The stars aren't right!(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Blinking at the suggestion, the man seems to consider it for several moments before shaking his head. "Better not risk it, sorry." he says, seeming to genuinely mean it though not elaborating on what he might be risking as he goes to get Helena a cup of sweetened tea before returning to his post downstairs.

Perhaps fifteen minutes pass, then a middle-aged man arrives into the office. He's wearing tight jacket and wide breeches, similar to those in fashion with nobles, but decorated more modestly. He also has monocle; long, black hair; and thin, curly moustache. By his side, he carries a rapier with elaborately decorated yet functional handle, its scabbard made of black leather to match his clothes. "Ah, Louis mentioned there was someone up here. I'm Mr. Efficace," he introduces himself as he shakes Helena's hand before circling the desk and sitting down behind it. "But enough about me. Let's talk about you. What would you care to tell me about yourself?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Sighing and nodding, Helena shrugged. Thank you for the Tea, though I may visit you later for a quickie later. Don't be surprised if I do. Helena said, taking the tea and smiling, before waiting.

Seeing the new arrival, Helena visibly bristled. She already didn't like the nobles in this place. But she remembered the priest and his pussy ass wimp ass bitch ass motherfucker of a printing press operator and let it go.

Shaking the offered hand, Helena held up a finger. Don't scream and run away, we both don't have time for that simpleminded bullshittery. And I was told to lose the get up. Which means whoever gave me the card either already knew this, or whoever was protecting or controlling him did. she said, taking off her shirt so she didn't destroy it, before 'Losing the Get up' and transforming.

When she was done she was appearing as she felt. Blue hair, short cropped, wide wings, though thinner then one would expect. She'd found in the air they gave her faster control over her actual direction, and her horns slanted sharply backwards while her eyes took on a hue somewhere between pink and red.

Sitting down, she folded her shirt up carefully and draped her wings along the frame of the chair. I want to burn this place, I want to see the people lose their fucking minds and torch it themselves. I want these princing nobles torn from their high places and gutted in the streets like animals. And through it all I want to dance above the flames, laughing and singing purely for the anarchy I will have helped Cause. she said flatly, tilting her head

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Efficace's eyes slowly widen as Helena transforms and he firmly grips the desk with one hand while reaching under it with the other. Though surprised and perhaps scared, he quickly regains control of himself. "I... see." He swallows visibly before continuing: "Since you're here instead of one of the other branches, I take it you're not familiar with our work, then?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Honestly I have no idea who you people are, or what you do. Though I suppose long walks on the beach and pina coladas would have made for a better answer. I am in need of money though..... Who exactly are you people anyway? Helena asked, grinning and sipping on her Tea. Also thanks for not screaming or panicking or something. It really does bother a girl you know?

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"That's a good question, really. We here are Just Say Please, an organization dedicated to connecting the desperate with those who need hands to do work. We also engage in occasional espionage, sabotage and various forms of interfering with people who get too nosy in service of a mysterious organization. For what purpose, I can only guess." the man pauses for a moment, adjusting his monocle. "I think you're outside my paygrade. It might take a few weeks before I get a message to my superior and he can come visit, though. If you want money... I'm sure I can find some kind of work for you in the meantime. Just what can you do, exactly?"

That's a dangerous Question... what Can I do. I can use Magic, I can alter my appearance, and I can exert my will on others to some extent. My other abilities are my secrets to keep. Send the message to your superior. In the meantime, I do need coin. So, if you have a task that needs doing. Even if it's say, whoring, or even assassination, I don't mind getting my hands dirty. Helena said, continuing to sip her tea. It was good tea.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Hmm. Of course, you would be wasted on most of the jobs I could give you, but I think I have something..." Efficace says, pulling a folder from the desk and starting to sort through it. After a few minutes, he finally finds what he was looking for. "Ah, yes. My superiors would like La Société de Legerdemain infiltrated. It is... some sort of group of arcanists, though few take them seriously in this civilized age. I've been sitting on the task because there aren't any magic-users in my organization. I believe it shouldn't be too hard for you to infiltrate them? You'll need a cover identity, of course."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

I'll need information on them as well then or I wont get anywhere. I can change my features pretty freely but I can't copy anyone to a perfect extent which is a shame really. But if you have an in I can take it from there. Helena said, mulling over her words and ideas as she finished her tea, setting the cup down.

