"One person going off on their own would only serve to get themselves killed, and to alert Gaedrun that enemies are closing in. There are enough of us that we might be able to eliminate a small group of his thugs without any of them even noticing."

Allesharra nods to Ankieseth's planning, "I agree. Our best bet would be to split into two teams of three, one group to distract and try to draw as many guards and lackeys from the entrance and Gaedrun as possible, the other group to head in after the guards are separated and attempt to locate and take the bastard out. And if possible Yargin as well, just to make sure his sick business venture can't be picked up or resurrected any way."

"That may work." Jess agrees with a nod. "So what, the loudest three run the distraction, the quietest try to get inside? Obviosly Izak there for the sneaky group, myself as well. Hmm..." She says, and ponders for a moment, looking over the others gathered. "How about you, Ankieseth? Or maybe you, Raven?"

Ankieseth turned to the halfling as she spoke, but hesitated a moment, simply staring at her. "I can avoid being seen, if I must." He said, after a moment.

Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

Recap:

OOC stuff first: Shrike's last post has a list of the loot. It's mostly junk to sell. Also, the entire party got a total of 825 experience. That's 825, as Keylo gave us 625 for completing the dungeon, 100 for doing the recap for him, and then an extra 100 for completing the dungeon without setting off any alarms.

The session started with the infiltration group, led by Ankieseth, starting in through a side entrance while the distraction group, led by Raven, knocked on the front door. Raven entered into a surprisingly friendly discussion with Yagrin (I think that was the name) about someone trying to kill Gaedran. After some extremely high bluff checks on Raven's part, he was actually believing them, and told them to keep it quiet.

At the same time, the group consisting of Ankieseth, Izak and Jess was sneaking through the place, and heard a gnome speaking through the double doors. We went down the stairs instead, and came upon a half orc torturing some children. Izak promptly one shotted him with a sneak attack, and Ankieseth looted some stuff off of him before we dropped his corpse into the river. The children cheered, but we got them to keep quiet, and then after asking a few questions we continued on. Ankieseth, who was wearing his angry face at this point, walked somewhat loudly into the room with the gnome, and he took notice. Jess ran into the room and hit him in the face with a knife, and then Ankieseth walked up and backhanded him with a greatsword, knocking him out.

The distraction party, in the mean time, had decided that they didn't much like Yagrin, and killed him. And his dog. Elizabeth and Alla.... Whatever Tenta's character name is did it. But then Raven went and killed the man, which Elizabeth found upsetting for some reason. They began sifting through the guys office, and then went on to sift through his other office, while the infiltration group stripped the unconscious gnome and sent the children to wait with the others in the area where we killed the orc. Elizabeth noticed this and joined us, as Tenta wasn't coming back and Spider went to bed. We used her rope to leave the gnome hanging unconscious over a vat of low concentration acid, and then headed off toward the boat that Gaedran was supposed to be on.

Izak dropped nimbly onto his ass through a hole in the back, and was almost eaten by spiders, but he, Jess and Elizabeth managed to kill all of them. We searched around for a bit, and then found a secret passageway into another lair, which we followed, and found our man. He proceeded to monologue, but Jess got impatient, and tried to throw a knife at him, but he magically stopped time using mystical cutscene powers and summoned a fucking alligator. The place was kind of a mess for fighting, with a big hole in the middle, but we did pretty well. Ankieseth shot Gaedran after he shot Jess, Izak snuck around, and Elizabeth almost fell in the pit of sharks while trying to hit the alligator with a hammer. Jess chucked a knife at Gaedran and tumbled through, so the jackoff quaffed a healing potion on his turn while the alligator tried and failed to eat the halfling. Elizabeth hammered the alligator, but then the lizard got pissed and bit her, dropping her in one shot. It was about this time that Izak took off his scarf and used it to drop Gaedran from 10 feet away like fucking Kratos, and then Ankieseth tried to keep the lizard from dragging Elizabeth into the water and sharing her with the sharks with fairly mixed results. Jess and Izak tried to bring it down as well, but only Jess managed to hit. The thing tried to run away, but then got eaten by a shark. Serves it right.

