Games Discussion Thread

Re: Games Discussion Thread

An inkwell... really?

I want it.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

That's why I pre-ordered it. Then I showed it to my friend and she's like "oooh Tarot." So...yeah. Swag n shit.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

You can acquire Symphony from for almost nothing.

I highly recommend it.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

If you haven't heard of Huniepop, you need to watch this 1 minute video of it.

Preorder that shit. Preorder that shit HARD. I know I did.

Watch Dogs: It's a whole lot of fun, but it's certainly nowhere near a 'next gen' game

It's pretty fun, but never trust marketing

The game was awful. I don't know how companies spend millions on these crappy made games. I think the industry needs to crash in order to correct itself because spending millions on these games doesn't seem justified neither is the pricing on them.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

sales statistics say you're wrong.

Gamers are killing games cos we say we want fun original games but every copy of portal 1 and 2 ever sold is dwarfed by this years madden. let alone the latest battle field or cod.

I dunno if anyone here has heard of TheBestGamers on Youtube, but they do satirical reviews that touch on this kind of thing. My favorite review was of Fez where the reviewer (an SA goon) does commentary over the original review video, talking about how gaming has kind of split into mass markets of 16-bit graphic indie games and brown, desert shooters for AAA titles. It's probably something a lot of people have noticed, but it's elaborated upon well.

Here's the video I'm talking about in case you want to check it out.

As for Watch_Dogs... I think it's an example of how gaming has failed to evolve with the latest generation. It's the same old stuff, just done fancier and prettier. There hasn't been a Mario 64, a Zelda OoT, a Halo, or an FF7 yet. Nothing that changes up what's been done before. I know it's early in the generation cycle, but I don't have a lot of excitement for upcoming games.

I can't remember the last time I spent more then $40 for a game. I guess I don't really care these days to keep up with the latest games and mostly just buy within a certain buying criteria I've set up for myself. It's saved me tons of money when following it and it has also given me the most satisfaction for what I've spent it when buying such games.

This is basically the issue
For some reason people do that, a new madden every year, a new cowadoody every year, and a new smartphone every year, buying all the consoles and then playing on them once or twice before never looking at them again

Pre-ordering every title they are a bit hyped about including ones made by companies who are known for failing hard, and buying the on disk day 1 DLC while they're at it

And then the rest of us are wondering where they keep coming from and how there are so many of them

Alienware's doing a key giveaway for Orcs Must Die! Unleashed if people are interested

Re: Games Discussion Thread

So does anyone have any comments about the designs of the new Mega Pokemon?

Jesus, look at Mega Swampert. He looks as though he's been injecting elephant steroids into himself for years. He'd give Senator Armstrong a run for his money.

"Don't fuck with THIS Swampert!"

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Someone got lost on the way to digimon. Those back legs seem totally impractical

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I'm loving the new designs, and if is legit then we're in for a whole host of new mega evolutions. I'm especially looking forward to mega Ludicolo and Sharpedo. Disappointed that it looks like there'll be no mega Mightyena or Breloom, those two are my favourite gen 3 Pokemon.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

For the people who bought Watchdogs(Or otherwise found it in their possession)

Note the 'game media' is bullshitting. This is not a mod, the actual high end graphics stuff that improves performance and looks at the same time is all in the game already
All you need to do is tell the game to actually use it

So fix up your game and make it actually look the way it looked at E3 if you want to, it's just a few lines of settings to copypaste

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Sooo... how about a 15-minute short made by Valve for another TF2 update?

Do you know what time it is?
It's time for..

STEAM SALES!

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Already considering getting the Witcher games for stupid cheap. Also, Gog's sale is going on right now, too. And I just picked up the Leisure Suit Larry collection. I love how if you ditch "Magna Cum Laude" (the supposedly crappy not quite associated with the main canon game), it actually costs you *more*.

Worth it
Remember to check around for the hidden deals too. Some games have a discount, but they're not on the front page. You might find a lot of fun things

A few hidden ones I can recommend:
Waking Mars

A fun little game with puzzle elements, but mostly adventure and exploration

Eador

Very detailed game that plays much like heroes of might and magic, with over 100 hours of gameplay in it at the minimum. If you end up liking it, you'll have a lot of fun playing it and getting all the different endings
If you prefer fast paced stuff, maybe not so much

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I like Heroes, but in small doses. That, and those games tend to frustrate me to no end, especially when I come across severely OP'd computer enemies and can't do a thing about them.

Did get the Witcher games. Anyone played Murdered: Soul Suspect yet? Looks good, but I'd like to know a little more of what I'm getting into before I invest in that one.
