Re: Multiplayer Gaming

Technically no. It's an odd one to classify. You can play it offline (which most people do) but you can also play as the character you play as offline in an online game with friends. You even take over any levels and weapons you gained from online over to your offline game.

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

Hmm, well, I've read up on Fallen Earth, and I think it's a great concept. Problem is I have a problem with paying money to play a game I've already bought. I mean, after buying the game for 50 bucks, Ok that's cheap. I don't wanna spend 150 bucks a year playing it. And that's their cheapest offer.

I'd say it's a great idea, but please, some people wanna buy their apartment.

I'd give a damn about Fallen Earth if it wasn't still bugged to hell and didn't cost so fucking much.

Borderlands has online co-op. Not really an MMO.

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

Well, I've played Fallen Earth for a few days now, and from what I can tell, yeah, it needs some work, but it's still better than a lot of stuff out there. Not everything, but a lot.

Then again, they may just be playing to my OCD tendencies with their crafting system...

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

Oh god, there's a crafting system? I'd play that shit to DEATH. It's one of the reason's I want to get into Wyrm Online, but unsubscribed players have caps on everything. Basically it's an MMORPG WHERE YOU CAN BUILD ANYTHING. You want to start a town with some friends? You can do that.

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

I've actually heard rumors they're putting in a patch in the next month or two for FE so that you can build buildings...

Dunno if it'd be like Wyrm, though, since I don't know any specifics on the rumored patch, nor have I ever heard of Wyrm.

But yeah, the crafting is ADDICTING.

ATM, waiting on a Horse (yes, you can CRAFT a horse/vehicle), and some parts for a gun (you need to craft the gun parts, which become the components you use to craft the gun)

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

The real loser in this war will be the engineer.

And the real winners? Kritz medics and airblast pyros. And to a lesser effect dead ringer spies, who more easily get to use their cloak and have no trouble chasing slow demomen/soldiers.(Not to mention nobody bothers spychecking, they're too busy with the whole war thing)

That does sound an awful lot like Wyrm. You have to create each part of an item (for example a lock for a door) and then you have to put each component together to make the item. One magazine I'm following, PC Gamer, they started their own town with some of their readers and they had built a tunnel from the newbie town to their town through the mountains. They was making a door (you need to chop down the tree's and then craft the wood into planks and then put them together to make the door, then you need to make the hinges, lock etc...). They had the wood and stuff but they needed to make the lock. So one of the team who does the magazine was busy making the lock when someone else not part of their town found the wood and stuff piled up they made the door and lock which meant that person could walk in whenever and steal anything. When they found out about the door and lock being made there was a mad dash to get everything out of the town so that nothing would get stolen. I assume they relocated their town then.

Sucks to be them >.<

Yeah, I dunno if the buildings will be THAT complicated... then again, they haven't put anything in yet, so eh...

Preview of next patch notes says something about player-made camps.
Camps and Construction
For decades, the survivors of the Fall hid in the refuse and rubble of the world that was destroyed. Lurking beneath shelters of aluminum siding and scavenged timber, or under the bare trusses of decrepit homes and hovels, the Province inhabitants rarely leave the safety of their communities. Though many enterprising individuals have attempted to research methods of building new fortifications and settlements (whether of a permanent or temporary nature), few have met with any significant success before now.

A collection of innovators have begun visiting existing towns in the Province to share their knowledge, for a price. Though the information they sell is sketchy and makeshift at first, the foundations of their teachings pave the way for greater creations to be researched. Construction trainers have appeared in the towns of Embry Crossroads, Oilville, Sunshine Corners, New Flagstaff, Pass Chris, Dieseltown and Trader's Flat to begin spreading the word and teaching clones how to begin crafting the first bounties of the Construction tradeskill—player-made camps!

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

From the desk of Obeliskos

Dear Valve,

You are a very active and fun group. You constantly make patches for Team Fortress 2, and your updates are what keep this game alive. While I and many others appreciate your efforts, there was a class update a while back for the Scout that many people have shown disapproval for. I am one of those people. That's not to say it's all bad - the Force-a-Nature is a perfect sidegrade. It trades reliability for firepower and a significant "third jump". I have no qualms with that weapon. I feel the concept for the Sandman, but unfortunately, the recent nerf rendered it near useless. Taking away 30 HP is one thing, but now we can only stun if we manage to hit a far off target? I'll take my 125 HP back if that's what you're telling me.. regardless, it does still have its uses and there isn't much more to complain about.

The issue I'd like to address more thoroughly is none other than the Bonk! Energy Drink. This unlock is a complete joke in many parts of the Team Fortress 2 community, and for a very good reason. The simple fact that it replaces your trusty pistol is enough, but it doesn't have many overall uses. My seperate suggestions for improving the Bonk! Energy Drink follow:

  • Allow the scout to capture the enemy intelligence while under Bonk!'s effect. It would make turtling engineers feel useless if a Bonk! Scout comes in under its effect.
  • Get rid of the ability to juggle or otherwise knock around a poor Scout who thinks he's just discovered god mode. Along with this, it would be a good idea to get rid of the "hangover" effect.
  • Simply make it last longer and reduce the cooldown.
  • Make it a fourth slot so the Scout doesn't have to sacrifice his pistol.

Implementing one or more of these effects would give the Bonk! Energy Drink more use and would help the Scout's unlocks match up to the recent unlocks, such as the Soldier's almighty Direct Hit or his upgraded melee weapon, the Equalizer. Currently, the Scout's unlocks are so "meh", I've gone completely vanilla with the recent Sandman nerf. I miss using the toys, but now I realize that .

Improve the Scout. Buff his unlocks.

Thank you for reading,
A concerned Scout

Re: Multiplayer Gaming

From the Obeliskos of desk

Dear Valve,

Hi there. Not too long ago, I sent a recommendation to improve Bonk! Atomic Punch, claiming that the others were fine. I'd like to say now that I was wrong. Horribly wrong. After looking further into it, not only does the energy drink need a buff, but the Sandman either needs to be scrapped for a better idea or buffed big time. Let's take a look at the melee unlocks, shall we?

  • Soldier - Straight upgrade. You deal more damage and move faster as you receive damage.
  • Pyro - Straight upgrade. You wouldn't use melee much anyway, so the base damage nerf on non burning enemies doesn't matter much. But thanks to the Axtinguisher, the puff-n-sting tactic has sprouted and can instakill even a non-overhealed soldier.
  • Demoman - Straight upgrade. There's a very pathetic nerf in base HP, but that's easily fixed as soon as you get a kill or two, and from there, you get faster and faster and you get more and more health as you continue to rack up kills.
  • Heavy - Straight upgrade. All you sacrifice is the awesome taunt kill.
  • Medic - Straight upgrade.

Seeing a pattern here? All of the classes that have been given a new melee unlock have been given straight upgrades, forcing the class to succumb to very minor negative attribute. However, the Sandman knocks off a good 30 HP (the Scout doesn't have much health to begin with, so equipping the Sandman is a death sentence by making you the single most frail target around) and its ability has been nerfed to hell and back.

Valve, do you hate the Scout or something? Stop fucking with his unlocks and make them suck less.

Once again, thank you for reading
A concerned Scout
