Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Almost disappointed her creepy mask wasn't glued to her face like a bad B-list horror movie, Helena did her studying and eventually bothered to go to sleep, snoring soundly and thinking about slinkies.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena wakes up at sunrise with a vague feeling of unease. She remembers dreaming about the mask... and slinkies. There had definitely been slinkies in her dream as well.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena just understood the universal truth. Everyone Loves a Slinkie.

Grouching about her room, Helena sought out the mask for, she wasn't letting the fucking thing out of her sight for now, and she had a noble twat to look in on who was fond of his cards. Grumbling, she flailed her clothing clean and got dressed, slipping out and locking the door behind her.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

The morning air is pleasantly cool, and wind brings the smell of sea and the cries of seagulls into the city. This is the first Helena has seen of the docks in daylight, and it would appear that two ships have arrived with the morning's tide and are beginning to unload their cargo. If the dossier is to be believed, de Montague would either be at his house or in Clud l'Artiste where only members of the society would be allowed, but perhaps Helena could find more information, or at least coffee, in one of the Cafés.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Taking out a single coin, she spun it over her knuckles, practicing the simple trick. She hadn't been this agile a couple years ago but it was fun. She kept practicing with the coin while she walked, breathing deep of the sweet air. It was the little things. But since she stood out like a sore thumb, it would be better if she just played off her hair color a bit and she made her first order of business finding the Gobelet De Fleurs instead. it was his favourite establishment if the dossier was even half right. But there was another place she could go for information as well. And her first step off the docks took her not towards the Gobelet, but towards the Printer's home.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Navigating the streets is getting easier, and in short time Helena knocks on Master Avantane's door, which he opens after a few second. "Oh, it's you. What do you want?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Honestly it wasn't you I was expecting but i'm glad I caught you! Helena said brightly, smiling as she continued fiddling with the coin, trying to get it to roll over her knuckles. Gah! This is harder then it looks. I just wanted to chat, mind having a quick breakfast or cup of coffee? I mean... you can sit in a circle if you want. We made a deal that doesn't exactly make us friends or allies I suppose, but if you promise not to shoot or stab me then I can certainly promise the same. Helena said hopefully. I'd really not like to talk about this outdoors... with other ears around.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Avantane considers Helena's words for a moment. "Come in," he finally says, leading Helena to the kitchen and serving her a breakfast of fresh bread, hard cheese and watery beer. "Now. What is this about?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Sitting down and nibbling on the cheese, and enjoying the beer, Helena sighed happily and put the coin away La Société de Legerdemain. know anything? she asked plainly, nibbling some more cheese.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Dabblers." Avantane replies with a shrug. "What else is there to know? Very few people in Dementlieu take the practice of arcane magic seriously, so most of the members are little more than hobbyists. I have heard of rumours of interesting tomes in their secret library, though."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

well Shit. I need to get into that library then. Even if they are just dabblers. Plus I need to infiltrate the organization anyway for a job. How about another deal? Helena asked, pondering his words as she leaned back in her chair.

I mean, who wouldn't study magic? Tech is all well and good, but... I can literally will fire into being... it's too powerful a resource to ignore.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"What are you after?" Avantane asks, before shrugging in the way of a reply. "And I can design buildings that are bigger on the inside, but you don't see many people designing buildings, either. Conjuring fire is a fine skill I'm sure, but it takes a lot of studying compared to having fling and steel or firesticks handy."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

What is study? Helena asked, holding up a finger and just... willing fire into existance. It's just part of my biology. she said, tilting her head. As for what I'm after it's a job, I'm supposed to infiltrate and... that's it really. So I'll use the access to get into their library, and muck about with things. she said, shrugging. I need gold, better then just stealing everything. Makes me less enemies I don't need. she said, sipping on the beer.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"For most people it isn't so simple." Avantane replies, leaning back on his chair. "To be honest, I don't have much use for magical writings, but at least according to rumours, they have other unusual books as well. If I could get my hands on Dorian Ereth's On the Architecture of Forgotten Aeons I would be willing to pay handsomely."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Then we both have a shared interest. If I can find the book we can take handsomely and cut that in half for help getting in there in the first place. Helena said smoothly, finishing the beer and cheese and starting in on the bread. Sound like a plan?

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Sounds like a deal. You're still going to have to come up with an actual plan for getting inside. I don't know if I'll be of much help." the printer/architect replies, draining his own beer as well.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

So far the plan is cozy up to a fop in a place called the gobolet de fluers I think. Any idea where it is? What's his name...De Montague? spends a lot of his time gambling. Helena said, thinking on it. And don't sell yourself short. I'm new here. Don't know my way around properly yet.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Gobelet de Fleurs is in the Quartier Savant, I think. Near the western wall, where they don't have to worry about the offending smell of peasants. They're quite particular about who they let in, not that I think that would stop you." Avantane replies. "De Montague... ah, you must mean the heir apparent. The baron doesn't visit the city very often at all any more. I think his health may be failing."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

O lord. helena mutters, before nodding. I'll go look at this place then and I suppose maybe I'll drop you a notice when I know something more. If we can get me in then you're one step closer to your book. Helena said, standing and sliding her chair in. Thanks for the meal. she said, moving to let herself out and find this place now that she had directions.
