The stars aren't right!(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

It would seem that the magician is mostly using minor spells that only give out faint impressions that vanish in moments after the spells themselves fade. After getting used it, Helena starts being able to tell the auras of the spells apart, and she even notices that the hat has a stronger aura than anything else in her view, but as the auras fade in and out of view, she has difficulties learning anything else from them.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

This was getting odd and the magician seemed to be running out of things to tell her with his spells. tapping his shoulder, Helena shrugged. Whats special about your hat? she asked curiously, watching carefully

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"A wizard never tells his secrets, masked one. But if you take that mask off, I might be willing to share some of them once I take a break." he replies, flashing a smile to Helena before going back to juggling balls of light.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Nope, the mask is more important then the secret in this case. Helena says, holding up a hand and making every element she could summon flash around through her palm, each very real before she closed her hand and waved at him before cartwheeling away into a roundoff and then several backflips and handsprings before leaping clear on top of a building, landing lightly on her backside and waving at everyone cheerfully.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena manages to pull her stunt more or less as intended, though she smacks her legs to the edge of the roof. Everyone politely applauds anyway as she waves at them. The magician looks at her thoughtfully for a few moments before continuing with his show.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

She fumbled the landing a bit but she'd just leapt a building. It didn't get better. Waving back, she floated around the city, bouncing from one roof to the next behaving as a performer, waving and doing slight tumbled in strange places. Making a Harmless first appearance that was nonetheless memorable. Part of her plan after all to put the torch to this place just because she could, but the plan was evolving with Jade and this woman she was planning to meet. Along with the temp agency. It would be Spectacular.

For now though she played the fool in the sky. There was enough magic about that she was certain none would question her unnatural leaping too closely and she was masked.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Birds scatter from the roofs as Helena leaps and tumbles about. Some people cheer at her, but most people more or less ignore her after a few looks, continuing on their way as normal

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Perfect. She was getting a birds eye view and no one was screaming or otherwise shooting at her with anything.

If she'd tried this in darkon there would have been arrows EVERYWHERE.

She always took the time to wave at those that cheered at her as she continued to circle the city, looking for more magic users to stare at and trying to figure out what was on her face.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

In about an hour, Helena comes across two more magic-using street performers. Both of them have faint grey auras. The first one has no items with auras, the second has a short sword with a shimmering, steely aura.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

It seemed like things were as she thought it was, enchantments and magics all had different visual auras and cues. She could use the mask to find magic and potentially identify at least it's base elements? Purpose? She wasn't really sure it would take more time or someone who could Identify this damned thing and tell her how it worked.

Her job for the temp agency was now even more fucking important because she needed into their library.

Fuckers.

She decided to circle back to the first mage who's aura had been more impressive, and IF she could find him, trying to find HIM specifically amongst all the people hopefully still trying to make money in the same spot as a street performer, she'd lay down off the side of the same roof she'd tumbled up to before, and then float like a leaf back down in front of him. She was sure to change her fucking face and hair on the way down, shortening it considerably and changing her features drastically. A slightly longer nose, brown eyes, mousy brown hair. Looking for unremarkable as she came down.

I might need your help. I'm not sure how my new toy works. she said, lounging in the air as an outright display of magic by supporting her near non-existent weight with one outstretched arm on a nearby streetlamp that would make people scratch their heads for a bit, before she came down to her feet and took of the mask. Mind helping a girl out?

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

The magician seems surprised as Helena comes back, and finishes his current trick before turning to look at Helena. "Well, I suppose I can take a look." he replies taking the mask and muttering a few eldritch words. "Hmm." He turns the mask in his hands and even tries it on. "Seems to be some kind of divination magic, but that's about all I can tell right now. Fairly powerful, too. How did you activate it, if I may ask?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

I put it on. Helena said, leaning against the pole and smiling. It was a gift for some work I did but I wasn't told it was anything more then a mask. Helena said, shrugging and holding out her hand for the mask.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Strange. It doesn't seem to do anything to me." The magician replies, handing the mask back. "If you come by tomorrow, I can try a more powerful identification spell. For a fee."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Taking the mask, Helena winked at him and placed the mask back over her face. What would that fee be? She asked, tilting her head, actually feeling more comfortable with the mask on if it was in the open like this.

She didn't need his name, he didn't need hers, nor would she reveal her normal face right now with the mask in play. Meanwhile she was slowly picking and digesting at the pair of guards souls. If she wanted more firepower she'd need a few more. She puzzled over that while she waited for an answer.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Oh, five solars should about cover it." the magician replies before picking up a waterskin from his bag and wetting his throat. The crowd around them is beginning to disperse, but he doesn't seem to be in a hurry to continue his show at the moment.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Sounds like a plan, I was already suspect of putting a tingling mask on face, payment or no. Helena said, chuckling as she made doubly sure it was in place, before getting the strangest urge to find a stable. She already missed Azalin's and her time in the stall. She also had no better way to spend her day and the Tip Jar had worked pretty well last time.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Wandering into the merchant's quarter, Helena soon finds a public stable, complete with a grumpy-looking owner and several stablehands doing various tasks to keep the place running

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Seeing the grouch, Helena came forward and smiled. Hi! I'm from Santa to pick up my uniform? Helena said cheerfully and holding out her hand.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

The owner glares at Helena, while the various helpers continue their duties. "Is this supposed to be a prank, with the mask and all? Get your ass out of my stable!"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Such a rude thing to say. Helena said, before reaching out to try and dominate the man's spirit.
