I agree that you should do this. It'd be helpful from a close range like that.

(A) 'Holy beam' again



Elena saw the thing coming towards her again, and she knew that she couldn't let it grab her again, or she may not be able to get free the next time. She again quickly gathered her energy up and when she had enough ready, she unleashed another 'Holy beam' at the creature, this time hitting it full on in what passed for its face, knocking it back a good deal, though it didn't take it out completely. (Elena cast 'Holy beam' and rolled a 30 vs 24 for the Mind Sucker, hitting it and dealing a total of 15 HP dmg. She also spent 15 Pw.)

The strange creature was reeling from Elena's blast, and it seemed to be quite hurt now, though she wasn't sure exactly how much. When it tried to come at her again, it was moving a bit slower from its wounds it seemed, and Elena was easily able to evade its grab attempt on her with a flap of her wings, jumping back a bit. (The Mind Sucker rolled an 13 vs 17 for Elena to grapple her, missing her.)

I'll not let you grab me again. Stupid tentacled thing. Why does it have to be icky slimy tentacles?” Elena said, maintaining her battle stance after she managed to get back, because even though it was wounded, she didn't know what exactly it was capable of. For all she knew it would get its second wind or something soon and be able to catch her with ease, so she had to stay ready.

(Elena recovers 2 Pw this turn.)

1. Avenging light – deals 1d10 radiant + magic modifier dmg on hit. (costs 5 Pw to use)
2. Heavens lightning – deals 1d8 lightning + magic modifier dmg on hit. (costs 5 Pw to use)
3. Blinding light – doesn't deal any dmg, but blinds all enemies in room assuming it hits all of them for 2 turns, being blinded causes -10 to all attack rolls & -5 to evasion rolls. (costs 8 Pw to use)
4. Holy beam – deals 2d8 radiant + magic modifier dmg on hit. (costs 15 Pw to use)
5. Light heal – casting recovers 1d8 + magic modifier on the one it is cast on. Automatically succeeds on a cast. (costs 8 Pw to use)
6. Firebolt – deals 1d12 fire + magic modifier dmg on hit. (costs 12 Pw to use)
7. Remove curse – Does what the name implies, however Elena must make a roll of 35 or higher to get it to work and if it fails, Elena must wait 5 turns before attempting the spell again. Can only remove the curse from one item at a time. Costs 15 Pw to use.
8. (Passive) Elena's corruption caps at level 15 instead of level 10.

Enemies:
lvl 6 Mind sucker – HP: 9/25, PP: 0/18, status: quite hurt with a burned patch of flesh on the top of its head, though it's not down for the count just yet

Options:

(A) – Attack.

(B) – Retreat.

(C) – Surrender.

(D) – Other.

(Short update I know. If you all want to, I could run these one on one battles with 2 actions per turn so they get done faster. Just pick the first action, and assuming she gets the chance, then the second action is what she'd use provided she isn't grappled or whatnot.)

Action 1: A Holy Beam. (Best chance to kill it in one blow.)
Action 2: A Avenging Light. Fire Bolt if 1 misses. (Best spells we have energy for if 1 doesn't kill it.)

(A) 'Holy beam' once more with feeling



Elena readied her magic once more and after gathering it back up again, she blasted another 'Holy beam' straight at the strange creature, catching it just in its side where the blast carried it into the far wall of the room. As soon as her beam was through and died down, the creature fell to the ground with a thump, very much dead. (Elena cast 'Holy beam' again and rolled a 43 vs 42 for the Mind Sucker, hitting and dealing much more damage than it had left so boom it's dead. She spent 15 Pw too.)

Hah... hah... finally... hah... what was that thing anyway? I hope I don't have to fight too many of those things and those creepy tentacles with the mouths on them while I'm in here,” Elena asked herself, panting a bit from exerting so much of her magical energies and shivering at the thought of more of those strange creatures that she'd never seen or heard of before.

She saw that the way towards the door on the west side of the room was now clear and she had nothing blocking her path forwards. She thought for a second though that she might need to rest for a minute or so before she continued to recover her energy a little, but of course that held its own risks.

What should Elena do now?
