Re: Anime: Highschool of the Dead

thats the point. i found him a bit to needlessly evil anyway.
I know it's the point, but as you said, he's pretty needlessly evil. How come whenever these character's show their heads, the protagonists don't fucking kill them? This guy was a pervert making a cult, that's going to be 20 times more dangerous than any one idiot trying to get a lay and a motorcycle.

Because they had the opportunity to run and not kill him.

Up to this point, they've done their killing by saying that they weren't killing humans, but "Them". For the characters that have killed those they saw as human, it weighs on them - Komuro with Hisashi, and later Kouta and a certain officer lady. The only reason that motorcycle boy was easier to leave to die was that he was already long gone, and was a direct threat of "him or us".

Shido-sensei has not yet put the protagonists in a position of "him or us" (although Rei would GLADLY see him die).

one of the most impressive things about this anime is that breasts hang more realistically than normal in anime.
But they still managed to go ott with size and bounce... not that thats a bad thing at all

Eh. I do wish that anime didn't always put such huge tits on such young girls. It creeps me out a little bit sometimes. I also sometimes wish that they did some more realistic proportions to their female characters... but that's just a dream and it'll never happen.

I'm aware of why they ran and everything, and it did make sense. It just bugs me a bit that they just sat back and let him take full control. Why couldn't the doctor have done anything? And he's an utterly creepy bastard.

Re: Anime: Highschool of the Dead

I've been reading the manga for a while, and I'm enjoying the anime. I just wish Shizuka's (the doctor) friend (Rika, the sniper) was in the story more often.

Agreed. She seems like an interesting character. I'm hope that she turns out to not be simple eye candy.

Eh. Everyone has their opinions. If everything were made to be like I loved it, the entertainment industry would get boring to a majority of people rather quickly.

I'll bite. The series has me hooked even if I disagree with some design choices.

Well, in the beginning she's mainly the daft-minded fanservice character. Her main contributions in the early going are bringing the others to her friend's house, where they find the guns and from where they rescue Alice. Later on she has more use, in cases having to do with actual medical needs, in particular when she stops Kohta from having a mental breakdown (Chapter 26) by going into serious mode. She also has significant moments with Alice (seeing your dad get killed can cause issues) and also with Rei when she's injured later on.

The thing to keep in mind is that she is a ditz, but she's also a nurse with a degree and she knows what she's doing in that regard.

So far that's all I've gotten out of her, and first impressions are rather strong. I'm starting to even get a bit upset with what they're doing with Saeko's character. Yes I know, fan service, it's what the show is for. But sometimes I have trouble taking it seriously.

Re: Anime: Highschool of the Dead

I like Saeko quite alot actually. excusing the random panty shots early on and her current state of dress she has that grace of character that makes me hooked so far with her. not sure if i can word it properly but she just has a state of mind i can agree with.

edit: question! i havnt read the manga at all so for those who have read it and watched it so far about how long do you anticipate the series to last so far for the anime? and is the managa even done yet?

The simple fact is that if you can make someone look incredibly badass whether they're wearing a kendo uniform or a ripped school uniform or an apron and panties, you've created an awesome character.

The Manga has not yet ended and is still running. It will begin to be sold in America by Yen Press January 4th, 2011. The Anime is intended to run for thirteen episodes, and then there may be more in the future. The Anime is also already licensed for release in America (was licensed before it even began airing in Japan) and is already going through the dubbing process.

Re: Anime: Highschool of the Dead

I repeat, I like Saeko. She's an interesting character. I just don't like the fact that they tossed her in a skimpy outfit because the laundry wasn't done, and it doesn't look like they'll be putting her in anything more in the near future.

Yes, it's amazing that they've still managed to make her act fairly bad ass despite the outfit, but I'd still prefer her wearing something a little more.
