You get the hammer from the ship captain who appears at the docks. I don't remember the exact times but I think it's midday. Just hang around the docks until he shows up. I can't help you with specific cats as its been way too long since I actually played this game.

i have a question about where this h-book is located. in the walkthrough it says:

・Behind the house on the coast, which lies under the cove that in front of the shop

But i couldn't find what they meant. Also, i have a feeling the game broke after 8/30 as i'm able to play like normal but the afternoon scenes don't work anymore.

Look back at page 6. Post #120. Hoshi updated the patch to work with the latest version, which is 2.0. Unfortunately, that file was removed, so I had to upload it (hopefully that doesn't get removed). I know it's tedious, but try to look through past posts for the answer before asking the question.
