Re: Touhou CYOA - Second edition

"Now, this is where we set the plans of uniting the different beings of Gensokyo under the same roof into motion. No more running around aimlessly, we finally have the means to our end at hand. I want each of you to go out and find the people we have gotten promises of assistance from and guide them to the lagoon where our future method of travel is hidden." Byakuren spoke up to her group, having Murasa tell them about the spot she had hidden the ship in. Once everyone had acknowledged their task, they scattered quickly to find the assistance providers. The mage herself was not going to rest, doing the same thing herself. She soon found Remilia, who was being escorted by Sakuya and a parasol. The little vampire was quick in her reply when the inquiry came. "I did promise such a thing, and you did deliver the letter according to Kanako. I'll send Patchouli over, she will be pleased to see you again. But it might take a bit for her to leave, since I'll send Sakuya along too. Can't have our nice librarian going sick without any help nearby." the mistress of the mansion gave out her promise before taking off with the maid, Meiling and the other vampire.

Still not satisfied with her work, Byakuren went to look around for other people. Soon she found Yukari and her two assistants, who were just about to get away from the plain with the Gap Mistress' power. Calling in the favor, the former monk got Ran to come along with her, Yukari herself being too worn out to any such real work. Once the youkai lady had departed with her cat underling, the fox youkai could be heard muttering something about laziness from under her breath. The two departed towards the lagoon soon after, the chatty Ran's mood a pleasing past-time as they covered the distance. Eventually they were there and somehow beaten in the speed department by Murasa and Yuyuko, who had apparently decided to add her power into the pot.

Sooner or later, everyone that they had asked was there, Patchouli and Sakuya being the last. After giving the sickly librarian a bit of time to recover from her flight, Byakuren began the combined spellcasting with her own incantations. Every other magician joined in turn, from Marisa and Patchouli to Yuyuko and Ran. In the swirling of the gathering magics, the surroundings areas got to see a rather spectacular display of lights and sounds. After what seemed like an eternity of chanting spells to the participants, the ritual was done. Just to confirm the workability of the newly-enchanted ship, Murasa got up to the great wheel that controlled the ship. Tinkering with it a bit, she soon got the ship off the water. With a slight whoop of celebration from the rest of her group, Byakuren stepped on the deck after offering her sincerest thanks to each of the assistant mages, feeling an intense relief that she had succeeded. With the ship now operational, she offered each of them passage back to their homes as the first task the enchanted boat would perform.

In the late evening, after delivering Patchouli and Sakuya back to the mansion, the group were gathered at the deck while the ship was in free flight at the skies of Gensokyo. But as if to spite them, fate had something in store for them. It was as if a bump had hit their ship, sending the colorful group tumbling across the deck as their vessel began to lose altitude. Quickly hurrying back to the controls after a quick recovery, even Murasa could not get them to stop the steady lowering. After a while spent on maneuvering, she managed to safely land the ship into the lake near the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Looked like something had failed in the combined spell.

With their spirits flattened remarkably by this, the group settled down into the inner portions of the ship for the night. Byakuren herself was not able to do so immidiately, looking at the night sky from the front of the ship as she pondered where they had gone wrong and what to do about this. The mage already had a few options in mind

A. Gather more spellpower from other inhabitants yet to take part

B. Seek an alternate power source from machinery

C. Some other devious scheme

C) Track down and capture Nue and use her as a figurehead, that should power the ship through her unknown force.

Machines are only minor devil magic, we need actual devil magic!

Edit: On second thought, the fake yama must die!

Let's use Nue as our power source. She has a lot to answer for, and bleeding her dry to make our ship fly is a fitting retribution.

Back again! I would say C, in a sort of combination of B and A. Try to find an alternate power source but if a really good one can't be found, gather more support. Surly there are others out there that we can shamelessly exploit!

Re: Touhou CYOA - Second edition

For some reason, thoughts of the perpetrator at the games floated in Byakuren's mind among her other plans to power up the ship with machinery. Maybe that immensely powerful being could be a power source... "Gah! What am I thinking...." the mage said out loud despite being on the deck by herself. Shaking her head briefly, she returned her thoughts back to the machinery option. The mountain-dwelling kappa Nitori could possibly help out with such a request, but what she would want in return for a huge undertaking like this was another thing in itself to consider. With all this pondering going on, the pondering former monk started heading towards the cabin, intent on joining her group for much-needed rest. The incantations to ready the ship had been long and arduous, making her desire sleep.

