Re: Games Discussion Thread

Also, I wish their were more world of darkness PCRPGs, unfortunately Vampire is the only one that is reasonably feasable. 5 forms for a were-wolf? not happening, hunter would just be a re-hash of any monster hunting game, and mage would translate horribly (alot of the fun is making your own spells, def not going to happen).
Actually, back in the day (when Redemption first came out) they actually did have a Werewolf game in the works, too. Friend of mine that I LARPed with was actually part of the team working on it. Unfortunately, the thing never saw the light of day, but I remember reading an article about it in one of the computer gaming mags. This, though, was back in, like, the late 90's, so alas, no Apocalypse for us.

And they are, apparently, making a VtM MMO, or so I've heard. I think the trailer for it might even be in the thread somewhere. But, since I was already on youtube, thanks to Sin...

Re: Games Discussion Thread

wooohoooo everyone line up and buy whatever the corporate giants tell us!

Also, got BF 3 for the 360 (irony no?). 2 problems I find horrible once you're actually able to get online. First is the prone ability, you can use it to hiade over half your body inside of walls (yay for realistic combat! owait...) as well as using it to lay inside of things so you can't be shot AT ALL, while you lay waste to anything infront of you. I can suck it up on this one, not a huge deal, but once people really start abusing this, it's going to be annoying as all hell.

Second is that FUUUUUUUUUUUU the controls for the chopper are waaaay too goddamn sensitive. Specifically tilt, if you're even a mm off of exact center with your joystick (and while moving back/forward this is very hard to avoid for me) the goddamn thing will try to barrel-roll on you. Makes me look I don't know how to fly the damned thing, but I do.

Lastly, anti-air bazooka's are fucking win. After being raped by chopper pilots to which their was no repraisal for so long in bad company, a single player can now defend themselves against this (because why would your team do anything but run out and die?).

I haven't looked into it much. I just knew they were coming out with it. If it says MMO, I basically don't pay much attention to it. There's very few I bother with and none of them are mainstream.

Also, I'm not quite sure were Bloodlines fits into OWoD, since this is going to be set before all the Requiem/4th Edition stuff. Have yet to get through Bloodlines myself. Didn't have a comp that would run it at the time and at this point, I'm just being lazy about it *laughs*

ie. Tales of Vesperia (JP) on the PS3 has additional characters and around 30% more content than the non-Japan version.

Tales of the world 2 and 3. As in radiant mythology series. They were NEVER released in the U.S. and had tons of improvements.

I take it you're an importer? Are they really that much superior than the first one? (Radiant Mythology Series)

It figures 2 and 3 wern't released outside japan.. To many games that could be something to remember fondly years from now get stopped before they get a chance. The first game was pretty bland and basic for its type, but from what I saw while looking up the tales series on Wikipedia, the third had almost all the Tales game characters in it both good and evil.
Its days like this that make me want to learn japanese so I can't miss out on these games.

in truth, they slowly improved each time. 1 was incredibly weak. 2 introduced a shit ton of new characters and moves, rebalanced the gameplay so tales characters level from level 1, and had more backstory from the characters. The main plot was still meh for 2. For 3, they not only fixed all the leveling complaints for characters, not only added a shit ton to nearly almost every single tales character period, but added shit tons of dialogue, double the artes, they really overhauled the fuck out of the third one. So if you want to import, get the third. Its pretty fucking awesome If i do say so, especially if you love the Tales series, its a HUGE fan service.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Has anyone here recently tryed the new Dragonball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi game? and if so how did you find the games new battle style.

Personally from my own plays of it the fighting controls in it are by far the worst they could have possibly made :( They basically took both the Raging Blast and Burst limit controls and made made a freak of nature that even Frankinstien's monster would run screaming from. Basically you have melee range (Burst Limits style and just about every fighting game ever mades style) and long range (Raging Blasts free roaming style) but heres the catch you can't just freely move between them but rather have to double tap a button to preform a low damage rock paper scissors move to switch.

All in all the game feels unnessasarily clunky, sadly this game finally brought in a make your own fighter option only to fail. I can't comment on how the rest of the game plays because the lousy controls kill the urge to play further than the tutorial. Some may find a saving grace I missed for the game but even a free dvd of the first 6 Dragonball Kai episodes couldent make me like the game but i would like to know what others thought of it, maybe in the future when it gets cheaper I might retry it but for now its not worth the full price.

Thanks for putting up with the long gamers rant :D

..you basically said every damn thing i could have about the game. I was super excited about the customised saiyen, but it only bombed in customization aspects sadly...personally, nothing has defeated Dragonball Z budaki 3 for me.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

It's sad really how many games never get release outside of japan. Specifically gundam games, admittadely they do look quite awfull (WTF JAPAN? You INVENTED mecha, make a good game for god's sake), still I want them sooooo bad. Especially the arcade one that has the controlls set up like the mobile suit's cockpit.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one XD though for me Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was the peak of the series, a ton of characters ranging from Dragonball to Dragonball GT, a more free roam fighting style that felt more like it should be
for the dragonball series that gives the game fluid and fast paced action.

I still hope they make a Raging Blast 3 which is basically Budokai Tenkaichi series for the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles, And heres hoping they make Burst Limit 3 for you too with luck it might beat out Budokai 3 as the top one for you :) Though I think they still need to make the second one since I havent seen it around yet.

If that was a long rant, I'd wonder what you consider short. Or going off on a real tear, heh.

I don't often do so, but, well, this. Or at least the first sentence. (Not a huge gundam fan, m'self.) You'd think that with the increased interest in Japanese culture that seems to be invading over here in the US (and other countries, I'm sure), you'd think they'd maybe at least take *some* chance on marketing things to a Western audience. "Oh, we're not going to release that game. It's a dating sim." Helloooo, how many people play "The Sims" and all the simulation games where they're pretending to control the lives of other people? "It's more of an interactive novel than a game." GOOD! Maybe it'll teach people how to read. And seriously, nine times out of ten, my reason for usually liking a game is *gasp* THE STORY. "It's got taboo subjects in it." Have you seen what we're putting on television these days? Taboo? WTF is that?

Now, I'm sure there's plenty of counterarguments here, but I'm just going off on a general geek rant that stems mostly from wanting the SuikoGaden games since finding out they existed. And I know some of the gaming systems are starting to have imports (PS3 has it's own section in the shop) which is nice, but there's so much more out there that, while, alas, I can't afford, would be nice to see hit other markets. For now, just going to poke around and sigh whistfully whenever I see screencaps for something that will never see the light of day over here.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Oh lord. I think that's the one we had at Media Play that came in a box that was big enough to climb in because it came with a controller that was shaped like a mecha console.

Come to think if it, I don't think we ever sold the thing, at least not until it got toward the store closing down. We might've sold one before that. Either that, or it was one of those instances where we actually had someone coming in looking for it and when I went to get it, it was "It got sold? Really? Really?"
