Fae ears would basically be like an extreme version of elf ears at least in my way of thinking. They might even be the same though since in most folklore elves are fae.

Mind the gap is old hat in the forums. Back in the day (and even now) many people introduce themselves in their first post, as if saying 'Hello!' at the doorstep and then taking a single step and fall into a black void of nothingness. So the 'mind the gap' is basically a 'don't disappear after your first post' thing.

This is an adapted version of Host's explanation. All credit to him, for being the first person to answer my question fully and understandably.
