In the demo version I couldn't get the eggs to breed more foes, so don't know if this element was removed or just disabled in the demo.
I think they made a blog post a while back where they said originally they had eggs spawning more foes,
but that ended up breaking game balance by making breeding too overpowered, so after some consideration they removed it from this game.

Of course, that's going by my interpretation of a machine translation, it's quite possible that I misunderstood the post entirely.

I opened the link to dlsite on the first post of this thread in a different browser that i normally use and the trial button became available. Try that.

Okay so I've played the demo and what Lipucd said is true. This is basically a rehash of Creature Hunter. Gameplay is the same, equipments and skills work the same, IE you're useless and have no special attacks until you make the required item to give you one, but there are some things that have changed. The biggest is that the artwork for status effects can be layered IE a character can be a pregnant lactating futa and actually show all of those at once even in the cut-in attacks. Sadly there's isn't a slutty character like the redhead bard from Creature Hunter instead every girl can become horny/cursed" represented as a glowing womb mark overlayed on the character when it starts getting too high and can be considered a mix of a paralysis/confusion status as characters with this are both really slow to act, sometimes don't act at all or will instead attack themselves or party members.
Some statuses act weird though. At current pregnancy no longer cures at the end of a battle making you HAVE to either use an item to cure it or birth and then run into a healing mushroom or drink a potion to regain health. Infact most statuses, even pinned status, carries over from battle to battle but not lactation which is kinda funny since that's the poisoned status. I'm really hoping the game has more two it because the demo has 4 enemies, not including the spawners, and they all have the same method of attack with 2 of them both inflicting the futa and lust status, and the other two the pregnant status. I tried to see if they interacted with any of the other status effects but didn't really see anything.

TLDR: it's Creature Hunter 2.0 with some weird tweaks seemingly made for the sake of difficulty.

So, I want to try this demo out, but something's broken and I don't know how to fix it.

Sometimes, I get a bug with RPG Maker games where the X key just stop working, meaning I can't open or close menus, and I normally need to restart the game entirely to fix it. For this game, this issue affects me the MOMENT I load into the game.

Anyone have any idea what the hell is happening for me?

I've not seen this particular problem before, I think, so just some wild guesses:
- Try downloading a fresh RTP just in case this is a bug in an old version
- Try pressing F1 and see if the keyboard-to-button assignments are screwed up somehow
- Maybe windows is trying to be clever and switching to a different keyboard layout or input mode? Does ESC also not work?

II've played around with F1, everything is right and even reconfiguring it away from X/numpad0 doesn't help. I did notice my PC wanted to use a japanese keyboard though, and wanted to input hira/kata, which I turned off, still no dice.

I do have a way around it, because for some reason changing what program is at the "front" causes the game to input an X prompt, so alt tabs, minimising, even pressing the windows key to bring up the start menu.

I can't even get past the tutorial mission. It says to go fight the enemy but then it forces me to escape so I can't actually fight it.

there's a dpad that appears, you need to hit the arrow key that the game shows, it's teaching you how to essentially avoid/defend some attacks

then the escape tutorial ends, the enemy is still there and there's no way to progress? It does the escape thing every time.

I think you're in the 'stealth' section, where you're supposed to make your way through without enemies noticing you.

nope, the problem was that hitting the right direction on the escape prompt was dumping me out of the battle. However, restarting the PC fixed the problem and the tutorial runs normally. Thanks anyway guys

From the person that takes you to the world map, walk a bit left and up the stairs, and you'll see an NPC with an exclamation mark over their head.
Talk to them (may need multiple times, until they no longer have an exclamation mark) to advance story and unlock more areas.
In the demo, one area is accessible, consisting of 3 stages: The tutorial and two boss stages.

I need to write a quick guide for this game soon, it seems...

Game guide, the first: Controls.
Standard controls for the most part. Beware that in some screens and messages, the game refers to logical gamepad buttons, not physical keyboard keys.
Logical-to-physical is as follows: A is shift, B is X/ESC, C is Z/enter, X is A, Y is S, Z is D, L is Q, R is W.
Controls in standard keyboard layout:
Arrow keys to move cursor/character
Z: confirm
X: menu/cancel
shift: run (while held).
ctrl, hold: Skip dialogue (during conversations) - maybe also W?
alt+enter: Fullscreen (in a way that will likely upset your windows 10 fullscreen programs - you may get better results using win+plus instead to enable windows' screen magnifier accessibility feature and zooming it suitably, instead)
F12: Hard reset
F5: Open volume adjustment screen (somewhat accidentally also doubles as a universal pause button)
F2: Display/hide FPS in title bar
F1: Open RPGMaker settings (General settings / assign gamepad buttons / assign keyboard buttons; the first settings page is: start in fullscreen / reduce screen flickering / play music / play sound effects)

In equip screens:
left/right: Switch character (also in other screens where this makes sense)
shift: Unequip
In shop screens:
A: switch between costs-to-craft and can-be-equipped-by views in the right sidebar

In combat:
Arrow keys to select target, also to react to combat QTE
Z: select/confirm
X: cancel / switch turn (reduces action bar slightly, use if you want another character to go first)
W, hold: Escape (If it's currently your turn, press W+X to switch out of turn. Won't work if any player characters are in grabbed state)
Q, hold: Enable/disable passive mode (all player characters automatically pass their turns)

In level navigation:
Q/W: Cycle quick item bar left/right
S: Use currently-selected quick item (beware: does NOT pause enemy movement!)

Translation of important menus:
Game menu (press X during normal character navigation)
Use item
Check abilities
Check status
Check enemy log
Review mission objective
Cancel current mission (next dialogue is "are you sure yes/no")
Game guide
Review lewd record
Configure game options
Save
Quit (next dialogue is "to main menu / to desktop / cancel")
Game options (third-to-last item in the game menu - press up/down to select option and Z to toggle)
Display cut-in
Cut-in time (short 2s / long 5s / manual until button press)
When to display damage numbers (during cut-in / after cut-in)
Display X-ray
Display status effects on player characters
Player character view down to (neck / bust / hip / legs)
Display reaction dialogue
Enable quick item (this sometimes seems to have effect backwards? Or just displays wrong in the options menu)
Cut-in background effect (Need to be purchased in the shop first)
When selecting a mission on the overworld map:
Accept
Prepare
Cancel

Prepare menu:
Equip
Check status
Switch characters
Status menu:
Left column: Attack, defense, SP recovery
Right column: Speed, accuracy, evasion
Top right: Damage resistances (?)
Bottom right: Status resistances (?)
Teleport crystals in base:
Mission planning
Equipment craftsman
Item salesman
Records PC
Equipment craftsman (base right - beware that this inventory probably changes for the full version):
For each character:
__Weapons (note the prices: Higher cost is more powerful, same cost is different type (standard / fast / accurate / strong / ..., different characters have different types available))
__Skills
Status-inflicting skills
Armor(?)
Upgrades
Cut-In effects
Sell menu
Equip menu
Item salesman (base left - again, will probably change in the full version):
Check/use ability (not consumed on use, lets you open the ability menu in the field - not sure what this is good for?)
healing potions, 3 strengths (always target self in battle)
healing spray, 3 strengths (can target allies, slightly more expensive)
energy restore potion
Resurrection serum
Status cures, 3 variants
Status infliction, 5 variants
Records PC (base bottom)
CG gallery
Enemy gallery (?)
Achievements
Status gallery (?)
Event gallery
Lewd records

Dev's said on his blog that he's submitted the full game to dlsite and it should be out in a few days. Interestingly, the dlsite release date's changed to 30th Jan, so either it's getting through the review process quickly or someone's being optimistic.
