This has my support. Artwork looks great and content seems promising (I enjoy futa a lot myself). Just be aware that offbeatr takes a CHUNK of your donations for their trouble.

Re: Malise and the Machine (New RPG!)

Each fetish is gonna have its fans and haters, along with people somewhere in between. There's basically going to be people who love or hate certain mix of fetish in a H-game.

Going from a game dev's point of view, I'd disregard the few overly vocal forum goers about this or that fetish, don't let that influence your game making too much. Hell the majority of your paying customer base are silent, and frankly most of the voice you hear here and on other similar sites aren't paying customers. I'm also biased in thinking that folk that makes "veiled" threat and employ unrefined manipulation are signs of their immaturity and indicative of non-payers anyway.

If you're going for the big demographic, look to your own research: What category sells well on DLsite? What type of heroine? What game system? H content? What art style ...etc, rather then pay attention to the lone voices here and there that happens to scream the loudest.

I'd personally recommend that a game developer go with their own preference in general, at least for their first game. as they tend to be more motivated and produce higher quality work, which goes a ways to establishing your name and quality before you go into other areas that interest you as a developer less.

I see futa as a stronger fetish by nature much like Guro, by which I mean people tend more toward Love or hate rather then somewhere in the middle neutral. It'll completely turn off a chunk of customer base while generating large interest by another chunk of customer base with a high chance of sales. Of course you can soften its polarizing impact abit (artificial futa via parasite / temporary magic ...etc), or make it optional as many game dev have done before. Pros and Cons =3

For example, Natural permanent Futa are a 100% deal breaker for me, but artificial Futa especially Parasitic Futa I can accept especially if the monster is feminine or at least not a male humanoid, such as a slime or tentacle monstrosity which I could handle.

A recent RPG for example:
http://www.ulmf.org/bbs/showthread.php?t=25426
has Futa, but softened it to be appealing to even futa-averse players like myself via the use of parasitic futa and feminine monsters in those cases.

Still, if say hard futa (perma futa, natural futa, futa vs male ...etc) is exactly up your alley and you're developing, by all means, I'd recommend you go with it.

I myself very much love the in-battle H cut-in graphic that reflects your status ala evil Goddess, so that being a feature in this game definitely put this on the radar for me.

While I don't normally like 3D model, I do find your heroine design appealing :D

I get the sense the futa you're thinking of isn't "hard" futa, so all in all it ranks high on my watch list and perhaps support list once there's a demo to look at :D.

Re: Malise and the Machine (New RPG!)

Hentie, that game has an option, literally when you start the game, to turn futa off completely in the game. If it did not have that option, I would have passed on that game no differently than I pass any other game that has futa in it.

I could go on about how you are somehow not aware that the game you mentioned actively has an option to turn off futa when you start a game. The questions that are asked in that game when you begin a new game are as follows: difficulty, allow futa, show cross sections, and cutscene duration. How futa is "disguised" is irrelevant to me, its futa, I do not want it, and thats basically a guaranteed lack of interest on my part toward any game that features it.

The thing here is that I would be interested in this game on a basic level as it currently stands. Add in futa, and that interest level becomes zero just like any other futa h-game. However if there were a way to disable it completely like in that Creature Hunter game, I would likely play the game anyway.

I really do not care if anyone else likes or dislikes futa. There is no argument that is going to be had about it from me. I do not like it, and therefore I do not play games that have it.

I saw the option, but left it off since the futa was watered down enough for me to just about handle it, if it was any "harder" I'd have turned it off.

I'm just curious. Is fairy fighting included in your blacklist?

Yes. There is no "case by case" consideration for me. If it has futa, I do not play it.

Re: Malise and the Machine (New RPG!)

Is the main characters going to have a penis or are there side characters/enemies going to be futa? Having futa characters in a game and having them use their tool for whatever is fine, but I rather not have the main characters be one.

Optional is probably a way to go, but then blocking events and stuff because of it might just create more work.
Although I am sure there's a funny joke somewhere with an android character who is able to have different augmentations to her body and one of them just happens to be a giant penis.

