Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Whatever works. I don't mind having one on one super cuddles with Ventus either.

It's just odd that three Xirce types are being goons for Ventus if there's such alignment hatred between the two.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Well the clerics the least opposed since LN. The paladin is LG as well so she;s opposed equally but diffrently to Ventus as Xirce and Kaila and Vel, along good vs evil rather than law vs chaos.

Dasyra and Lena are actually more aligned opposed than Kaila is. Good opposes Evil but are one step on law and chaos. Kaila is opposed on chaos but matches on evil.

Kaila's here because she got tossed out here for reasons. But she can play along to authority. Until she doesn't. Bigger Fish however is a significant deal. Fighting each other is dumb when your status quo might get hijacked by enemies. And Xirce doesn't strike me as dumb.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Wait, are you including Asheroth as a agent of Xirce? I don't think Ash has ever met the demoness.

Uh, not really sure how she'd join up. Is Xirce and Ventus both mistresses for different characters in this campaign? What exactly is the situation here?

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

As far as the threat of mutiny goes, Lior's loyalty to Xirce is marginal at best. It was more a rock and a hard place (she finds being undead to be one of the worst possible fates). Having had to work for Xirce for a while, I'd imagine she'd actually harbor more of a grudge towards her than Ventus at this point.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Evidently mix ups and such. Huh alright so the cleric and Kaila might know each other.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

I'll go take a look at Kaila, I don't see why not!

Edit:
Now that I've taken a look, I'm sure they'd be rivals. Both of them serve a higher power, both of them seek to convert others to their cause, etc. The only difference is that they worship very different gods in very different ways. Kaila seems to be the antithesis of Lior in many ways. No way Lior would forget a character like that.

Makes sense. Nocticula might have both evil and good followers but she is most definetly chaotic.

Bit of history there. For a long time there's been rumors of Nocticula actually seeking divinity to ascend to being a non-evil goddess of artists, outcasts and the glories of midnight. These "heretical cults" actually receive spells, which upsets the mainline religion. Nocticula herself doesn't say anything against the heretics and actually seems to enjoy the gnashing of teeth happening.

She's always been a pretty atypical demon lord to say the least.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Okay, apparently the halberd isn't a reach weapon, which makes no sense at all to me.

Can we homebrew it?

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Dnd has a history of not understanding weapons. The weights are all way off. If longswords were 8 pounds it'd fly out of your hand every time you swung it.

The Longspear is the size of a typical spear when it's meant to represent the waaaaaay bigger Pike.

So yeah. I wouldn't look for realistic weapon design in dnd anywhere.

I mean the Bastard Sword isn't even a real sword. Bastard Swords are swords with a specific hilt. Longswords aren't really a sword either but more a classification of a variety of swords. Technically the Greatsword is a longsword.

Yeah, the bastard sword makes no sense in Pathfinder. It's meant to be a sword that can be easily one handed or two handed in a duel, yet requires exotic proficiency to be used one handed?

I mean, I get that you gotta have balance, but can you at least balance it with realism? If 5e is an indicator, I guess not.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Yeah, but that's a longsword. It's literally a longsword that is one die bigger. The bastard sword in pathfinder is only remarkable as being the only sword that is usable by medium creatures at large size to have an actual mechanical benefit. I could go on looooong rants on some of the dumb balance decisions done for the sake of subjective "realism." Frankly Realism in pathfinder usually is code for fuck non casters.

But eh, working on fixing it eventually. Meantime, maybe you could refluff the Horsechopper as a halbard. Alternatively you could use

Incidently don't you get Skill Focus as a bonus feat? So shouldn't you have another feat?

I might just reskin the Glaive-Guisarme as a Halberd. A 1d10 Reach weapon is all i'm honestly asking for.

Um, why exactly would I get skill focus? Something in my build, or is this in Pervy's char gen?

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Id Brawler

Atavistic Avatar (Su)

An id rager chooses one emotional focus to define his core: anger, dedication, despair, fear, hatred, jealousy, remorse, or zeal.

At 1st level, he gains Skill Focus as a bonus feat in one skill associated with his atavistic focus.

Oh wait I see where you put it. It's kinda tucked in there.

Oh yeah, I chose Diplomacy for that. I put it in my class section, though I should probably stick it in chosen as well.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

That or put it in a more distinct spot in class selection perhaps. Either way though, least it's there.

But yeah, refluffing a horse chopper could work. It's... Basically identical to the Halbard except it has reach.

Yeah, that'd work. I question why they needed weapons so similar in the first place. Did horsechopper really need to exist?

Edit: Wooooooo, 15th post! I can actually do things now!

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Uh, how does one format image size in a thread? Is it even an option?

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

It's meant to be a goblin weapon, a crude piece of metal on a long stick. But Pathfinder is full of redundancies and pointless things that shouldn't have been printed.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

.. Dabomb you played in the first campaign. How can you not know the mistresses? Or, alternatively, if Asheroth doesn't know them, how did you intend to join the campaign?

Your character will start off as slave for one or the other.

I am fully aware who the Mistresses are, i'm confused on who the current Mistress is for the group. Is it both? Just Ventus?

And I didn't realize I had to already be a slave, what would make things easier?
