Out of curiosity - how many pokemon are there by now? I stopped when there were 250.

With Pokemon B/W it brings the current total to 649. And I intend on getting every single last one on White.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Well if we're doing that then we'll have to add the four billion+ pattern variations for Spinda, that's not including the shiny version of each variation. Then there's the 28 different Unown, Deoxys' formes, Castform's weather forms, Rotom's machine possession forms, Giratina's Altered and Origin formes, Shaymins normal and Sky formes, the two variations of Basculin and Shellos/Gastrodon, Darmanitan's Zen form, Meloetta's Aria and Pirouette forms and whatever else I missed.

So yeah, I think it's best just to stick to the main 649.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Okay, I've played five hours of Dragon Age II straight. Time to stop and share some thoughts.

Obviously I was wrong thinking that the prologue would be the only time you'd see Darkspawn.
Annoyed that the dog is a "skill" and not a team member. Annoyed that you can't change the armor of your teammates. Intrigued that each team member now appears to have several missions that, with success, upgrade their armor.
Favourite team member is, once more, the dwarf. Your sister is okay, and emo elf is EEEEEMO. Haven't met Anders yet, I imagine he'll replace Bethany real quick.

And yet, they still haven't released one that's better than Mewtwo......

Statistically, design-wise or story-wise? Because they've topped him in the first two and there's an ancient Pokemon in the newest games that was genetically messed up by Team Plasma.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Soo..... Dragon Age 2. Yes.

I have to say, i was really worried about Anders and how this whole... Justice thing was going to play out. Especially with the romance option. Because when you're an "abomination" things tend to take a backseat.

The whole Justice thing wasn't as... overwhelming as i thought it would be, and I'm quite happy with the way things have turned out. Anders telling my Magey boy that he'd drown the city in blood to keep my Sebastian Hawke safe is just a perk.

He's still the master of snark, and I love him to pieces. The fact that your opening quest to get him is saving his lover from the Templar just makes me wibble a lot, so I'll leave it here.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Well, about time for me to sign in with the whole Dragon Age 2 thing. I don't think there's anything spoilerific here, so only spoiled for length. So far, I'm really enjoying it. I'm falling into my old trap of "Oh, I'll just finish one more quest." Could be why I started playing it at 5 in the morning the first day and didn't wind up going to bed until 1:30 in the afternoon (and work gave me THREE days off after the release. Fools!)

Got my strat guide today and I wasn't going to open it up until after my first playthrough, but dammit if I could *not* find the damn tome that I know I saw for sale, so I popped it open to find that and was flipping through. I've since set it aside and will be going back to that in more detail later.

I love the cameos I've seen so far and I *love* the interaction. I also love the symbol wheel in the middle there. Granted, most of the time it stays on 'nice' or 'snark' but occassionally I'll go heavy handed. I also like that it's not rigid in the whole "Lawful good, smartass, Evil" set. Granted, yeah, it can seem like that, but it feels a little more hazy in the "alignment" of the conversations.

And I *like* the conversations. I finished Fenris' quest and had my conversation with him and it actually felt like a *conversation* No more static dialogue trees, no more static people. He paces when he talks, Hawke sits down, it's a nice touch of realism in my fantasy. I haven't found a companion I don't like yet and I'm digging most of the rest of the game, though I really need to get the hang of 'Evade.'

And Rule, I can agree with you on the point with the dog, but at the same time, having him as a summon (essentially) frees up a party slot. One of the guys I work with and I were talking about him in DA:O and it was "I'd take that dog with me all the time if I could. I wish there was a separate slot just for him."

Having to put it on hold for the time being (I have dance lessons tonight, hehehe!) but likely will be jumping back into Thedas as soon as I get home!

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Wow... one sentence preventing someone from playing.

I'm... kinda happy I'm mostly a 360 gamer more and more. I have a friend of mine who refuses to get into PC games these days because he can't get any decent internet connection out where he lives, and he doesn't want to fuck around with all these activations. On 360 he can just pop a disk in and play.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Well, I just beat Dragon Age 2 :p

Ending was kind of a let-down, I really think it could have used one final chapter. That said, it was a hell of a ride to get there. Probably starting a second playthrough tomorrow!

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I am sure that if that person get a lawyer to sue EA, they will win. You can't take a product off someone just because they said something that you don't like.

That said, I am never posting on the Bioware forum again. I got banned from the Steam forum twice (first for arguing that hacking in private servers should be completely fine, and second for posting a link to a website with a no intro hack, which unfortunately also contain a no-CD hack), and I still have complete access to my Steam account. So fuck you, bioware community.

Also this bullshit really makes me want to go back to pirating games. It's supposed to be easier to buy real copies of game than pirating games, not the other way around. The entire gaming industry is just fucked up. (The movie industry is equally fucked up as well. Regional restriction? What the hell?) Seems like the only industry that sort of got it right is the music industry - just pop into a shop and buy a CD. Though it probably won't be long before they start using internet activation as well.
