Re: Nightmare Sphere 2 (NOT released yet)
It only becomes slightly easier when you have walls on either side of you, and you usually don't have that in the demo, so it's use is only in scaling a high wall. And if it were a necessary skill, then the other characters would be pointless to play. Using kick climb properly allows you to reach high places without having to spend AP in weapon skills.
And no one ever said these two skills were separated. Kick climb is just a different form of the wall slide skill, which is much harder to use effectively. If you ever get wall slide in the game, it'll likely include the ability to jump off of the wall you're sliding on, making kick climb useless, and giving the other characters who don't start with such a skill the ability to reach those high places more easily, and scale a wall that two uppercut skills won't reach.
So no, he didn't 'change' anything, he just gave the thief a skill based version of the wall slide skill from the first game, which will very likely be found as a reward somewhere in the completed version of this game, making wall climbing easy again. Just like how the wings made multi jumping useless, wall slide will make kick climbing useless.
If you can't use the skill, then just don't use it. Nothing requires you to use this skill, except for grabbing goodies in the game early.
