The stars aren't right!(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Back in the noble quarters, Helena soon finds several tailor's shops, each catering to their noble clientèle in barely distinguishable ways. Entering one, she finds a middle-aged woman with a pair of assistants working on a pair of coats. As soon as she notices Helena, she stands up, leaving the assistants to their tasks. She's wearing a fashionable blue skirt with green slashes, though she has left the coat off and is working in her shirt. "Good day, m'lady. I can see that you're not from around here. Looking for something that'll help you blend in?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Not at all! And it's a pleasure to meet you. No, I'm looking to stand out in a way no one will ever forget. She said, grinning from ear to ear and offering her hand to the woman with a smile.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Smiling, the woman takes Helena's hand. "Madame Evangelina. What did you have in mind?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena feels the woman out carefully, looking for the control in her eyes she'd seen earlier before trying anything. I've been invited to a... very.. colorful party, and I need something incredibly colorful, and haunting. It should inspire awe and fear I think, in equal measure. I plan to play the Jester Madame Evangelina. The King's Fool, and No Ones Fool. Helena said, whispering like a conspirator. And a mask to suit this new persona for the evening in stunning white with a smile that would faint a light heart. she continued, grinning widely before giggling.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Evangelina seems to be nothing more than a hard-working craftswoman. She frowns thoughtfully while pumping Helena's hand thrice before stepping back. Placing her hands on her hips, she measures Helena with her gaze. "Well, it is not my forte, but I suppose make something like that. How soon is this... party? I'm not terribly busy, so I could have the suit ready in four or five days."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

That would suit just fine, just fine. Shall we go over the details of our fine foray into madness? Helena asked, giggling and looking around the shop. Just think, something so vivid and... inspiring will be the talk for weeks! Gossip legends Madame! she laughed, twirling a bit in place and looking appropriately excited. Which was easy. Because she was.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Of course," Evangelina says, smiling warmly as she gestures Helena to the backroom and starts showing different colours and materials, mainly expensive ones such as silk and satin, and asking her about her preferences.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Mm I love this violet and silver here. Helena said, running her fingers along the bolt of silk, dyed in a checker pattern and perfectly suited, the succubus shifting the bolt in the light while she admired similar solid color bolts along the wall. I think a rich royal purple would suit for the primary color, with a silver secondary backing, this checker theme is perfect... And hrm... the trim... Scarlet perhaps? To make the silver stand out all the more and otherwise blend with the purple? Helena pondered aloud, sketching her Fool's Garb in her mind.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"That'll be quite expensive." Evangelina notes, setting the desired bolts to the side while showing yet others. "And now if you would take off your clothes for measurements?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Certainly! Helena answers, stripping smoothly and smiling, waiting for the tickle of a tape to be measured.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Evangeline measures Helena quickly and professionally before noting the numbers of a piece of paper and making a few quick calculations. "6 yards of the patterned cloth and one of scarlet... That would be 70 gold for the materials so I can get to work. The final cost will be 30 gold on top of that."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

It's still missing the mask... which is the most important part. Helena pointed out, stretching before getting redressed, but she was quick to dip into her pouch for coin anyway. Flailing more then half of what money she had around quickly enough for her insanity. She could just pick more money up off of bodies.... Devil's Truth she was leaving more then enough of them behind her. She'd just have to eat richer people.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Evangelina frowns as she examines the Darkonian coins, but she accepts them nevertheless. "You'll have to go to the merchant's quarters for the mask, I'm afraid. One of the shops near the opera house sells those, among other things."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Thank you. I'll be off then and by in a few days. Helena said, hugging the woman affectionately and kissing her cheek, before scurrying off back to the opera house, that rediculous stage with which to start her... Well... it wasn't a revolution, and it certainly wasn't a coup... Just... Chaos. Not true anarchy, not to start... O it would be beautiful. She giggled to herself darkly as she walked.

"I'll see you then. And of course, I'll be happy to help if you need any other new clothes." Angelina replies, smiling as she hugs Helena in a motherly way.

Now that she's in her own form and not dressed as a guard, Helena has stopped being invisible to the nobility and she receives a few speculative looks, though no-one approaches her directly. Arriving at the opera house again, it's a simple matter of discovering a shop with a sign of a mask hanging in front of it. Inside, she finds an old man, carefully sanding down a wooden mask made in the form of some kind of a serpent. "Welcome. Welcome. What can old Monte do for you, young lady?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Old Monte.... Old Monte... Please excuse the remark, but you, and that name, remind me of an Old Cat.... You're a clever and skilled man aren't you Ser Monte. Helena says, inspecting the mask, stealing words and speech patterns from others she's heard so far all around smoothly without even flinching. And meaning every word as she reached around and very delicately, brushed a fingertip over the wood.

I was recommended to come here by a lovely woman working on a very... well. To be honest the costume itself will have no value, without a Mask, and it must be a Wonder of a mask Ser Monte. Helena says softly, looking around at other displayed works.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Oh, I don't know about clever, I don't." Old Monte says, putting the mask he's working on to his face and winking to Helena, while she lets her gaze wander about the masks scattered on display. There are quite many, but none of them strikes her as what she's looking for, not right away. "I have terrible memory for names, for one. Faces, too, for the right price. What are you after?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Why Old Monte, who says I want you to forget me! Quite the Contrary, I want you to burn my beautiful visage into your memory, and hold it close, and never let it go. I'm quite fond of Cats so long as they aren't raised to the status of worship. Helena answers, grinning softly and running her fingers over the masks, shivering. There was something almost tribal about a mask, even when you could change your face, it wasn't the same as wearing another overtop it.

Are you familiar with the faces of Comedy and Tragedy? Or the King's Fool? A Jester? Helena asked him, raising an eyebrow.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Old Monte knows all kinds of masks, I do, and what I don't have I can make." the man replies, placing the snakemask on the worktable and going to one of the walls and pulling a drawer out of it. "Would one of these do?" There are nine masks inside, three women and six men. All of them are smiling human faces: One of the women is painted half-black, half white, another has golden trims and the third appears to be made of faintly yellowing ivory, grinning madly and with almond-shaped eyeholes.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena immediately felt drawn to the yellowed ivory... and unconsciously associated it with the gold trim she had requested for her costume. It would be beautiful for that trim to suddenly rush to a fore in the mask. Some people where masks to hide who they are... Some people think they don't know themselves, or that others don't know them.... I wear a mask... to show my true desires at any one moment.... but this one... This one is reflecting a deeper need... one I have rarely ever given heed to... Always restrained in some way... I would now wear it proudly... She whispered, stroking the mask gently, before delicately lifting it free.

Tell me what you would have for this piece, Ser Monte... you are not limited to Coin... she said, meeting his eyes fully... If he was half as clever as he seemed... He'd see that mad grin, that he'd carved in ivory, dancing behind her eyes in front of a wall of flames.
