The stars aren't right!(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena does not sense amusement nearby. What she feels is tension that underlies all other emotions, as if something was getting ready to erupt. But there's resignation, too. "Heh. What're ye doing here, anyways. Looking for more work?" the rat-like man asks, the knife vanishing as suddenly as it appeared.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Work? Why not. Maybe I'm just suddenly excited to see the world start burning.... This place is a powderkeg, holy hell. she answered, before muttering as she/he looked around, wondering how much it would take to get this entire place to lose it's fucking mind....

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Guess I'll see ye later when yer off-duty. Ditch the get-up." the man says, handing Helena a card with directions and vanishing into the crowd. The meeting would apparently be at sunset, near the cathedral.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Hrm? Business card? Helena muttered, looking at the card curiously while she wandered about being on duty apparently, wandering aimlessly without purpose.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

His steps lead Helena into the Quartier Savant, the largest quarter of the city, filled with noble manors and beautiful parks, though there are also merchants, cafés and workshops here, all catering to expensive tastes. The most popular building style seems to marble, arced windows and three or four floors, each narrower than the last to allow for expansive terraces, many of which have small gardens in them, no doubt carefully tended to. The people here barely notice Helena, and the current fashion seems to tend towards pale skin, large wigs and tight jackets on both men and women, though the women's style favours lighter colours and comes with layered skirts, while men favour wide breeches. The men also go armed, each with at least a long, ornamental dagger to their side, though many also bear swords. Those not conforming to the fashion seem to subtly avoided by most.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

This place was, to Helena, a rediculous city full of larp'ers or a Ren Fair, seriously the clothing was pretty, but honestly the wigs were a bit much. Still! She found herself approving of everyone going about armed. An armed society was a polite society. At least she had liked to think so before. Now it was a question of all her food claws to poke her with.

Wandering about, she tried to get a feel for the undercurrents here, and compare them to what she had felt before. Was the nobility having the same problem? Or was it something they were blissfully unaware of... If it was... well. It wouldn't take much to set this whole place on the warpath.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Though outwardly everything appears to be going well, below the surface it's a whole different deal. A woman with blonde hair likely not her own seems anxious in her green and turquoise coat covered covered in a wavy pattern, while the man she's walking with, wearing a more conservative navy blue coat with a coat of arms woven into its chest, hides loathing towards his companion behind that pleasant smile. A man with a particularly large dark wig and a red-and-gold coat seems little short of being a nervous wreck and a second look reveals that the coat is perhaps not as fine as it seems. All around her, emotions are concealed behind phony smiles, and intrigue seems to dance just below the surface.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Fakes, Liars, Miserable backstabbing vermin..... She hated this place. Helena Hated this place far more then most she had encountered. Most had this constant honest glow about them, predator and prey moving about honestly, carefully still, surely. But there wasn't this constant game... This wasn't fun, this wasn't chaos. This was filthy, disturbing, repugnant.

Reaching out she brushed her hand along a passing man, and dominated him completely, finding the most bent out of shape person she could, the most likely to just erupt... And he'd feel a push in his mind, and a sweet alluring voice... Kill them all.... as many as you can... paint the town red.

He was unlikely to do anything he normally never would.... but if she could find someone close enough to the edge of insanity, and give him that little push..... Well... then it wasn't something he'd never do anymore...

At the same time she made her way towards the nervous woman and the loathing man, seperating them and giving the woman a smile. He wants nothing more then to drag you into an alley and cut you apart. Shall I do the same to him instead madam? she asked her sweetly, before turning and showing her hatred all over her face as it was meant to be shown to the man. Run little man....

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

It doesn't take Helena long to spot one of the less fortunate ones, a man with the soul of a poet, only now it had been pushed and showed and dragged through mud, his shoes pointy, his pants black, his coat striped in blue and black with puffed up sleeves. He swallows nervously, cold sweat beading up on his bearded face, his hand gripping the pommel of his dagger as if his life depended on it...

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Show them real art... Teach them the meaning of it... Paint the world red using their blood as the paint... she whispered into his mind, thoughts dripping with venom. You can create a true masterpiece then... when you've helped them experience that pain.... she continued to push.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

As a man in a coat so dark a green that it is almost black decorated with barely noticeable skulls and diamond-patterned blue breeches that show off his legs passes Helena, something snaps in the artist's - for that's what he surely is - mind. He lets go of the dagger and, now focused like an arrow, starts walking in a different direction. Someone would surely die for what Helena had just done...

