Re: Malise and the Machine (New RPG!)
Each fetish is gonna have its fans and haters, along with people somewhere in between. There's basically going to be people who love or hate certain mix of fetish in a H-game.
Going from a game dev's point of view, I'd disregard the
few overly vocal forum goers about this or that fetish, don't let that influence your game making too much. Hell the majority of your paying customer base are silent, and frankly most of the voice you hear here and on other similar sites aren't paying customers. I'm also biased in thinking that folk that makes "veiled" threat and employ unrefined manipulation are signs of their immaturity and indicative of non-payers anyway.
If you're going for the big demographic, look to your own research: What category sells well on DLsite? What type of heroine? What game system? H content? What art style ...etc, rather then pay attention to the lone voices here and there that happens to scream the loudest.
I'd personally recommend that a game developer go with their own preference in general, at least for their first game. as they tend to be more motivated and produce higher quality work, which goes a ways to establishing your name and quality before you go into other areas that interest you as a developer less.
I see futa as a stronger fetish by nature much like Guro, by which I mean people tend more toward Love or hate rather then somewhere in the middle neutral. It'll completely turn off a chunk of customer base while generating large interest by another chunk of customer base with a high chance of sales. Of course you can soften its polarizing impact abit (artificial futa via parasite / temporary magic ...etc), or make it optional as many game dev have done before. Pros and Cons =3
For example, Natural permanent Futa are a 100% deal breaker for me, but artificial Futa especially Parasitic Futa I can accept especially if the monster is feminine or at least not a male humanoid, such as a slime or tentacle monstrosity which I could handle.
A recent RPG for example:
http://www.ulmf.org/bbs/showthread.php?t=25426
has Futa, but softened it to be appealing to even futa-averse players like myself via the use of parasitic futa and feminine monsters in those cases.
Still, if say hard futa (perma futa, natural futa, futa vs male ...etc) is exactly up your alley and you're developing, by all means, I'd recommend you go with it.
I myself very much love the in-battle H cut-in graphic that reflects your status ala evil Goddess, so that being a feature in this game definitely put this on the radar for me.
While I don't normally like 3D model, I do find your heroine design appealing
I get the sense the futa you're thinking of isn't "hard" futa, so all in all it ranks high on my watch list and perhaps support list once there's a demo to look at
