Yeah, on that front I totally agree. I definitely want other buttons to press than bondage.

i onyl have one main fusion skill atm but its actually really good for taking out the succubus ( the combo will definitely kill one on it's own including a miss), because the actual skill is thunder+double lashing= lightning whip (which is multihit, so i cant guarantee they'll all hit the succubus)

I don't want fusion skills to be too obvious though

edit- i just did a run through with the current build, ive added fusion skills, removed the immunity to being tied up for the foxgirl and succubus.
i killed just the things in my path and didn't stop to grind and i think the levelling is better, also with loot in the first dungeon you can go heavy crit early on at the cost of no magic. the bondage pic for the witch has been added but the ones for foxgirl/succubus havent been done yet, i might leave them until after i've finished the game overs

edit

:D

Re: Majo - Witch RPG (rpgmaker ace wip)

, theres not much added in terms of content, the traphole/foxgirl succubus game over has been added (you need to fail 6 times), and the bondage pic for izuki has been added
the succubus and foxgirl bondage images arent done but they're no longer immune to being tied up.

other changes, there's now 2 more instances of a slime boss, an evolving slime that starts purple, becomes a medi slime then finally a boss slime

I've added a fusion skill and also given the player two actions per battle turn in order to enable it, it does mean it's a lot harder to lose though cause you always seem to have time to heal...either way i found it fun to play, i found that killing only the things in my way on the optimum path lead to me being level 12 by the time i beat the 2nd dungeon... i'm concerned the game might be too easy once you know weaknesses so i might tone down the element percentages on the enemies a little

but for now im happy with it

Re: Majo - Witch RPG (rpgmaker ace wip)

And here comes another review.

Having played the most recent demo, I have to say it doesn't feel bad at all, some fights are sightly too easy with the double move system, the quite accessible grinding and the many good loots almost all of the monsters tend to have does make for a fairly easy game.

The possibilities for more combo/fusion attacks (only one existing in the demo I played), could also mean that fights can become even easier provided you find the combinations. While that might be bad for people expecting some challenge, I can't really say the difficulty level is detrimental. That's talking only about the battles, the demo's puzzles, are complex enough, without actually becoming annoying or too hard.

Ignoring the fact there's not that there's that many images in the demo, I can't say much of the art I've not said before. Not universally appealing, nothing is, but in my opinion, I like it and think at least a good chunk of other people do to. Comparing with earlier games and drawings of yours, there's a bit of an improvement.

Music, can't really say much, seeing as it is a demo, there's a lack of music outside of battles. And the battle music can get a little tiresome seeing as there's only one track (only for the moment, I hope.)

I can say I want to see the completed game.

Re: Majo - Witch RPG (rpgmaker ace wip)

ALSO, should i do pre-sales again? like with dash it would be sold in advance at a discounted price, I can't tell how it affected dash's sales but when i add them together, it's sold 137 copies, which means dash was already better than princess escape's full year.

my maths also tell me that pre-sales only lost me about £40 in income overall in comparison to full price sales, but that seems fine to me.

either way i really want to hear your thoughts? does it depend on the discount or should i just wait for release?

this game absolutely has to sell well in order for me to continue working on games at all, so i really need to know what you think.

this is a game i could expand upon quite a lot, there's a lot of things i wont have time to add in the next 3 weeks, such as player on enemy sex attacks, i know how to implement them now, but that's a lot of extra pics i don't have time to draw yet.

i'll only wait a few days

I didn't manage to check out the newest demo this weekend, sorry. I hate to admit it, but the reason I didn't play was Chrome flagged the demo as malicious and I was too lazy to open Firefox and download it. Obvious false positive, but might be worth looking into?

I have to zip my files to avoid that, cba most of the time, chrome flags anything by rpgmaker or game maker tbh

I hope I don't come out as too harsh on this but here it goes, take it with a grain of salt and remember this is just my personal opinion, so you are free to take it all, take some or disregard everything as you please.

I think Dash sales did better than your other games was because Lustfire's art.

I think you need to improve the overall look of your games if you want to be successful. Your drawings lack anatomy and weight, they seem rather flat, and proportions are different between drawings very often.

If you have trouble with anatomy you should be copying photos, one way you can do this and still get stylized drawings is to get a photo with a pose you like, make a quick drawing over it using boxes, then make your own drawing using what you just learned from drawing over the photo.

