What's new

Patreon's new Community Guidelines.

It may be because of my nationality, but... who gives a fuck about all those in point 2?

Fundable: Adult Oriented Material - Prohibited.
Indiegogo: Couldn't find anything specific.
Thrinacia: Seems more like a framework for crowdfunding platform.
Plumfund: Doesn't seem like it allows such, but can't find anything specific.

a.) It's Nazis b.) It's Nazis
or into being more in depth these are groups that are extremely against "degeneracy" they aren't exactly gonna be proud to be hosting pornographic content themselves.

Its really unfortunate. While I do think Patreon is just trying to protect their image for now, but it makes us realize we are building on a frail system. Time and time again companies would suggest they are for freedom of speech, and then just bending backward when they have other motive to persue. What's unforunate is that adultish gaming market is still very small, there are no alternative in the west other than Patreon. So crowdfunding site with the focus on adult theme alone won't likely to survive, offbeatr is an example perhaps. On the otherhand, we will likely to face the same situation by joining another random crowdfunding site, on top running into risk of having some random team to handle your funds.

Nazis? So super old Germans that are barely alive? I find it hard to believe.
Proud or not, who cares, their guidelines are quite clear on the topic. If you want freedom of speech, you have to learn to accept that there are people with different opinions and things they enjoy. As long as it's not against the law, silencing them is censorship, a tool used by communists, fascists, nazis and regimes. So it kinda doesn't make sense that nazis would go along with a site that wants freedom of speech.
Unless it's some new shit kids twisted those days, then I may be too old to get it.
Still, couldn't care less about Hatreon, seems like producing lewd stuff and using them would be possible only for people in US, as paypal doesn't allow nsfw.

Yeah, Patreon is well known so that already kills a lot of sites before they even start.
As soon as they get successful they start censoring, it's mostly due to who stands behind them, people owning too many shares and stuff like that... And oh boy, banks in general can put biggest pressure on many companies and this is what I assume happened to Patreon.

It's ironic how all this mess is about a page showing an extreme degree of prejudice against adult creators, but when checking second options, you show the same prejudice towards a page because of their customers (it's not like they advertise "Support your local Fuhrer here!" do they?)

Anyways, I heartily recommend all creators who receive money from patreon to keep a plan B at hand, making a project page in other sites is free, and would reduce the fear of getting outright banned one day.
And think about it, first came being banned from the search engine, now you cannot show anything nor give anything for free (nor offer a link to your blog) next comes outright suspending any project they dislike.

Well... fuck. More censorship. Patreon was such a good thing for those who want quality porn and now it is being restricted. Maybe some of the others will have to fall back on what Hreinn Games is doing: using Patreon to keep people informed and keep the links on a blog. Shit... I wonder what brought this on.

And it hurt the "small fries" more than those that should get hit.

Well, shit, the incest thing include extended family and the like, so no incest period.

A bit of news on this, I talked to DarkCrow of StudioFOW about this and he is well aware of it (as I assumed he would be). All he was willing to disclose at this time is that it's already been "taken care of". And they don't appear to have made any significant changes to their Patreon. Not going to speculate on the whys and hows, just relating the news for anyone interested in how this affects the SFM community.

So its a full on virtue signal.

Not sure which party you are referring to.

If you mean Patreon, I think it's more like they folded to pressure from their payment processors and have to make a show of "enforcing the rules". So yeah, virtue signalling.

If you mean DarkCrow, then, no. This was not some public announcement or conversation, it was a private conversation by email. They have not made any public announcement as far as I know. I'm sure he has reasons for not telling the whole story at this time. I just thought people in this community might want to know that one of the best-known content creators in the SFM community has dealt with this already.
