I just released a 1.2 patch that will address both of these. There was a bad switch in Noemi's capture that only triggered 3/4ths of the time. You were one of the unlucky ones unfortunately. 1.2 will resolve this and be retroactive.

I think 1.1 addressed Ulya's black screen. Any time the screen is black but you can still access the menu use the id ring. It means that I was missing a 'fade in' command at the end of an event and the id ring event has a fade in of its own at the end.

You'll find the patch on my blog. They stack so you'll only need 1.2

Edit : There's actually quite a bit of content beyond that. Essentially that's the start of the 0.6b content. I don't actually do the wiki, some of my fans do, and they are still playing through and writing up the new content.

So I think that we've found and killed every major bug in the 0.6b so I'm going to make 0.6b.3 the final version. Resolved since the public beta was release was

-A great deal of issues with the cleanup after Terra including Vanessa, Cecilia, and Ariel with their associated events.

-Fadeouts in the Tenta enclave should be fixed.

-The brothel should spawn more customers, but customers will only spawn the the player is 'at risk'. Walking around town will not generate customers!

-Changed the text skip button from shift to control so it stops clipping with sprint.

-Tram conversation topic reworked. If you don't know what to do after recapturing Terra talk to Teresa or Danielle about the tram. Other subjects need to be discussed first.

-Tentacle caves should work properly now.

-Noemi's capture sequence adjsuted so it should be more reliable.

-as102p and HirotonoRei did a great deal of copy editing so the game should read much cleaner now.

Note : Sometime between now and July the RTP for VX changed. If you get crashes around the jungle orcs or with any missing files please download and reinstall it new. Harem should have absolutely no crashes from missing files in the final version.



0.6b.6 Rar file with the images and songs at 'normal' quality. 150mb, just unpack and play after installing RTP.

Hopefully this is the last of the patches!

Fixes -
-Terra will either be with Vanessa or in the barracks on the dark path, not both at once.
-Charmike is accessible. Useless, but accessible
-Fixed a few block events in Western Rata map
-Noemi will appear at the right time in the grove
-Increased the speed of the tentacle ambush in eastern mines. Should happen more reliably now. Should also be a retroactive fix.

0.6b.8




Patch 8 (only usable from 0.6b.3 final or later, not tested w/ beta). Overwrite the data folder with new contents.




If you have any issues with the jungle orc village please uninstall your current rtp and redownload it. I believe that issue was caused by an update the was released in secret.

"Harem" is a painfully generic name for a harem game.

name it "Ring of Id" after the main plot mcgruffin, or name it "X's Harem quest" after the main character.

just give it an actual name rather than a placeholder.

Can I claim seniority to it? I started this back when most English RPG maker games had names like 'Project1' . The name was decently unique for it's time.

And after 2 years and 20k+ downloads of 6a alone, whatever little I gain by coming up with a more 'interesting' name I'd more than lose in player confusion.

Can I claim seniority to it? I started this back when most English RPG maker games had names like 'Project1' . The name was decently unique for it's time.

And after 2 years and 20k+ downloads of 6a alone, whatever little I gain by coming up with a more 'interesting' name I'd more than lose in player confusion.

Perhaps a compromise that minimizes confusion and also promotes game's unique plot. Something like:

Harem: My Kingdom Needs Women! [By ker]

or

Harem (aka My Kingdom Needs Women!) [By ker]

0.6b.8 has been upgraded to the 0.6b final. A few insignificant bugs remain but it's time to move onto 0.6c.

Known bugs
-Sarah reappears to early on the light path. But she doesn't do anything until she's supposed to.

-It's possible that if you hold off finishing the orc/goblin sidequest until after clearing the mines the jungle orcs may not appear. I have a fix for it, but it's a fix that could cause other issues and there's minimal gameplay impact to not being able to finish that quest immediately that I'm choosing to leave it in place until 0.6c testing.

-Various issues if you intentionally stay in the middle, bouncing between light and dark. It's not a supported path and the issues really only show up if you intentionally stay gray. Even a slight preference to light or dark choices are enough to keep you out of the middle.

-This is the usual non-bug issue. Any issue with .dll or files being missing isn't a issue with the game, rather you are missing the VX RTP (not VX ACE) or the extraction/download corrupted. Uninstall/reinstall and it should fix the issue.

posted this in hongfire, but i think the dark path is still broken.

"i got ariel and venessa again, but "How long does loyalty last?+Conversation(Dark Path Terra scene) never triggered, so none of angelica's scenes triggered either.

questioning the priestess about the tram still leads to the "what, after recapturing that little tart, you aren't even going to use her?" line.

does this break the game?

What do you do with the Pirate Map? I got it from beating the pirates in the Fishing Village
as a Hunter's Guild's quest, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I suppose it refers to the island west
of the jungle orcs' forest, but there's no way of getting there and the map item doesn't do anything.
From hongfire, it is not yet implemented.

Alright, had a reply to comment kind blow up to a full size report so I guess I'll lay it out here as "Plans for 0.6c"

So with the usual caveat that this is all only planned and I haven't had time to full read and digest all the feedback yet.

1. Re-organize Noemi's escape into a way that's more obvious and logical to the player.
2. Redo the ambush in the Eastern Corsix Mine
Both 1&2 should be fairly easy to do with the new RET system.
3. Let the player be more in control of the action. There's going to be a brief on-rails sections to start 0.6c (3-4 scenes with current storyboarding) and then the old map will open up fully. There will be anywhere between 5-10 individual quests with only about 3-4 fully required to progress.
4. Have more choices for the player to make. While I knew that 0.6a&b would be fairly linear it was too much so, especially coming off of 0.5 which was quasi-linear.
5. There will be more interactions between the different characters in the harem.
6. The overland map and encounters therein will be more important to plot and hopefully more interesting.
7. Expanding some of the side-quests in the game and making sure they work properly.
8. I will probably rework the secret scene with Melony/Betsy but that will not be retroactive. I had laid some of the groundwork for it on 0.6b.8 but was too tied up w/ bug hunting.

That's my current too do list. Let me know what you think needs to be added!

did you squash the bug i mentioned earlier? the one where Terra's "rescue" scene doesn't trigger after you get her back? (dark path) because that seems to prevent a bunch of other scenes, and any talk about using the tram a second time (so it breaks the game?)

Normally, I'm against using necromancy, but the game lives again and since this thread already exists, may as well use it.

So, for those who are unaware, Ker has been working on Harem again and has rebooted the series in VX-Ace. He's started over from the beginning and has been making a solid effort at releasing a more polished experience and has had a number of releases now. So, for those who enjoyed Harem before, it's in a fair condition to give another look.
