Re: Kantai Collection

Hmmm Kiso Kai Ni looks so awesome. I am rather tempted to swap her in to replace my Ooi... Even though Ooi is about level 55 right now... Such tough choices :<

Is there a reliable way of getting construction kits? I can't seem to find them anywhere.

The daily quests, but even then, you pretty much only get back what you spent for it.

I think there's a map you can try and grind crafts out of. Not sure which one.

If you do every daily/weekly quest that can be completed by world 2 at the latest, you can average something like 20 devkits a day, though you have to use 8 for the daily crafting quests so you would only get... I think I looked them all up and figured you could get 19 a day, using 8, for a net of 11. Personally I don't bother with a couple dailies (fuck 2-X boss nodes, for example) so I get closer to a net of like 8-9.

But yeah. That's your real source. 2-4 has a single node that drops dev materials, but it's not really worth farming. As long as you aren't doing too many crafts a day you'll get plenty of them stocked up soon enough by doing dailies.

(You're not going to like either answer)

Kumano and Suzuya are, as far as I am aware, only available from battleship crafting recipes. You're looking at 400/100/600/30 or 400/30/600/30 for them; you might get lucky and get a Nagato/Mutsu from them as well. I got a Nagato from the 100 version, but people get em from both.

300/30/400/30 is the cheapest recipe for a carrier, at about 11% carrier 31% light carrier. There are more expensive versions that give a somewhat better chance of a carrier (300/300/600/600 is about 19% carrier) but whether the relatively minor % boost is worth the huge resource increase is arguable.

There are no recipes that will guaranteed give you a Hiryuu or a Suzuya or whatever in 5 tries.

If you particularly want a ship, check the wiki drop list to see which maps said ship drops from and try farming them. Shoukaku/Zuikaku don't start dropping until 4-4 and beyond; I got a Shoukaku from from the 300/300/600/600 recipe, but the cheaper one has been good to me as well for other carriers. Souryuu I got from 4-1 farming; Hiryuu is unfortunately only really from boss nodes/crafting, but 2-3 is a good place to farm for her since it drops a ton of rare ships (Makigumo, I-168, etc).

Re: Kantai Collection

I'm starting to regret not grinding Kiso up to 65 before the event.

Re: Kantai Collection

Well, it's a lot easier if you have the fortune to already have some other subs to back up Iona on sub-only runs. I was lucky enough my opening airstrike/pre-emptive torpedoes tended to take her out or at least crit her so she didn't do so much damage but the times it didn't.... god damn it was frustrating, especially when I tried it without Iona or any subs.... and then got lasered by the Nagaras :(

Re: Kantai Collection

I managed to craft one submarine in my career, but it sank. 10 HP piece of crap that wasn't able to land any hits, could you blame me? T_T

Does anyone know how to open up more dock spaces? I don't know if I should just spam my insta-repairs or not.

Re: Kantai Collection

You can buy more dock space by buying a dock key for points from the shop. Be careful though, the dock key can be used to either open up an extra building dock or a repair dock, so make sure you use it where you actually want to.

Re: Kantai Collection

You have to baby those subs, often putting them as the flagship so they don't sink. Eventually, they become much better, especially since good ASW doesn't come till near the late game.

Edit: Welp, maintenance finished and Naka-chan is officially an idol now.

Alright, thanks!! Maybe I'll try to see if I can get points someday.

Yeeah... I'll be a lot more careful with my submarines if I ever get another one again.

Well my Naka is level 6, so I should probably start getting on that. Do you know what level she needs to be to get remodeled into the idol form?

From what I've been reading and seeing around, it seems to be safe to advance to the next node if your daughters are orange, but red is sink.

That's been my experience as well, but do take into consideration they apparently suffer a general stat debuff on orange damage and won't be as effective.

Re: Kantai Collection

Ok, just want to get some more advice so I know what to do the next time the lottery rolls around.

I've tried it twice already, and first time I got network/vpn problems so when I finally logged back on it was too late.

Second time I got in, clicked an open server and "network error." When I tried to refresh to try again all the servers were full.

So my question is that if I get a network error, what should I do? I've switched to a different VPN that seems to be faster than the other one I used, but if it happens again I want to know what I should do.

Also, I heard that you can disconnect from the VPN once the page loads and it will use your regular internet's dl speed, but I'm not sure if this is true. Anything about that I should know about?

At first I tried to do this on a whim, but now that I've been denied twice and each time due to stupid things like dmm giving me crap and vpn problems, it's aroused my competitive spirit and I'll get into this stupid game if it's the last thing I do. So to prepare for battle, any information/tips would be appreciated.

(Also I saw the picture of the starter ships and I liked Murakumo so I kinda just want to play the game to see what she's like. >_>)

Well, I can't really offer advice on the lottery, but I can confirm for you that once your home screen in game loads up you can disconnect from the vpn and use your normal connection. It's what I do all the time, although the occasional prompt asking you to refresh (I think that's what it is) will pop up which I just cancel and keep playing.

Just get your api link and use a flash projector instead. Saves you the trouble of needing to use the VPN every single time you want to load up the game.

Re: Kantai Collection

Thanks for some tips. Finally got in, and got my API code and everything.

Favorite ship so far is Hatsuharu, dunno why but I'm a sucker for the old Japanese speech pattern. Must come from watching too much Spice and Wolf...

Anyway, what's the best way to get more fuel? Been running out lately. Currently have a fleet of around lvl 3-8 Destroyers/CL/CA and just beat the boss of 1-2. Is this on par for the levels, or should I grind some more?

Edit: Oh, and also, should I be leveling up submarines now? I got I-168 randomly when crafting, and I keep hearing they'll be useful later, but I'm not exactly sure what to do with her...
