Continuing on her way after dealing with the cat, Maria reaches the edge of town after an uneventful half hour of traveling down the road, which evens out shortly after she reaches the place where the shortcut through the forest would have let out. The houses nearby are all fairly large, blocking her view of the rest of the town. She can tell that they're upper class, likely traders of some sort.

Maria looks around as she enters the town, deciding that the first thing to do that made sense was to search the houses, taking her gun out as she slowly prods around, wanting to be very careful not to get caught unaware. She decided that since she was most likely going to live here, she probably needed a house to stay in, and a nice house would be... well, nice.

There were plenty of houses to choose from, a dozen in easy sight on this street alone, and Maria could easily turn down one of the side streets and look there. She didn't spot anything moving in the area, nor did she hear anything.

Maria lets out a soft sigh and heads for the first house to the right, pausing as she looks around, trying to remember where the light had come from that she had seen earlier. Shaking her and deciding that she would be better off finding a place to rest... and maybe even get what of whatever was inside her body, would be more important than finding out the source of the light. She heads into the house, hoping that there would be nothing inside.

Maria spots something moving around inside of the house just as she is about to go inside, and pauses at the door. She wasn't sure what it was, but it had moved into one of the houses rooms before she could get a good look at it.

Maria watches the shadow for a moment, letting out a short gasp as she holds her gun out, trying to slowly open the door as she frowns, she hopes that it was just a survivor, but seeing what she had seen on the way there, she seriously doubted it. She hopes whatever was inside did not notice or hear her open the door..

Slowly pushing the door open a crack, Maria hears a scratching sound from one of the houses other rooms, coming from off to her right. The entrance hall is empty, the wooden floors and walls covered in scratches. Whatever was in the house had likely caused the scratches, but Maria couldn't be sure exactly where the sound was coming from unless she went into the house and looked.

Maria quickly moves into the house, heading straight for the room trying to be as quiet as she could, preparing to kill whatever it was if it was another animal. Taking in a few shallow breaths, she quickly moves in.

Maria slowly creeps into the house, hearing more clicking and scratching sounds from her right. The sounds seem to originate from a small wooden door on the left side of the hallway.

Maria takes a running start then launches a foot into the door, hoping to smash it into whatever was behind it, giving up on the element of stealth for now...

The door meets a brief resistance as she kicks it in, causing Maria to fall to the floor. She regains her feet in time to see the abomination that was standing on the other side, a six legged, insect-like creature with tentacles sprouting from its back, as it regains its composure.

Maria looks at the bug for awhile as she shivers, she never liked bugs in the first place, but seeing this... she knew it was yet another mutation, most likely, as she was pretty sure bugs did not grow that big. Quickly scrambling to get up, she runs forward to try to smash the bug's face into the ground, hoping to at least somewhat scare it off.

Damage: 8 + 2 + 23 = 33 damage.

Marias fist crushes the strange monsters head like... Well, like a bug. Its tentacles give one last surge as its body collapses to the ground.

Maria tries to pull the bug apart, wanting to see if there was another one of those strange stones in it's body. She also looks up and around, seeing if there was some reason that the bug was poking around in this house.

All she found in tearing the bug apart were a series of organic sack connecting to some of its tentacles. All of them were full of something syrupy and white, and it didn't take Maria long to figure out exactly what they were.

The room she had found the bug in was a pantry, filled with stale bread and jars of honey and jam, along with other foodstuffs. Her only guess was that the creature had been looking for food.

Maria looks curiously at the bug and blushes as she realizes what she had just uncovered. She first takes some of the bread and honey, packing it into her bag, then she slowly attempts to remove one of the sacs, it would either make an interesting weapon, or in the case that she got really hungry, a very random snack.

After grabbing some still good looking bread and honey, Maria goes to work at the creatures corpse. The sacks don't seem designed for easy removal, and every one that Maria tries to carefully pull free bursts, covering her hands in the dead things cum.

Maria sighs and looks around, deciding that maybe she should stockpile some more food, plus it seemed to still be a early, and on top of that, she decided that she would clear out a few more houses, just in case. She heads for the door, planning on going to the house across the street, also planning on looking around when she got back outside to see if there was anything of interest.

The area outside was just as she had left it. The house across the street was only one story, and was actually a shop rather than a home. The glass windows were intact, though the door was lying against the side of the house.

Maria quickly heads to the next house, watching the street a few times as she hurries across, a little worried at the lack of the door, but at least the windows were still intact... she wasn't sure what that indicated though and decided to keep her guard up.
