Following Isa, Duke took a seat next to Song, his reason behind that decision being that he had a small suspicion that the woman didn't like him, and he didn't like the idea of being without the good graces of the medic, of all people.

"Say... where did the one with the brown hair go?" Duke asked the innocent looking mechanic, and the doctor sitting next to her, who apparently was giving the little woman 'the look' Duke knew all too well about. Good lord... Two of 'em... Duke resisted the urge to openly show his dismay, instead choosing to wear a fake smile to hide his thoughts to the others, "Well, this is depressing. I suppose There's little chance for me to have a lady friend among the crew... Unless I'm successful at bewitching..." he trailed of in mid-thought, giving a quick glance at Isa.

Kunrou looked over at him and gave a sheepish laugh, "I don't know, I was checking your back when she moved on." Then her gaze sharpened, "You are alright aren't you? You didn't try to hide anything to be manly?" She snorted, "Buddha knows you men like to hide things. The last man I dated was a mechanic and wouldn't tell me he was hurt until I found the hurts myself." she trailed off, and smiled at Lyn again, her gaze softening. "If I make it onto this crew Captain," she addressed Isa, "I want to have a policy where everyone is one hundred percent honest as soon as they enter my medical bay."

Duke let out a small laugh, already catching onto what the good doctor's niche was. "So, you have a thing for mechanics... Very interesting." he noted, "And on that note, I'd much prefer that honesty is not a prerequisite to passage on your ship... We all have our little secrets..." he chuckled at Isa, giving her a smile. Then, he leaned back in his chair a little, relaxing as he regarded Song's comment on his manliness, "And beleive me, good doctor, it takes more than three brainless thugs to even scratch a true hero." he stated proudly.

Kunrou smirked at him, letting him know he'd caught onto her, "I mean honest insofar as medical history, and current problems. I won't let anyone's pride get in the way of treatment."

Isa leaned back in her chair and waved the waitress over to place an order. While Isa waited she said to the Doctor, “so far as I’m concerned, if you’re on my ship, then you have full authority inside your medical bay.”

When the waitress arrived, Isa placed an order for a light meal of fish and chips. “Anybody else want something to eat?” She asked of the table.

Kunrou grinned, "Thanks Captain." Then she nodded, staring up at the waitress, "I'd like small plate of fish."

"I would just like some rice, please. Charge the table to me, as well." said a voice to the waitress. A moderately tall man, in a tan overcoat and glasses, and carrying several bags, stood above the table. "That is, of course, if the good Captain will permit me to dine at her table."

Jean sighs and continues to sit at her table waiting for her client "If this client is a no show I don't have enough money to get home." She mutters alittle depressed. If one were to look at her they could tell she was feeling a bit lonely.

When the waitress turned to Duke for his order, giving him a knowing smile, which he gave back to her, she said, "Sorry ah couldn't say hey to ya earlier, hun," she told Duke, "Been busy'n such."

Duke laughed a little, "That's quite alright, Cindy. It's just good to know you're settling into a job alright." he said with a pleased nod. "Oh-" he began, remembering that she didn't only want to look at the handsome man, she wanted his order as well, "I won't be having anything, there might be more thugs like the ones before, and I don't need any extra weight in my stomach."

With another chuckle as Cindy moved on to the innocent looking mech wiz, Duke looked around the barroom, before his eyes fixed on the woman from before. He blinked in confusion, "Wasn't she to be apart of the crew?" he wondered. Then, he looked around the table he was at for a minute, before saying, "I'll be a moment," and getting up from his chair. He walked over to Jean, wondering what the situation was with her, having been at the table, seemingly to join the crew, and now alone.

Duke placed a hand gently on her shoulder, so that he'd catch her attention, and when she looked up at him, she'd see him smiling down at her, "Weren't you joining our crew?" he asked her, "Or did our... Masculine captain scare you off?" he chuckled.

Jean jumps slightly when his hand touches her shoulder. She turns around and slowly relaxes as she sees it is the womanizer that she was laughing at before. "Don't scare me like that. You're liable to end up on your back dead due to my reflexes." She says quietly. Then as he asks his question she smiles and laughs "Oh no I wasn't joining the crew to begin with. I'm a bodyguard for hire and I'm supposed to be meeting a client in this bar. The client is a few hours late though." She finishes with a sigh and a shrug. Duke could see that Jean was checking him out and has a light blush on her cheeks from her efforts. She was trying to hide her slight attraction to him but is failing miserably.

