense point, she'd need to stop the thing sooner, rather than later...

A perverse sense came over her as she recalled seeing the thing's massive cock, jutting and huge, and tab stripped the rest of her bikini, wearing only the detatched sleeves of her outfit as she called out, "Oh mister Monster! Is this what you want?" while she leaned against a nearby wall and spread her pussy lips with one hand between her legs, ass lifted towards the doorway invitingly, as if she was begging him to come fuck her.

"That'll get his attention." she thought grimly to herself, as she watched over her shoulder until the thing took notice and came at her again. Using the extra distance of the hallway she had tricked him into going down as a head start, the instant Tab knew she was being followed again, she was off at a sprint... Her fallback position was the final place to reach, with the barred door just barely propped open, all she'd need to do is slide inside, kicking the support out of the way as she went, and the cell would slam shut, locking her on one side, and the beast on the other side... the heavy iron bars doubtless going to last far longer than a simple locked door, giving her ample time to open the second way out if the beast didn't give up right away...

(Actions: Give monster a bit of room to explore, but not too much, just enough that she has an AMPLE lead on him for the next step... I'm talking, she's already to the far end of the longest hallway taunting back, 2/3 of the way to the safe room when she taunts. She lures him back before he wrecks a lot, with her tease, then ducks into the area with two barred doors that she mentioned as a fallback earlier. She goes into the first.)

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

The monster stopped what it was doing to turn and stare at Tab's display. Its jaw dropped as it drooled with delight, cock twitch a few times, before letting out a mighty roar and thunder after the woman. The chase led through the cell block, the standard infected moaning their approval of the big guy's pursuit. Tab made it into her safe area without harm, though almost slipped on a bloodstreak on the final leg.

Tab's stalker came to a stop just short of the viewing portal. It had clearly been... excited by the chase. After briefly looking her over once or twice, the monster resumed its efforts to catch the scientist. It pounded at the cage with both arms, causing massive tremors in the room. Tab's estimate of how safe this location was perhaps a bit too overconfident. Sure, she has some time to burn now, but this probably wouldn't hold up the mutant more then a minute and a half.

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

... Which was all the time she needed, half sitting back with legs spread after stumbling into the room, clearly on display and taunting the monster, when it rushed at her and slammed itself into the bars, Tab was already prepared for it, both guns lifted and aiming at point blank range down a narrow corridor. The monster had almost nowhere to dodge to, and if she couldn't unload on the thing at this range, she deserved whatever she got. Moving almost right up to the bars, Tab's dual-guns spilled enough lead to down a small squad of soldiers, or a herd of wild animals...

(DualGun- Shoot both handed at the thing to put it down. Narrow corridor, point blank range, shooting almost right against the bars to ensure she hits. Forces the monster to make a tough choice. Give up it's prey and limp away injured. Or keep attacking and taking bullets.)

(I'll keep the wall o rolls to myself, it'd just clutter)

Tab raised the guns and fired. She couldn't miss at this range, but an untrained civilian firing as fast as they could was still quite a danger to themselves. She'd gotten off six bullets from each gun before she had to stop from the the recoil coupled with poor stance. Still, that was enough to seriously wound the creature.

While its skin must be super tough or something, having stopped a few of the bullets before they got in deep, it had still suffered major damage to a few select organs, greenish fluid was leaking from the beast. It was still very much alive, but slumped forward, letting lose an unholy wail of pain the likes of which Tab had never heard before. It was almost enough to make one want to cut off their own ears. It just lay there on the ground, moaning in pain for a good long while, but eventually started to show signs of recovery, scraping at the ground with one hand.

(you took roughly 51% of its HP away)

Re: The Right Track (Kathy)

Tab quickly recovered her own stance, panting a bit as she held the guns cautiously towards the thing, a soft whisper on her lips... "Stay down."

"If you have any intelligence left, you seem like you could recover from those injuries still, especially if you're treated properly... but with your roaring and bellowing, and breaking things up, all I can assume is that you're a mindless beast... if you are nothing but a beast, even if you were once a man... then I shall do you the favor of finishing you off... but if you have any intelligence, if you're anything more... if there's any hope of redemption... Just stay down. Don't make me kill you... because if you are just an animal... a vicious, horrible beast... I swear, I've taken down your kind before on my journeys. And I won't lose a wink of sleep knowing that I've rescued countless victims you may still cause harm to... including myself."

... Wether her speech was interrupted of not, as long as the creature stayed down, she wasn't about to shoot it. But the moment it rose and began to take action, she would open fire a second time, bracing herself better against the recoil, knowing to lean into the shots slightly this time, so that if the beast fled... or attacked again, it would go down hard.

(Point blank firing again since both of them are still right against the bars. She shoots of it does anything but obey her order to stay down.)