Oh and cool picture although the robot knees scare me a little:confused:
Futa would be a side character / enemy thing only. The game definitely won't revolve around it or anything (or any one fetish really). Beyond that, perhaps something could be done with an optional patch down the road. We'll see.

So, now a post that questions game play :D

1) Skills system, do we learn skills leveling up? Training in a certain category? Do you also learn special skills from events?

2) Will there be different weapons? This is more for me personally, i'd like to use machine nun-chuckus! Well, stuff like guns have +aim and laser swords have more skills/ armor penetration or some shit.

3) Prostitution? Yes please? ;D - with this you could have some prostitution scenes be futa so it'd be completely optional, and you can also have category for prostitution ranging from said fetishes you will include.
1) The skill system is still in the design phase, but I can tell you the direction it is heading. Learning skills will be more interactive than just acquiring them on level up. It will either have something to do with crafting or spending some kind of points/currency for them (or a combination of the two). Skills will have requirements for them to be available for use. While I haven't pinned down what all of these could potentially be yet, the character's equipped weapon type will certainly be one (equipped armor type / accessories may be another). This leads into the next question...

2) Each character will have at least two unique weapon types. These drastically affect how the character behaves in battle. You will be able to change weapons during battle. Currently the weapon types are Rifle and Minigun for one character, and Revolvers and Katana for the other. I'll go into more detail on this and how each weapon type behaves and affects stats/skills later.

3) Actually haven't thought about it, though it sounds like an interesting concept. I'll keep it in mind!

This has my support. Artwork looks great and content seems promising (I enjoy futa a lot myself). Just be aware that offbeatr takes a CHUNK of your donations for their trouble.
Thanks!

Yeah I was researching it more earlier, and I'm definitely looking for alternatives. The 30% thing is ridiculous and I really don't want to support them if there are other options. I haven't looked into Patreon yet, so that might be the next place I check out. I could potentially run my own crowdfunding campaign, though I feel like finding correct information on how to do it for a project with adult content would be nearly impossible.

SHINY!

Sweat and gloss, as well as other details you might notice, are dynamic. This example is the standard battle pose for one of the H stages of this outfit type. Check out the attached higher resolution version!

Re: Malise and the Machine (New RPG!)

Look, can we drop the futanari discussion? Nobody is going to convince the other side that they're wrong - because nobody is. Side A likes chicks with dicks, and that's cool. Side B does NOT like chicks with dicks - and that's cool too. Let's just agree to disagree and leave it be.

As an easy workaround for that issue in this game I'd suggest - yes - a toggle at the beginning of the game. But instead of taking out the futas, it replaces them with women wearing strap-ons. The poses remain the same, you just take out the cumshots.

Really like the art style

If I am reading it correctly you are using poser for the model then "flatten" it into a 2d image and apply effects?

Not that I have issue with it this particular clothing choice looks rather revealing for going up against enemies known to "like to have some fun" :p Is that just how people dress in the future or is there some in game narrative for it? Looks nice I won't complain either way.

there is a rule in rpg's: the more skin the armor shows, the better its stats are.
the reverse is true if wearer is male. dont ask me why

Re: Malise and the Machine (New RPG!)

hmm....now i'm wondering which character is malise, or if malise is a company or something. Is this the side character joining you?

She's nice and shiny, but i guess my preference is more toward the girl with the interesting hair...

Observation here: It seems Yuri lovers hate Futanari...Interesting...
This one is actually Malise. The android is named Neon, and she will be the character you begin the game with (at least, as I have it penned currently).

Yep, using Daz, Blender, and then editing/painting on the renders in Photoshop. Each image can take anywhere from between 4 - 10 or so render passes.

Regarding the armor style, it's probably partially inspired by Lilith games. Expect some ridiculousness with ridiculous excuses (clearly this body suit is made of shock resistant kinetic inhibitor nanomaterials, isn't that obvious?).

