Re: What made you feel giddy today?
My little bro gave me an old iPhone as a gift some couple or so weeks ago, since he got a new phone.
It's old and there's a smaaall little spot on the screen that's broke and grey, just enough to blotch up the call button a bit.
I've always been resourceful when it comes to finding what I want online and savvy when it comes to technology, so despite that I've been told by friends how risky it is to do it I looked up how to jailbreak it online. I figured it was better than having an iPhone that, at best, could hook up to my router and allow me to surf the web from anywhere in my house, otherwise acting as a fancy paperweight.
Since I never did it before, it took me a while to get the basics, but in the end I ended up finding two programs: Evasi0n and iFunbox.
So, after figuring a few things out, I installed iTunes, unpacked Evasi0n, did an automatic 'jailbreaking for dummies' on my new iphone, and installed a couple of recommended apps along with Retroarch.
One guide, the guide for Evasi0n I think, recommended a downloader app to download stuff. But since I already had the ROMs and such in my old collections, I kept looking and found iFunbox.
It's nothing special, to be perfectly honest. The iPhone's kinda old so it can't play things like the DS or Doom through PrBoom at all, unless it's just the app screwing up. Either way, I think there's a possibility there might be a solution somewhere. What I've tested so far for the GBA resulted in laggy gameplay. I haven't tried the SNES yet, but it can play the NES, and I have a decent collection for that.
All in all, nothing amazing or truly special, but considering this was my first time actually doing this and it seems I did it flawlessly, I feel rather accomplished.
