Hey there Copper, just kind of bored, figured we'd continue our conversation from before. Anything new?

Not quite Siphon, We're still in the labs, but we're following this Dmitri fellow, Burrito is off somewhere else getting fixed I think. Grave is with him, and I think they are still in the labs, just elsewhere. Why, what's up? You feel disturbed.

My attempt to find a bypass worked, but I think I may have triggered something not so good. I sort of recreated a smaller version of the core we found, and it just now lit up like a god damn Christmas tree. There's another hive, and it's VERY close to us. Let Burrito know I'm on my way over to the labs with the thing, I want someone else looking at this thing too.

Finding anyone's consciousness in this small flood of scientists and researchers was difficult, but she eventually zeroed in on Burrito and Grave, still together in one corner of the research wing. She heads on over in a bit of a hurry, finding them in a few minutes.

"Hey, Siphon thinks thers another hive ship nearby, he's built a miniature core and it seems to be reacting with it. He's on his way here with it now, wants some of the other researchers to look at it as well."

New clothes, she replies. Hopefully these ones won't get more holes in them than the designer intended. Other than that, just hunting down some necessities. How's things with you? Getting to see much or still stuck in the newbie rigamaroll?

Shrike laughs both out loud and mentally before she answers.

Rigamaroll is the perfect word for it. Sounds like it won't last though, Siphon thinks there's another Hive nearby, methinks we might be back on the defensive sooner than I'd like. I took a nap on the chopper, but I'd rather see a bed than more fighting about now.

(Uh... Shrike I believe that I've stated I've been following Dmitri, not Burrito.)

Grave saw that Shrike separated herself from the group and followed her. He was close enough to hear what she said to Burrito. Sigh... Damn, and I hoped for some rest... Anyway, it seems that I won't be bored during my stay here.

"The repairs will have to wait, Silvers." Burrito says, standing as he hears what Shrike says "It's alright. go ahead and do what you can." the old man says, looking over at Burrito's still exposed arm "Aren't you going to cover that up?" he asks, smiling and scratching his chin "I'll be fine. I can survive anything they throw at us and throw it back three fold." the cyborg says with a smile on his face "Shrike. Head bck and find Dimitri, tell him that there's something interesting happening. He's going to have to postpone the tour."

Siphon raced from his own lab to the main ones, hardly bothering to slow down to even turn the corners. He truly had no idea what kind of link he had established, but if it could help them in any way then they couldn't risk losing it. Soon he had made it to the main labs, and waited for the others to arrive there.

At the labs now and waiting on some help. God, this seriously can't be happening, why why why?

Burrito comes rushing through the labs, a fairly large stride with each step, yet not a run. "Siphon. Please tell me this isn't another one of those times where your invention dooms us all." he says, a stern look on his face as he eyes the device "Doesn't look like it can cause much damage. What's this I hear about a hive being nearby, though?"

Siphon nods once then replies, "a core like this doesn't utilize it's own power supply like ours can. It draws it from an active sensory connection to that hive we blew up. I was able to determine that before I blew it sky high. So for this thing to have gone active, it has an active connection to one. I've since determined that it only has a range of fifty miles. Which means that if this thing has gone active now, there is a fully functional hive within fifty miles of this base. I can TRY to interface with their systems using it, but the catch is if they pick up on it, they can easily trace us back here. Right now they can't though, yet."

"I will go and speak with the president concerning this matter. IF you risk it and we aren't properly prepared, it could mean the end of our group. Still, keep a close watch on it. By the time the hive even starts detecting us, we'll be able to see a fly moving within 20 miles of this base." Burrito says, smiling as he looks over the device with a quick glance "I shall return. Inform the others where I am." he says, walking out of the lab in a hurry and towards the president's chambers

"Understood."

He reaches out with his mind to everyone from their group. Folks, we may have a situation. There is a Hive somewhere within fifty miles of our current position, and I have a core that might be capable of interfacing. Burrito is talking to the president now to advise him.

That done, he slowly sagged back against the wall, having not expected how draining it would be to link with multiple non telepathic minds over long distances. While it was true if thoughts were directly aimed AT him that he could pick up on them, they did have a range. It was also true that communicating with one who was not normally telepathic could be draining, much less multiple targets. If anyone walked in now, they would take note immediately that he was sagged against the wall, a bit out of it but still alert enough to monitor the core.

Shrike twitched a little as she was asked to play messenger straight back to where she had just came from, but said nothing as Burrito rushed by her. She was about halfway back to Dmitri and the rest of the group when Siphon did her job for her. Shrugging, she just found a chair and waited, scanning the blackboards around her to keep herself busy.

After he had a minute to recover, Siphon gently reached out to Shrike. If your not busy, mind joining me here? Could use another set of eyes given... the situation.

While he didn't elaborate any further, it might be obvious that for whatever reason, he certainly seemed less than on top of his game right now, and she might suspect he had over stretched his telepathy some.

Yeah, sure, be there in five. She said, keeping it short as she sensed his weariness. True to her word, almost exactly five minutes later she finds him, still slumped against the wall, watching the core. "Hey, you alright?"

There is a moments pause before he replies, "yeah, I'm alright. Kind of over extended my abilities there with that broadcast is all. Reaching out over a certain distance with non-telepaths is taxing, it's a large reason that until I met you, I didn't bother utilizing them. Now I'm using it more frequently, and I'm not used to it."

"Fair enough." She says simply, before pointing at the active core. "I take it that's what you want help with? What do you need me to do?"

"Basically right now we're baby sitting the thing. I'm slightly out of it and if I have to step back to regenerate some, I need someone to snap me out of it if the thing suddenly changes color or something. As your aware, I can feed off electricity, but I'd rather not turn my back on it and have it do something it shouldn't and miss it."

There is a chuckle as he says, "I actually don't sleep, at least not like humans do. When I do 'sleep', it is impossible to wake me until my body is fully back on track. Hence the reason I feed on electrical energies wherever possible and rarely sleep. I promise you though, when there is time I will get some. In the mean time, I guess I should probably stick my finger into a light socket."

There is a smile on his face as he says this, probably knowing how rediculous it sounds.