Duke chuckled, a grin appearing on his face at the golden opportunity he suddenly saw before him, "Bingo, Baby! I knew Lady Luck was still in love with me!" he thought happily. "Well, I've got good news for you!" he announced, giving her the most sly, five star smile he could muster, "I'm your employer! And I want you to be my loyal bodyguard!" then, he offered his hand to her, so that she might take hold of it as she gets out of her seat, "What do you say, sweetheart?"

She smiles due to his infectious grin and says "You do? Oh do tell..." Then as he continues she gasps and says "You're the man I'm supposed to meet? I thought merchants were supposed to be fat and obnoxious." She looks at his hand and doesn't shake it just yet. "Don't call me sweetheart just yet. We still have to talk terms yet." She says all business. Her entire demeaner changing and she no longer seems to be distracted by his looks except for the tiny tinge of pink in her cheeks.

Although he maintains his alluring smile, Duke grimaces mentally, "Merchant? Eugh... That won't do." he noted within the silence of his mind. Then, he gave a nod to her, "You're too right. And, uh..." he trails off for a moment, raising a finger in disagreement with his label, "I'm not quite a merchant, not exactly. You see, a lot of the time, I transport things the people in the core would flay me for transporting, so I'm sure they simply mistook me for a common black market merchant." he explained, before standing proudly in front of her, as if he was posing for a photo shoot, "What I really am known as, is a hero to the people! And even a hero needs rest, and that's where you come in, my loyal bodyguard! To watch my back when I need it most if things go bad!" he told her, directing his attention at her as if welcoming her to be the star of a game show.

Then, he clasped his hands together, "Which brings us to the main reason you're here... Your payment. For being a loyal bodyguard, what say half of whatever I earn during my time aboard the ship's crew?" he offered, being much more than a majority of her clients ever offered.

Kunrou saw what he was doing and shook her head with a rueful smile, before turning back to Lyn. "So, where are you from?"

She listens to his little speech and laughs when he declares himself a hero. She smiles happily when he tells her what the pay is and says "Ok Mr. Hero I may just take you up on that offer although I am inclined to believe you aren't the client I was innitially going to meet but I think he is a Feh Feh Pi Goh for keeping me waiting like this. Are there any other perks? How's the dental plan?" grinning as she asks those questions half serious half teasing.

(Blatant Zelda reference was blatant)

Duke blinks at the woman, a little confused at her question, "Dental plan? Um... I'm fairly certain that the pay will cover any dental bills as well, I'm not exactly a legal business." he chuckled a little, then gave her a sly smile, "However, there is a perk to speak of; you get to travel in the company of yours truly!" he announced, pointing his thumb at himself.

Then, he held out his hand again, not for a handshake, as Jean had assumed a moment ago, but to once again, be a gentleman, and help her from her seat. "By the way... I don't think I caught your name..."

Isa had been devouring her fish and chips with gusto during the exchange between Duke’s and the bodyguard’s conversation. She finished and pushed away her plate and said-- after remembering to chew and swallow her food first-- “If he wants’ to offer half his share for you to protect his man-candy ass, that’s up to him. But I might have a better deal for you. How about an equal share to what Duke is getting, in exchange for helping to protect everyone who sings on with the Rhapsody?”

“By the way,” Isa adds, “Dose this merchant of yours have a name? Or some kind of description? Maybe I know who stood you up.”

Duke cringes at Isa's nickname for him, and turned to her with a fury, "Who do you think you're calling man-candy!" he growled at her, his face flushing from what he assumed that meant, as well as growling on the inside as well, "And who do you think you're cock-blocking, for that matter!" he thought angrily.

That's when Cindy, the waitress, came walking by him, giving him a wink, "That's cus you're as sweet as candah, sugar!" she said, before giving his bottom a pinch as she walked past him, which made him flush even more.

Jean giggles at the byplay "Well if I can get a full share for myself and half of his share then I will sing any tune you want me to. Just don't expect me to sing well." With a smile she takes Dukes hand and allows herself to be helped up with a tinge of pink on her cheeks. It had been a long time since she was treated this way. "His name was Gentry and he's supposed to be a big time merchant. I've never met the man so I don't have a description but I've heard he is very fat and very obnoxious. However the pay was ten times what I normally make and I can deal with an attitude for that kind of money."
