Re: Monster Girl Quest
Iron sights.
Just kidding, though I'd like to say that if I'd known that folks from Ntelliware are actually reading posts on this thread, I'd have put my criticism in a more professional way.
Also, graphics are probably not the most important aspect, albeit that some of the more freakish MGs can probably only be modeled via the "cartoonish" approach in order not to look ridiculous.
So maybe this project is not yet doomed after all
One major aspect of the 3D game conversion however keeps bugging me - the fact that it is intended to add the h-content via a DLC patch (this part I do understand) so that in conclusion the h-scenes may appear after defeat (this part I do understand) while the battles themselves remain non-h (this part I do not). Maybe I am the only one that is concerned about this.
However story-wise I think that especially the non-vore MGs do not intend to injure the player e.g. Luka and thus just try to seduce him. Taking that seduction ability away from them means making them actually violent. Or maybe there is some other way of them fighting Luka besides the "conventional" one (punching, etc.) that escapes me?
No harm done with the criticism, trust me we got plenty of that at the beginning, and I admit it was well deserved. As for the H-scene areas you are confused about, you missed a few important aspects in the development. The MG will still be out to rape you, just without the DLC there will be no graphic displays of it.
For example, low level MG's will have a simple real time battle system. Some may try to hurt you (to make you unable to resist), while others just pounce on you, but whatever their strategy, if they defeat you, the death animation involves them pouncing on your helpless body as the screen fades out. Without the DLC, everybody is clothed. With the DLC, well you get the idea.
Mid level MG will be similar, but the combat will be a real time turn based system, and the MG will be unique and more detailed graphically. These will be the important but not boss MG from MGQ, like the prostitute in Succubus Village. When fighting a mid level, having the DLC will unlock a few more intimate animations during the fight, and afterwards of course.
Boss level MG will be completely old-school turn based with pre-rendered videos of each attack. With the DLC, we simply use different videos. This way, every attack with a boss level enemy is altered to fit the H-scene style.
The whole idea is that monsters are all born female, so they need to mate with humans to survive (adds to the coexistence idea). However not enough men were willing so it has become commonplace for monsters to just out right rape humans. This allows us to keep the story focused around the H-scenes, and keep the H-scenes in the battles. and just cover them up for those who don't want to see them.
So in short, you've got it backwards. We're not making a non-hentai version of MGQ and adding the H-scenes with a DLC, we're making a hentai version of MGQ but covering it up so that the DLC unlocks the good stuff. The main reason we are hiding the h-scenes is because we plan to run a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to help with making the game, and you can't campaign for pornographic games on Kickstarter. So the logical conclusion was to hide the H-scenes, that way we can launch the campaign and also so that gamers who aren't into the H-scenes can enjoy it, but then release a DLC to unlock the H-scenes for those who want to.
And to Crossbow, a run feature will be implemented.
And to Perbert: Alice will have the correct facial expressions when it's all said and done. Wouldn't be right any other way. Angel Halo is a WIP at the moment and isn't high on the priority list, just something we plan to tinker with in our spare time. As far as managing skills, you'll see once the combat prototype is finished. The Succubus Village demo is a WIP to become a combat prototype so everyone can see how the battle mechanics work (we get alot of questions about that aspect, what better way to answer them than to just show everyone). And Luka's face, that's a nver ending battle, lol. Like you said, can't please everybody. After the combat prototype is in its alpha release stage, we plan to take a few suggestions on his face.
