Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

So, who is currently active in this? I saw numerous more names in the character thread.

Blueslime, Zilrax, and mind flayer, right? Is that everyone?

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Yeah pretty much.

You've got Dasyra, Ventus' biggest fan, elf slut and archer ranger. Kaila's gonna try and convince Ventus that making her a zombie probably would mar her rather than exemplify her and she should go make her something else by getting her sword if it comes to that.

We've got Lena, Aasimar two weapon ranger, who's a giant subby softy and easily controlled by others and tends to stumble her way into bad situations reliably.

We've got my characters, Kailanereth the Tiefling Wizard/Demoniac and Vellarius the Combat Quasit familiar. Kaila is an evil, dominant but friendly demon worshippor and is hoping to use this as a stepping stone to greater power, and hopes she can encourage more demoning on the way. Vel is a lazy somewhat sadistic demon who delights in dominating things bigger than her, and is a lot more dangerous than she tends to let on. Neithers liable to turn on the party and would rather get along but well if they need to choose between your hides and theirs well...

So yeah dere's da rundowns.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Don't be a necromancer around her either it turns out. Ventus is alright but she's definitely not very social due to said angst. Kaila is gonna work on that though. Too much moodyness make Kaila something something.

Right now the tiefling is sorta oscillating between do I save my own skin and bolt, save everyone, or save myself so I can save everyone later sorta deal. She'd rather not have o go with number one for a variety of reasons though, so she's gonna try and use the fact she's two people to her advantage.

Course the fact that nobody in the party can detect, dispel or in any means affect psionics does not help whatsoever.

I play to concept, not to have an answer to everything. #spellcaster-master-race

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Well nobody has an answer at all to this so... That;s a problem.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Elf slut builds rarely do.

I'm hoping that there's some sort of magical electrical outlet and one of the new PCs is going to trip over the cord and unplug our anti magic field and mind control do-hickeys.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Eh that's sorta best case scenario. It's psionics, not magic and we're using the non interlap rules. That means if this effect is not tied to a person we can kill or an object that can be smashed, we're out of luck. Doesn;t help there;s a Use Magic Device skill but no Use Psionic Device so we can;t skill hack an answer either.

We're gonna have to go enslave a psion/wilder. Only answer I can think of, besides planar binding a psionic demon if I can find one in pathfinder.

And it's no ones fault really, we all bring diffrent things to the table. Just well, nobody can bring an answer to mind magic so we're gonna have to hope that the gods are merciful and such. Else well we're living here for now on.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Hopefully I can come smashing in to the rescue? My Will save is pretty high, so Illithids shouldn't be too much of a problem for me.

Well, if I ever get the damn collar off, that is. I got shit saves at the moment.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Yeah, I'm not too worried about a paladin making saves. My concerns with having to deal with the things that don't have saves, like Astral Constructs, or dealing with the effects of things that already failed saves, like mind controlled people.

Though really you;d be in trouble anyways cus they've someone who can use Anti-Magic Field, and they can psionic at you and you can't smite them or have divine grace. But hey, no collar then.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Just shoot them with arrows and hit them with sharp and/or heavy things.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Huh, apparently Bloodrage is a supernatural ability too. Huh. Well that makes things awkward.

Though, that bears the question. If I got Bloodrage and Rage, would they stack?

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

They do not. They're both morale bonuses. One will let you do your blood rage stuff, the other will let you do your rage powers. doing both at once let's you do both, but you only use the bigger morale bonus.

Given you already have a morale bonus from two diffrent sources, if you're looking just to keep boost your attack and damage, your next addition should be Alchemist.

But personally if I were you I'd just keep doing paladin since your damage scales with paladin level off smite.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Well, shit. That makes a Prestige class I was planning on a bit difficult to incorporate.

Anyway, yeah I was planning on continuing Paladin. I need to get those Domain abilities and spells. They're particularly good.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Hm? What was your plan anyways? I've not seen a multiclass like that since the time I went Half-Orc Bone Oracle 1, Ninja 4, Shadowdancer 3, Demoniac 10. I was the ultimate demonic necro assassin cult leader of the demon lord of ghouls! It was quite amusing. Totally not optimised but I managed well by leveraging HiPS and my Shadow Companion well.

And the last boss was a dryad Mystic theurge. In a tiny room. So I made my save vs Blind, UMD'd a scroll of Antimagic Field then went to town with my artifact sword because Anti Field doesn't affect artifacts.

Morale of the story is spellcasters shouldn't fight in tiny rooms.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

I was planning on taking some levels in Ulfric guard (Furious Garden) to become ultimate tank or the party. But that class uses normal rage, so it doesn't stack.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Any advice on how to be a better healer?

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Vitalist Class is the best healing class made thus far, though it is third party. Alone it's strong, combined with other healing capable classes like Paladins or Clerics they become amazing. Even without the heals, their ability to efficiently stack large amounts of temporary hp on allies is amazingly life saving.

As a cleric, healing... Isn't going to be your strong suit until you get access to the Heal spell itself. Most cure spells are simply better off as wands and the cleric positions their spells more for status removal, combat buffs and utility and summons for maximum efficiency. Fact is, unless you're a Vitalist or using Heal, in combat healing is too inefficient to matter unless the healing done keeps someone from dying.

This doesn't count for Paladins though, who's ability to Lay on Hands on themselves is amazingly powerful if put toghether properly. (Tiefling Favored Class+Fae Foundling allows for massive self heals per use)

Personally for clerics I spec for war clerics jsut because the cleric has really limited options otherwise. Most their best spells have no saves so they don't need much wis, channel energy is a joke without a Vitalist to make it good or EXTREME specialisation towards it, and using their own buffs they become an incredibly solid faux martial while still wielding many powerful problem solving skills.

But that's me. I'll have to do some investigation in the Healer's Handbook but just off top of my head... As a cleric, you really can't be that great a healer in combat. Damage just outramps healing too easily.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

An Oracle with the Life Mystery is a really good class to dip if you want really good heals.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Yeah Oracle is adequate at it. Though a one level Vitalist dip will let you work psionic junk and able to leverage channel properly. Course, you will want to invest in Flexible Channel or whatever it's called, the one that let's you channel the other energy at a -2 level penalty just cus we've got a mix of positive and negative polarity characters. Or will, anyways.

Re: Trapped in the Underdark ~ Out of Character discussion

Huh. we're talking builds all of a sudden. :p

Oh, I should clarify, theres no antimagic field in the room you are currently in, I'd have added that to the description.

You do realize theres a healing domain and it has that name for a reason, eh? :p