Ankieseth stabilized Elizabeth and Gaedran, and then we used a healing potion to revive her so that she could handcuff Gaedran after getting some more loot, including one as yet unclaimed healing potion. We looked around, got a big chunk of loot including the queens brooch, which has a 1200 gp reward out for it, and then found the fortune tellers decapitated head in a box. It talked to us, but Ankieseth was having none of it. Elizabeth seemed fine with it though, and lifted the head to find a glowing deck of cards. Ignoring Ankieseths advice to not take an intelligent magic item as level 1 characters, the ghost and the party spoke for a while about some destiny and oncoming chaos and oaths to the city nonsense, and then we went back upstairs.

The kids had been using the gnome as a pinata, but we got them to leave him alone for long enough to question him. He didn't know anything though, so Ankieseth cut him down, handed Elizabeth her rope back, and then cut him open, reached in to grab his intestines, and tossed him into the vat of acid. This acid was low concentrate, and used to dissolve fish guts. It started doing a number on the gnome, but Elizabeth didn't seem to like this. She and Ankieseth engaged in a philosophical debate, mostly for Gaedran's and Izaks' benefit, as Jess had fled the room when the guts had come out.

After a while, Ankieseth got bored, and question Gaedran while Elizabeth pointlessly attempted to save the gnome's life. Gaedran eventually gave up what Ankieseth wanted to know, and then Izak punched him in the face. After that, we grabbed the children and left the warehouse.

Once outside, we found the place in utter chaos, with all kinds of shit and fire and griffin riders flying through the sky. A crier announced that the king was dead, and that the queen had taken rule of the city, and that was where we ended off.

Ankieseth turned immediately toward the children they had with them, and shouted; "Stay close together and stick by at least one of us! There's no telling what could happen in this mess!"

Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)

Extended Personal Recap for Raven:

Raven, during his rummaging of the fishery's records would be unable to find anything that might allow him to prove his lover's innocence. It seemed that Yaegrin, though perhaps a bit overconfident in his abilities, was quite careful about disposing most evidence of illegal activities. Well, at least as far as he was concerned. With that option out of the way, it might be prudent to start looking into other avenues, perhaps recognition from nobility or the likes to erase that ill stain upon her name...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back in the Present:
Ankieseth's words would be given at an opportune time, as it is then that a shriek is heard from above them...the sound of a griffon's cry. Followed by what appears to be a shower of red rain over the group as the proud beast appears to have been shot out of the air, and plummets...Crashing in dangerous proximity of the gathering of orphans, who are at this point not screaming...but looking awfully unsettled.
"Everyone get back inside! This is no place for kids!" Raven shouts, raising his voice to be heard over the chaos.
Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)
Elizabeth looks through the air wildly as the city she had grown up in was burning around her, her hand slowly reaching for her maul as she hears the screams. Her thoughts instantly went to her sister, was she safe? She knew this city probably wasn't the best place for the girls to grow up, but she never thought it would come to this! She ducks slightly as the the griffin comes crashing down onto the ground, barely missing the children, she looks at Ankieseth as she yells, "You! Get the children to safety! I have business to attend to!" She hurriedly looks around, trying to plan a route back to the small house where she lived with her sister...
Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)
Ankieseth turned to Elizabeth as she shouted orders at him, but the look on her face and the urgency in her voice kept him from replying with anything hasty. He hadn't really intended to do anything differently anyway. "We need to find someplace safe to take them! They can't stay here!" He shouted over that chaos going on around them while turning to Raven.
Ankieseth also glanced toward the fallen gryphon rider, wondering if either the man or the beast were still alive.
Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)
Jess looked around at the fires and chaos, seemingly dumbstruck for a moment. Then she reminded herself that the nobility changed all the time, this one just seemed a little worse than normal.
"The place I'm staying has a root cellar!" She called out above the turmoil. "It's in Old Korvosa, chances are it'll be a bit quieter there as well." She explains, waving an arm to indicate the way to go, and trying to get the children to follow her.
Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)
Finding a way around in general however, would appear to be harder than one would like. Already mobs had begun to fill the streets, armed with shovels, lead pipes, pitchforks, and all sorts of improvised weapons...some of which in combat already with either members of the town guard or Chileax's hellknights. Chants accompanied such chaos, ones such as: "Hang the queen!” or “The usurper whore must die!”...the people in their frenzy were out for blood. Mad proclamations of Korvosa's doom accompanied some, crazed cultists or the like declaring the wrath of the gods upon this chaotic city. Going alone at this time seemed almost a suicidal idea...
As for the fallen Gryphon rider, both the mount and its rider seemed dead as a doornail. If not from their fall, then from the crossbow bolts that lined their corpses.
Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)
Ankieseth scowled as he saw that both rider and beast were dead. Still, it couldn't be helped, and he turned to view the utter chaos that surrounded them now once more with his dark expression still in place. The mad chants, and the battle between the guards and hellknights against the citizens of Korvosa was not what he would have wanted to take a group of children through, but it could hardly be helped now. Turning to the halfling, he shouted; "Unless anyone has a better idea, we'll go with that. You lead, but stay close, and stay away from other groups! We can't afford to get caught up in this madness, not with children with us.
"No kidding!" Jess called back, the noise of the city forcing her to raise her volume. "We'll cross to Old Korvosa on the Narrows, the main bridge is likely to be crowded, so we'll go as far West as we can and cross on the docks there. Only a few blocks from there to the house, it's on a side street between Wave and Arkona street!" She explains, pointing in the proper direction. "Izak and I should stay a corner ahead, so we have a bit of warning if we need to find another way. Everyone good with that?" She asks, looking over to Izak specifically.
Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)
Upon hearing the enraged and riotous cries of the citzenry, Allesharra immediately began to grow steadily more tense, especially with the man responsible for their agony and suffering in manacles dragging along with them. Fuck, out of the frying pan and into the fire. The people want the queen's head, and is a virtual cinderbox. It won't take much at all I fear for them to blow up and the streets to burst in riots and violence. The sooner we get this old bastard to the law or somewhere we can dispose of his worthless body, the better. She thought to herself before hearing Jess's indication of her residence and the others agreement of heading there. "Yeah, I think we need to get out of the mad house the streets are turning into before things get worse. These kids have been through enough hell for their young lives already." She would then look towards Gaedren with a dark grim expression on her face hidden behind her cloak, Don't get too comfortable bastard. You'll get what you deserve soon enough..........
"I could scout from the rooftops. That would give me a much longer range of vision." Izak replies to Jess' plan, seemingly indifferent to the situation around him. "I live in the Shingle, rooftop running is my specialty." he says, observing the burning skyline with a look of thought on his mind.
"I had a feeling you were a shingler." Jess replied to Izak, looking around at the others, momentarily surprised that she had been elected impromptu leader. She seemed to settle into the role well enough, though. "Alright then, we'll head towards the Acadamae for the most part, hopefully the mages there have the streets under better control. Let's go." She says and starts jogging northward, hoping to set a good pace.
Re: Curse of the Crimson Throne: Edge of Anarchy (IC Thread)
((Okay, exams done. Skyrim put aside for now...))
Choosing to shepherd their company of orphans to Old Korvosa along the way of the Acadamae, the former gathering of vengeance seekers would find that the threat of arcane wrath seemed to keep the more unsightly rabble away from the area, along with their numbers seemed to keep them out of trouble for the most part, barring having to make a detour once to stay out of the way of a wizard's duel.
However, although that was not to say travelling in a wizard saturated area meant safety in a city full of chaos. Rather, in one way, it was perhaps more dangerous. For just as it seemed they would guide the former "Lambs" to safety, high pitched infernal cackling filled the air... Their source being that of two...no four free imps, a favorite familiar of many conjurers, hovering over head, with predatory looks in their beady eyes.
"A pack of new wannabe adventurers and a gathering of children! Free loot!"
"Imps, up above!" Ankieseth said, and instantly drew his bow and took aim at one of the floating creatures. Releasing a shot at one of the tiny hovering devils, the ranger shouted; "Keep moving! We need to get clear of them!"
2 + 4 = 6 = miss.
