Been a Lurker for awhile, had a user but somehow i don't even remember the email to it. Anyhow, this is what I've managed to figure out while playing the game multiple times. This will also be for those who doesn't want to go back on a few pages to find out.
First play through: Pretty Linear as mentioned by others. You'll get the Normal Ending.
Second play through and up, New Game plus, alternate routes are opened up. The first one will be noticeable when you reach Stage 3-4, with the slugs on almost every platform, There will be the first door opened at the bottom most right. The first person you save is a blonde girl, Who I am assuming, is the Succubus who pretty much causes a game over, when instantly touched with 0 HP. Once you rescue her, the path to the next alternate route, will open up right after the boss fight in that same stage, topmost right, up the stairs. You'll actually notice that since you save her, You won't run into any succubuses at all.
Following the 2nd route, is where you'll meet up with Constance, the heroine's sister, which the spellcaster boss is performing a ritual to turn her into the Dark Priest. Defeating the boss here will save her, and you'll get a short reunion with the two. Once that is done, you'll go through a couple more areas, which will lead you back onto the main path, to fight the spellcaster, and the rest continues on from there. Beating the game on the True ending will unlock certain things as well. For those that played Castlevania: Dracula X, or Rondo of Blood, its almost identical. Saving the girls willl lead to a different path and getting different endings.
On the main menu, This is how it translates from what I figured with some help from the threads itself.
- Stage Select 1-6 (Unlocks during playthrough)
- Lives/Yggdrasil Leaves (Higher death count, higher it goes)
- Magic/Blue Gemstones (Same as Above)
- Starting Point Beginning, After Saving The first Girl, or After Saving Constance. (Available after saving at least one girl)
- Power mode [Similar to Richter/Julius Mode] (Available after obtaining the true ending) I'll explain the differences shortly.
- Advanced Stage Select (Unlocks after beating the game once. Paths will only be available to the one you've cleared.)
For the Power Mode, you're pretty much like a Belmont. Insane power and speed. Thus making the game like an easy mode.
- Attacks and Magic Attack Power Increased Dramatically.
- Rapid Dive kick. If you hold the jump and the direction to kick, Marianne will kick infinitely.
- Dive kick Speed Boost. if you land a dive kick and hold the direction you're going to walk, she runs at a high speed pace.
- Unlimited Jumps. Holding up and Pressing jump repeatedly, will let you jump without limits. perfect for places like the clock stage.
- Super Teleport. No cool downs on the teleporting skill, So you can travel across maps, even while in midair on the same leverage of when you casted it. No Invincibility frames though, so if you land on an enemy, you will get hurt and it will cancel out.
I think This sums up about what i can think of. Hopefully this will clear up many things for you guys. I feel like I may have missed something, though.