Love her bodyshape and face. If you want to take the perfectionist route, I think the glasses look kind of stupid though. It is because of the head/hair-glasses ratio. They fit her head, but not the puffy hair, but they look nice as an accesoire per se, maybe you should experiment with their size. Outfit is very nice. I wonder how it looks after it takes a shredding hit...
And what exactly do you mean by gloss? Sweat? Cumstains?
Multiple cumstains on the sprite are always a nice add on (a bit, much, totally drenched in cum)
Can't wait for the demo. Maybe as a christmas present for us?

In this case I was referring to the sweat, but to answer your question there will actually be three progressive layers of dynamic cum in multiple body areas.

That may not be unrealistic for a simple demo, but I don't want to make any promises. I'd rather release a quality demo with fully working H mechanics and no missing artwork. With this kind of game (and maybe any game really) I think a premature demo could do more harm than good.

Serious Question!

What are people's thoughts on game file size? How big is too big? Would you prefer a significantly smaller file size (like, half) over a small improvement to graphical quality?

Reminds me of the first trailer from kingdom hearts 3. Oooh the sweet waiting game. :)
But I already guessed that 4 months was quite a jolly guess. I mean,
even with the 3D rendering software, with different poses for everything in battle, different clothes, different cloth-destructions, different hornyness, different cumstains, different sweat, different... you need like 40 or more pictures for each situation. That means lots of work.

half of what? Doesn't the rpg maker usually have a given res for pictures anyways? If that's not what you meant, maybe you should show two pictures with that question, one in the higher, one in the lower quality. If you are talking about the pictures you posted before I can only talk for myself, but I don't really see a difference between the attachment and clicking on the picture itself.

Too big in my opinion is when it is bloated with music files and sounds, Or voices that are like the ones of the oneoneone games. Also people do not like it if you keep doing the same pose with only slight alterations (like only recolors to the rapists/tentacles) for the scenes.

An RPG Maker game with 1 gb or more is highly unusual, but if the quality is right, it is still ok. You need to compare the amount of content (more fappable material is always worth more mb) and the gameplay/time to the file size. But you will see lots of Visual Novels that have high quality graphics and are about 4gb in size.

Also, if you plan to update often instead of releasing a finished product (like the saki quest guy, koooonsoft or the parallel fantasy guy) people will also get pissed off about often loading big packages. Not everyone in the Forums has access to 16mbit/s internet.

the size of the file doesn't matter, if they really want the game they will wait the hours it takes to download, im blessed for downloading at 8mb per sec though so cant really say.

i remember downloading sengoku rance with my old internet, it took like 2 days XD worth every single second though.
Used to have a 8mbps too. My current Internet needed a whole month to load AC3 from steam.

Yep! I've created detailed spreadsheets to calculate all the artwork that will be needed based on armor type / weapon type / visual status effects / H effects / etc. To give you an idea of the level of detail going into it, there will be (as it stands) 996 versions of artwork just for the various combat/status effect poses for one of Malise's armor types (both possible weapon types being considered).

Is there like a rough/estimated time the game/demo would be released?
Not yet :(, sorry!

So yeah, file size.

I recently modified an open source PNG compressor that I am using on the enemy spritesheets, and have had great success with maintaining good visual quality while reducing the file size dramatically. We're talking 15 - 25 MB spritesheets (16 frames per pose) down to between 3 - 8 MB. This was necessary to get rid of pesky load times.

After calculating how much character artwork would be necessary (a lot of which can't be effectively composited in game without losing quality, meaning *a lot* more files are necessary), I've begun considering using the compressor on the character portraits. I'm actually pretty happy with the results, but I personally can see a difference in quality (especially zoomed in, and I plan on having a gallery with a zoom function...). Here's an example of compressed vs. non compressed. The hit to quality varies per image, but it's usually most obvious by flaws in coloring (note her skin tone is less colorful in the compressed version). The compressed version is 1/3 the filesize of the non compressed.

To summarize, we're effectively talking a difference of a few GB in overall filesize if I were to compress all the character artwork. I'm still up in the air on it. I'm also not sure what kind of limits distributors have on game sizes.