I'm not a fan of turn based combat anymore, so I can't comment on that, but I can say that your competition in that field seems pretty rough.

In my humble opinion, you should chose to focus on a single game engine, either pick gm or rm and get really good with one, instead of being so so on both. Since I feel the rpgmaker market is a bit crowded, and some of the competition is brutal, I would recommend focusing on gm and it's wider possibilities.

Also, I think you should exploit Lustfire's art to the max, I think you should try your hand with skeletal animation, have Lustfire make you the base character and you split it into pieces and animate it, your Dash game would probably have sold a lot better if the game itself looked as good as the cg's. I could give you a hand on this if you wish, I have a few animated characters of mine I could give you for you to study, and aid you in getting to grips with skeletal animation. And you don't have to break the bank to get good looking backgrounds, some solid drawings + some flat colors or cel shading can do wonders in making a game look professional.

In the end, I have no clue how to make a successful hentai game, in fact I'm still just posting "generally positive feedback" so I have enough posts to make my own topic and request feedback for myself, so feel free to just ignore me, but know that I would like to see you continue making games and come to realize your own potential.

Firstly, you seem to be mistaken about a few things... Dash did not sell better than my other games, it dropped behind damsel quest on week 2 after release and has continued to do worse than DQ since then despite having better art and a smaller price tag...

the reason im not working on my game maker stuff is i don't have the skill to produce the sprites id need for them, and i also dont have enough money to pay someone else to do them instead. honestly i miss coding, it helps calm me down but i've been working hard to produce the art for this game, but i don't get anywhere near as much enjoyment from producing art as i do from coding mechanics.

lastly, that you'd tell me to exploit a friend is unacceptable and is very rude to Lustfire.

I'm sorry if you think im being aggressive. though i am angry youd suggest i exploit someone. the rest seems a little misinformed, i'd be happy to hear what you have to say now ive corrected a few of the facts

edit- ah, i see you meant to use his art as a sales booster... not exploiting lustfire himself, my bad

I'm not, in any way or form, suggesting you to exploit Lustfire, maybe exploit is not the correct word, english is not my first language.

What I mean is that if you can get this awesome artwork, then you might as well use it to the most extent.

If you don't have the skills to produce sprites for your game maker projects, well, you need to work to develop them; I even offered you help into learning skeletal animation, which is a relatively easy way of getting quality work without much experience or dozens of hours of work.

Setting a skeleton in either spriter or spine takes less than half hour, and then an animation can take between a couple minutes to a couple hours depending on detail.

I even know quite a few dirty tricks when it comes to bringing spriter stuff into gamemaker with as little hassle as possible. I'm offering you this knowledge so you don't have to spend the hours it took me to find these tricks.

Again, I'm just trying to help, since you are posting about how you need your games to absolutely sell in order to continue making them.

Re: Majo - Witch RPG (rpgmaker ace wip)

I'd have finished the demo already, but i need to write the demon boss game over...also i'm not too pleased with the cg for it, but i was told it was okay when i showed the shoutbox...

in other news I'm still trying to sprite so i can get back to making game maker games, i'm really missing coding... game maker games are way more fun to make as well as to play.

Re: Majo - Witch RPG (rpgmaker ace wip)

i did the demon scene a week or so ago and i've been working hard on drawing more enemy types, we have a bunny girl boss (commissioned by a fan, so happy to have someone who likes my work so much), her scene still needs writing but she'll be in the full game. demo content is done.

i'm back on a 3 week deadline which does mean the final dungeon is gonna be smaller than i wanted but I can definitely get all the content for the earlier dungeons done in time as long as i don't get ill or suffer a huge art block.

i still need to do the enemies for the fire dungeon, and to make the east dungeon which will feature our lovely parasite ears which were second in the polls (that's where the bunny girl comes in)

here's a preview of the bunny girl

currently my rent runs out on the 21st :) so i hope you understand, this game has plenty of potential to add more content later too so i might still be able to make the huge dungeon i wanted to do

So, how long do you think it'll be until you can release it? Because I'm sure you can't afford the luxury of running out of rent.

Re: Majo - Witch RPG (rpgmaker ace wip)

Now grimoire is done with i can continue work on this game :) YAY!
today i got the demo (duplicated) censored and shipped off to dlsite with the sample images and stuff.

I still think its okay if the game requires a little bit of grinding but so far i can beat the demo with just killing only what gets in my way (on the shortest path)
didn't really have any issues with stuff like that.
