Finding the bark completely smooth, Maria is forced to contend herself with smashing her fist against the things bark. As she does, the rest of the vines fall limp, and a faint red glow appears from within the tree. Before her eyes, the trees bark starts peeling off and falling to the ground around her, already starting to rot.

Maria backs away a little as she sees the red glow, then looking around carefully, she goes to retrieve her gun and starts to push away the rot, hoping to uncover whatever the hell the red glowing thing was.

Most of the tree is rotted away before she even returns from picking up her rifle, and she only has to tear away a few chunks of soft, rotted wood to reach the glowing red core. It is a stone about the size of her head, glowing crimson and emanating a feeling of evil even though she has yet to touch it.

Maria slowly reaches for the stone, she didn't know what it was, but she didn't want to just leave this thing around, just in case that it was the cause of the transformation of the tree. She also looks around to see if her cloak had at least survived, it was getting rather chilly walking around naked...

As she pulls the stone from the tree, she can feel an alien, evil, intelligence within it, as though what was left of the tree was within it. Her cloak was salvageable, along with her pack containing her equipment.

Putting the stone into her pack, Maria wraps herself in her cloak as she looks around, then decides to continue heading towards the town, hoping to not run into any more trouble.

Heading back down the path, Maria quickly reaches the road again, and sees that she is now much closer to the town. There is another such path through the forest, but after her encounter with the tree she wasn't sure if she wanted to risk it.

Maria decides stay on the road for now, looking around carefully for any more dangers as she walks, wrapping her cloak a little tighter around herself, shaking her head, starting to feel a little regret for what had happened in the woods.

Maria is disturbed from her thoughts of the encounter in the woods as she hears a twig snap to her left, and turns to see a massive mountain cat stalking toward her.

Maria turns around and looks at the cat, holding onto her cloak tightly as she looked at the creature. She stands there, waiting defensively for the cat to make the first move, getting ready to sock the creature in the face if it decided to charge at her, "Even if it isn't affected... it'll still probably want to kill me..."

Grapple: 7 + 28 = 35 vs 34 = Success.

Maria is surprised at how quickly and suddenly the cat lunges for her, burying her under its weight. She feels its member brush against her nether lips, drawing an unconscious shiver from her, reminding her of the tree. Still, she snaps a fist up into the beasts face.

Grapple: 16 + 54 + 3 = 73 vs 19 + 28 = 47 == Maria wins.
Damage: 1 + 2 + 23 = 26 damage.

Her fist snaps into the creatures head, snapping its head back and drawing an angry growl from the beast.

Looking up at the cat, Maria shivers as she feels the member brushing against her leg, reminding her of the encounter in the forest, as well as letting her know that most likely this creature was also affected by whatever had affected the horse, and the oak, which brought up something interesting, something she would have to investigate, but later, first to fight off the cat.

She once again pulls her head back again and swings forward at the cat, hoping to bash her forehead against the cat's jaw, hoping it would be enough to daze the cat at least.

Snapping her head forward, Maria head bashes the cat, causing it to go limp on top of her. The beast is more likely unconscious than dead.

Maria tries to roll over so that the beast was below her, as she looks at it, she tries to ignore the thoughts and ideas that were still fresh on her mind, and of course, the confusion that occurred within her with the large amount of energy transfer during her last battle.

Taking one quick look around, she begins to try to rape the creature back, hoping to drain back what energy she had thought she had lost, as well as trying to satisfy some of the craving that she had.

It takes her a while, but eventually Maria manages to dig through enough of the cats flesh to reach a small glowing red stone, similar to the one she'd taken from the tree but much smaller, and without the sense of intelligence.
