Isn't the mirror in the same room where the cat is?

I clicked on everything there (Fire, stairs, cat, chest). I cant interact with anything else in that room.

Normally the mirror with the green circle on it is on the right-hand side of the room where the cat is, sure you've interacted with it?

The other thing I can think of is you're playing with an old version of the game. The edit feature using the mirror was introduced some time after the initial retail version.

I downloaded a torrent that says it was the latest version and i was able to edit my character at the beggining of the game. The green circle didn't even appear in the church which means it might of been on older version i downloaded or the trial.

Em, refer to 1st page guide is probably fastest.
Only difference is I don't use a gunner's broom or thrusting swords. (Using Alternative instead, which doubles as a melee)

You can in beginner mode, but there's a pre-requisite.

Only after beating the game and entering Roland's private room. Then click on the mirror there to unlock editing.

Hey Harley, looks like they pretty much confirmed that red essence is on the equipment drop only. Though that's likely old news for you.

In beginner mode, there will be no mirror in the church. You had to defeat all the world boss, then go inside your room via the Church staircase or Windbreak. You can finally Make-up your characters then.


Endurance effect status ailment, no wonder Rosary increases a lot of stats after getting Lycanthrope and Congestion/Futanari debuffers.

Not to be offensive, but I was genuinely asking for his opinion on what he thought the drop system was.

If I didn't understand it wrongly, red essences could drop both from enemies or appear as items on the dungeon floor. For the former, the drop would depend on the enemy in question (Magic 3 drops from Black Hands for example but the red essence could also be magic 1 or magic 2) while for the latter it would be randomly chosen from the enemies present on the floor and then generated so players might get lucky with a vitality 3 armour while others would see vitality 3 + essence 2 on a weapon.

As I've already mentioned, it's been like this for ages now. Wiki had this info probably since the first half of last year.

Anyway, Yuki-kun. You knew about the money generator thingy, but did you also knew that you could use both Cat-suit and Mermaid-shells without reducing the Mermaids-shell to a mere underwears ?
The bad news is that you could only wears half of both, but the good news is that you might be able to use both Body-type inscription (maybe, haven't gotten the chance yet) .

Inscriptions on armour which double up as underwear don't work when the armour is used as underwear.

If you've misunderstood the trick they're talking about on the wiki, it's to do with modifiying stats on an underwear by keeping the top and bottom in varying states of repair.

Well, I didn't read the wiki so I didn't know. Truth be told, I just so happen to had both my Cat-suit and Mermaid-shell having Black-Goat inscribed, so I had no Idea of telling if it works for both inscription.
The trick master mention from the wiki is what I think I did, so I might be wrong here, but I will try to find some other useful inscription first before losing all hopes.

It Works Master, it totally eFfing Works!
I just tried Black Goat on Cat-suit and Minos Daemon on Mermaid-shell, and upon reading the Condition-menu, it wrote Counter: Flame-Barrier, and Profile-menu stating that I still have the 50 magic resist.
Haven't tried on actual field yet, but, but... It Should Work!

P.S.:
What do you mean by keeping both the top and bottom in varying states of repair?

Old news, both DragonPaladin and I figured it out months ago. New players can be forgiven for not figuring this out on their own when they don't search this thread.

Mermaid shell only recently got a modification to be worn as underwear, previously it could only be worn as an armour with 3 separate parts. The trick I mentioned in the wiki does not apply to the mermaid shell though.

Use a different inscription for the outfit doubling up as underwear and you'll find out for yourself if I'm bluffing or you're hallucinating.

Unless things changed with the recent patch, having my top-outfit equipped with the lightning armour inscription and a bunny suit with the thorn armour inscription would have made it easy for me to make it to level 100 on the border forest since both inscriptions would trigger upon being hit.

If it does work for you, then you're playing with an older version. From the wiki:

下着は14/10/03版から不可能に仕様変更。

Inscriptions on underwear no longer activate as of the 3rd October 2014 version of the game.