But before she could reach the door, a faint sense of movement alarmed Byakuren to the presence of a possible intruder. No-one was visible, so she began to look around. Following one side of the cabin, she went to the back side, still not finding anyone until a suspiciously intentional-sounding cough caught her attention. Leaning against the back wall of the cabin was the mysterious impersonator, looking at her with an utterly indifferent look. "Greetings, Byakuren Hijiri. Fancy meeting you on such a beautiful night..." she spoke up, not looking all that malicious and apparently healed up too, as there was no sign of injury on her when she got to moving. "I'll keep this brief. I learned of your purpose in doing these things from another inhabitant of the land. Despite my seeming evilness, I wish to further this cause of human/youkai relations and have come with a gift." she carried on as she walked to one side, producing a fist-sized orb of power that glowed with ever-shifting colors. "This is what I want you to use. Plant it on the ship's helm, where it will act as a substitute for the failed ceremony you had earlier." the imposter yama finished, offering this curious orb to her while still looking as indifferent as before.

A. Accept it

B. Decline the offer

C. Attack her

D. THIS IS OTHER IDEA!

C) Right, this is totally not suspicious at all, I say we beat some answers out of her. Just so certain voters will get some peace at heart even though we're likely going to get out asses kicked. '.'

Re: Touhou CYOA - Second edition

Despite the temptation of such an offer, Byakuren had a strong suspicion about the honesty of this imposter. There probably was something she had no idea about hidden in the enchantments of this curious artefact, something infinately harmful. And the offering person herself was far from trustworthy in her mind, so better not take chances. Pretending to accept the offer, she reached for the orb. But instead of taking it, the mage mouthed off a quick spell, blasting the imposter yama straight to the face with a mid-level danmaku at point-blank range. Despite having reflexes that shamed most youkai, the fake could not escape the blast at this range and crumbled to the ground in a heap, the orb flying away and eventually coming to rest on the deck some distance away from them. It looked like the hostility of the situation had been defused before it could even start.

"Hmm, this was easy... I thought she had more power in her..." Byakuren thought as she watched the downed imposter from her spot. There was a small amount of bloodstains on the deck near her head, so the attack had most definately hit home, if not with the entirety of it's power. But soon the girl stirred, bleeding quite heavily as she crawled over to the wooden railings to lean against them. A familiar distortion soon surrounded her, and the strange form shifted away to reveal a completely different being. This one was not the fake yama at all, but what seemed to be some kind of raccoon girl, complete with a huge and fluffy striped tail. A yellowish-brown frilly shirt and red patterned skirt made up her clothing, a notebook and a somewhat Suika-ish drinking gourd hanging on her belt. Short brown hair was her chosen style, and for some reason she had a leaf in her hair. Most curious thing about her besides the tail was a pair of glasses, something Byakuren had not seen on anyone else besides the shopkeeper Rinnosuke. The ones on this girl were now cracked or broken though, results from the surprise attack. Coughing up some blood to the deck, the raccoon managed to speak up. "Well now... that was... unexpected..." she could barely say before collapsing among the blood. It looked like they had been deceived again.

Going over to the raccoon, Byakuren inspected her, noticing that she was not dead yet. There was still life in her, but she would not survive long with her current wounds. There was also the matter of the orb to deal with.

1. The girl?

A. Take her in and treat her wounds

B. Leave her alone

C. Some other thingy

2. The orb of shiny colors?

A. Destroy it

B. Keep it and use it

C. Keep it but store it in a safe place

D. Toss it away

E. Something else in your little mind

Re: Touhou CYOA - Second edition

1 C) What Tass said below.
2 C) Keep it hidden out of reach for the girl and find out what it is, make sure it isn't going to explode once we touch it though.

1C: Strip her naked and tie her up, then have her healed enough for proper "questioning."

2C! It must be studied. Or something.

1) A Question her after healing her and all that nice stuff.

2) C We need to see what it is. But don't let the girl have it, let's try to get her to tell us.
