Possible ULMF project?

Hey everybody,

I have to admit I've been lurking this site for quite a while now, and was too lazy to make an account :( Anyways, I've made one now :) and I have a possible project for us.

What I'm doing is making a 2D game all in java. Since I've never worked any graphics before with java, it's an awesome learning experience for me, so this project will definitely not die easy. This is what I have so far,

  • Sprites
  • Animation of Sprites
  • Movement of Sprites
  • All this is easily added to the Game engine

I have been working on this for awhile, and I'm really learning a what. Now what I think would be great, is we can create a game all from ULMF ideas. The art, characters, storyboard, everything. So what I was thinking is that you guys could help create Sprites, maybe create a storyboard as to what is happening in the game, the actual character(s), and anything else that goes on with the game. I can make all the programming behind it, or if there are any other java developers out there that want to help, that would be great, but I do want to try and do all I can by myself.

What do you guys think?

As a budding developer who would give ideas and comments instead of BACKSEAT MODDING, I will happily state that I am interested in this project. I can help you with the design of my character by description. Unfortunately for me though I am terrible at making sprite art.

I do hope this wouldn't hinder your progress in any way.

That would be great. Some people are good artists but they can't think of a description for a character, which this would definitely help. (And yes, I noticed the backseat modding lol)

Any help at all works

Considering how little traffic there is in that sub-forum, it'd be bad for the project.

Good idea. Actually, since there's less traffic in the EE section, I think I'll post my thread in the hentai games section instead. And in fact, I have some fanfiction I wanna post, but I want more people to see it. I'll post it in the hentai games section.

When i saw 'using ulmf ideas and characters' the first thing i thought of was a side scrolling fighting game using characters (both player and enemy) based off ulmf members.

You must give a debut to the blanket monster we have somewhat coined here. I demand it. Also, that sounds like a great idea. A game based on ULMF ideas. That'd be frickin' awesome.

Cool, now all we need is a writer or musician in the team. Oh and an even better game idea than the stuff I heard here.

By the way, have you messed around with gamemaker 8.1? I think creating the code with this program will be much faster than writing it all out in java, but it's your call. :)

I would like it so it wasn't a side-scrolling game actually, so we would need sprites of the heroine from all sides. But that's just my opinion.

The reason I'm not using another program to make it is that I want this to be a learning experience for me, and I won't learn much with just using a program.

This won't be in 3D, but eventually after I get enough experience and ULMF contributes enough, I could definitely start working with 3D.