My point is that I get to change the status of Mermaids-shell from being underwear into becoming a whole wears while still wearing Cat-suit. So it was like I was wearing 2 wears with no under at the same time. I even got the Mermaid-shell 10 water resist to work where it should not have if it was an underwear.


Ah, what the heck. I wouldn't want to debate on this much longer, master. I mean, having the bottom totally expose is Dangerous in its own way. Sure I get to use Half-effect from 2 essences of Cat-suit and 2 essences of Mermaids-shell as well as 2 working inscriptions, but its going to be one heck of a deadly bargain. Going bottomless on BoE was like, whaa?!!


P.S.: I don't know what patch I use, but I'm pretty sure it was April 2015. at least there are birth-scene-loop with the Doctor, haven't tried the one on the church since I do a Horny-Virgin run.
I thought only one kind of counter-inscription can work at a time. Either La Danse Macabre, Jack-in-Iron, or World Boss inscription may trigger from one attack.

That's been my theory before it was announced. I recall asking the author how does red star drop and got a 'go figure it out your-self.' (in nicer language)
So we locked it down to equipment drop or pregnancy and I settled for equipment drop after getting Agi-3 Automatic from Automaton. Somewhere around march? of last year (since that was when red star was implemented) and much before the wiki actually made a statement.

It's nice to get a confirmation from the wiki though. That's why I quoted it. (Since I am still waiting for that big patch and haven't been keeping up to date.)

But since they changed the system, I am getting back into the action farming for seal essence ... again.

(Haven't found a good over-slot for alternative, and seal essence is too rare for my liking. So farming out 6 while maxxing gears so I can play around and get used to alternative. I kinda want mithirl 2 alternative since I can use it for the first 10~15 floors without swapping weapons)

The way the patch changed how hard mode gains etc (cause farming and upgrade was very slow due to 4k etc repairs on burial in hard ._. )

Despite my PC being one of the best in maintaining dura on clothing ... but weapon dura dies fast

Basically, me and Harley are so old-school in this game, we figured out a lot of the game system like crafting before wiki announced it. When wiki finds out something we haven't, it's basically, '... wait what?'

otoh, it's good to have confirmation that random drop red essence is based on the monsters present. *thinks*
I need moar Magi-Equip 2 Essence :X Only black knight drops them, and they are never red essence? *is defeated*

@Crownlustre: A picture if you please. I can't really understand what you're on about since you're making no sense.

If you see the pareo, then the mermaid shell is being worn as an outer layer. If you don't see it, it's worn as underwear.

The 10% resistance to water-based attacks only applies if you wear it as an armour, not as underwear. The rule should apply since the bunny suit I always use doesn't give me 10% protection from animal attacks when I use it as underwear.

Last I checked, mermaid shell worn as an underwear would fit underneath stray cat. If you tried to wear the mermaid shell over the stray cat the latter would be unequipped.

The armour inscriptions I'm taking about are the boss-specific ones. I have two different ones equipped on my current character but they'll never work in tandem since inscriptions don't trigger on underwear. The tuxedo skeleton and iron-jack inscriptions WILL work in tandem with boss-armour inscriptions since obviously they are equipped on different items (collar and accessory if I remember right).

There ya go! Sorry if there are any error, I never tried uploading stuff before and I don't know how to upload properly. Also, sorry for it being small. Just squint your eyes hard and you will see that:

The first pic shows that she had both Cat-suit and Mermaid-shell being worn as Wears, and no underwear (and supposedly disarmed lower half). Also shows that cat-suit had Black-goat inscribed.
The second shows that mermaid-shell had Minos Daemon inscription.
The third shows that I had Minos Daemon inscription being enabled as Counter: Flame-barrier, and a corrupted-virgin.
The fourth shows that I still had that 10 water resist and 50 magic resist from Mermaid-shell.

Being a virgin, of course the only inscription I can get for the uterus was the Phantom.