Standing up, Efficace gets another folder from the bookshelf. Flipping through it, he eventually hands Helena three dossiers. "These, we believe, are some of the higher ranking members. They might help you join if you are persuasive enough." Two of the dossiers are men, one a merchant the other a younger nobleman, and the third is a noblewoman from a lesser family.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Taking the dossiers Helena started flipping through them, looking for those with weak hearts or wills. She doubted she'd find any big clues, but addictive substance problems, gambling, whoring. Anything to give her a leg up could be helpful.

I'll do it. I need half the payment in advance to do it though, I'm literally penniless at this point and short of murder and robbery, if I start whoring for money I'll become too prominent too quickly. she said, starting to haggle. She doubted she'd get half. But a good starter would be nice.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

According to the dossiers, the merchant spends a fair amount of time in taverns, though that might be because he actually sells wine, and he appears to be quite successful, hardly a sign of weak will. The nobleman is more promising, with a history of drinking and playing cards, though the dossier notes that he seems quite lucky at gambling. The woman seems quite innocent and unremarkable, save for her membership.

"As happens, I don't have much money at hand right now. But I can give you twenty coronas and whatever supplies you need, within reason." Efficace counteroffers.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

20 coronas huh? I suppose that would be this lands version of Skulls. It will be enough for now and I'll have to supplement flat coin on my own carefully. As for supplies within reason. A safehouse. There's something weird in this city and I don't want it's full attention Yet. Especially not if I'm doing a quieter job. She said, tilting her head back and forth. That will be enough, unless you have texts on spells on hand for me to learn from. This lands magic is... Different. Helena said, wanting only a Safe place to hole up and material that could be loaned and returned. Everything else she could likely acquire on her own one way or another if she was careful.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

In response, the clerk digs up a purse and carefully counts eighteen golden coins minted with a sunburst, as well as twenty silver coins minted with a crescent moon, before pushing the over the table. He then retrieves a keyring and hands one of the keys over to Helena. "One of my assistants can show you the place. It's not luxurious, but it is quite secure. Feel free to use the supplies there as well, they are easily replaced."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

I appreciate it. One Rule. No one comes to the safehouse without a keyword and a padlock. One is not enough, I will kill anyone who doesn't have both. The word is Willow, the padlock is symbolic. Helena said, setting up her own secret fucking door knock.

But that was everything sorted I'll get started on this in the morning, tonight I need to see to a meal and study these dossiers a little better. She said, holding out her hand for a shake, the deal was made.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Standing up, Efficace shakes Helena's hand and leads her downstairs, before giving orders to one of the people there. Little more than a kid, he eyes Helena warily, his grey eyes hardened despite his young age, before starting to lead Helena. Away from the cathedral he takes her, to the docks where a large warehouse stands among half a dozen identical buildings. Opening the lock, he takes her inside and up a rope ladder through a trapdoor that, when closed, would be quite difficult to detect. The hideout is simple in furnishing, with merely an oil lamp, a bed, a chair, and several chests of supplies. The chests contain not only food, but also lockpicks, clothes of various kinds including a tight jacket and a shirt not unlike those currently in fashion among the nobles at the moment, as well as make-up to easy change or obscure facial details. There's also rope, several bottles of oil and a bag of caltrops.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Thankfully she had redressed herself and been more presentable when she was led to the docks, or things would have been awkward. Climbing on up and through the trapdoor, Helena looked around, locked the trap door and picked through the supplies.

She had a bit of the food, some bread just.... because, though she was definitely wanting something else, and sorted through the clothing and the other supplies. Setting the oil and caltrops aside, helena made a note to get more oil. She could ignite it so easily it was stupid and it would start a big fire easier then her trying to cook wood herself.

Stupid Wood.

But she pulled out the mask and delicately ran her hands around the edge, before flipping it over and carefully inspected every detail, every crevice, every small little tiny thing... Wanting to know more. She'd already picked a target... Or Three.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

The boy bids good bye and leaves, locking the door behind him. The bread is dry and hard as it and the other supplies have been chosen for the long shelf-life.

As Helena begins inspecting the mask, she again feels a slight tingling in her hands. Staring at it, she can almost make out the face of the elven woman who used to wear it.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

It felt odd, it felt strange, and Helena found herself looking for a Mirror before she stuck the mask on her face. Hell, any reflective surface would do and in the end she froze a bowl of water into ice and put the mask on her face, looking at her own reflection curiously.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena finds a small mirror in the box with all the make-up. The mask feels strangely cool on her face, conforming to her features like it was made for her. Staring her in the mirror, the ivory mask stares back at her, hinting at a thousand emotions yet revealing none.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Thinking about the mask, and loving the reflection, helena sighed and then took it off, rubbing the bridge of her nose, and opening the dossiers, starting to study, for once.