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena grinned like the chesire herself. It was like playing with her food. This level of influence was intoxicating in it's own way and she just couldn't bring herself to care or empathize with these creatures anymore... was she really one of them once? caught up in the kind of stress she now saw as petty?

Someone would die. Who had yet to be seen. She licked her lips and continued on, watching for more people on the very edge, and rather then watching them jump, tossed them over the edge into insanity. To live a purer existence unhindered by the rigidity of society that in actuality, she was beginning to understand, were simply empty words spoken by men, strong or weak, at one time or another. Just words.... that was all that protected men from eachother, and she was having fun using her own to tear them down, those feeble barriers... If she had been more... appropriately dressed. She'd have been dancing.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

The next ten people she dismisses out of hand. The eleventh is another person falling behind in fashion, yet she's not quite near enough the edge to be pushed over it. The more she looks around, the more Helena realizes that most of these people are, despite the hatred and intrigue and fear, content on some level, as if gently manipulated towards maintaining the status quo.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena was getting annoyed... there wasn't enough Fear... With everyone content in some way with this absurd game they were playing, they thought they knew all the rules.... She'd have to make up a few... But she was not dressing up in a fucking wig or those restrictive clothes. Not by a mile... then again, she was a guard... but that would draw a lot of attention she didn't want as well... She'd have to think. Still she had wandering to do before meeting Ratman at the cathedral. And even then without only one person pushed to oblivion she felt like she hadn't done enough. Just torching buildings would be a bad idea to... she was fairly certain this place had it's Own Azalin hiding somewhere.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Continuing to wander, Helena finds herself in the Quartier Publique, where people of all kinds move about, some purposefully, some enjoying the grandiose buildings and atmosphere. Her gaze is drawn to the opera house, which is as grandiose a work of art as Helena has ever seen, with elaborate yet tastefully ordered wall carvings and sculptures surrounding it, and with four grandiose pillars each topped by a golden cherub pronouncing the purpose of the building.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Seeing the opera house.... helena couldn't help herself. A grin turned into a smile, a smile into a chuckle, a chuckle into a dark little laugh... This would be a good place for a declaration of war... Her miserable home country back home liked to declare war on obscurities and principles... Well... she'd start her own right here.... It went beyond a need for anarchy... human anarchy eventually had it's own order no....

She'd just need a spark... just a nice way to get the people to destroy their own rules...

Her wings itched to stretch, to stand atop that Cherub as Herself and laugh at the people below... To accuse and point and insinuate... She'd start a witch hunt... a Real Witch hunt, where anyone could be anybody in disguise, where a single misstep meant to die and disappear...

She licked her lips again and smiled to herself, the beginnings of a tenuous plan forming in her mind, but fluid, free to change... as vague as possible... as much freedom as possible... She was eager to see what the ultimate power of this place did when it's Base lost it's fucking mind...

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

As she lingers near the opera house, Helena spots a man with an air of authority around him walking in the part with not a care in the world, or so it seems. He's dressed in dark green breeches and a curiously patterned coat of deep blue. His slightly overweight, wearing a white wig and carries a finely wrought yet almost understated rapier by his side.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena spots the man, and keeps her distance, still grinning, remembering him, before fading into the crowd by going on her route back to her 'home' and then becoming her usual self, redressing, and drifting towards the cathedral to wait out Ratman. At the very least she'd see what this was about first before getting on with the Nights... Activities.

By daylight, the cathedral seems melancholic. Once it must have been almost as grand as the opera house if not grander, but now parts of it lay in ruin and only few people tend to the remaining parts and the spiritual needs of the city. Located at the center of the city, it borders on all the quarters, yet the houses surrounding it have abandoned feel, too. As Helena gets closer, she can see that a funeral is in progress.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena only had one thought, as she drifted through the city streets towards the funeral procession... There had to be someone here, who could sell her a jester's outfit.... And since she had time? She made that her absolute goal in life. She knew full well what guise she was going to take in THIS city to bring it to Ruins. She'd made up her mind, this place would well and truly burn.

Still, not even she felt in the mood to ruin a funeral procession, so she gave the dead it's due and avoided it for now, instead looking for ye olde costume shop or a tailor who seemed up to the task.
