Re: Hate Thread

So parts created with the intention of avoiding payment from the beginning are invalid?

And in civil litigation ignorance can be used as defense? Every cop on TV says that "I didn't know it wasn't legal" isn't a legal defense in criminal cases, so I figured that would apply here as well.
Yes, thats the brief definition of a good faith clause and no, I just don't feel like explaining why your example is nonsensical, you should be able to defuse it yourself.

Re: Hate Thread

So then wouldn't an exclusivity contract or non-competition clause that didn't provide enough money for the artist to live reasonably without being able to ply their trade breach good faith?

You signed it. Your life expenses are yours not your contractors to know.

Thats the risk of investment. You could make a contract with someone that goes broke halfway through and get no money at all from 'em anymore, you still have to hold to the contracts term limits, unless you can claim an extreme change of circumstances.

Hm, if they can't uphold their part of the contract (ie paying you), wouldn't that make your obligations null and void?

Not necessarily, even then depending on wording, you could get into troubles depending on specificities of the contract breach. Sorry to shatter your optimism, but it beats getting burned. Read your contracts, always. Pacta sunt servanda, not pacta servanda est placet et gaudet. You're of 18+ years of age, if you sign a contract that ends up fucking you.. thats on you.

Alright, I'm really not qualified to be everyons lawyer, nor do I care to, so heres wikipedia for 'no you can't just ignore what stands in a contract' and contract 101 for you to read up on:

Just don't sign goddamned contracts. Fuck that illogical shit.

Which brings us around to back on topic. I hate contracts.

We live in a world where a man's word means very little. I'd rather have a contract than nothing.

Re: Hate Thread

I hate malware. I despise it. Stupid wnoyng garbage. What are you?! Why are you here?! I'm not Chinese! Stop giving me Chinese websites! Why can't I remove you?! I hate virus removal software too. It never does anything! I've tried, like, five of them and they didn't do shit.

Also, now I think I too hate contracts.

Re: Hate Thread

I used to struggle with malware like you, but then I changed my email, used a more complicated password for... everything and just stopped frequenting certain download sites. Have had like 1 issue in 3 years.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot and see if it helps. I used ccleaner earlier and it seems good so far. But it seemed that way when I used other programs too, so it might just come back after a while like it did before. God, I hate this. I have too much stuff at risk here and no place to create a backup. It's driving me nuts.
Aw man, this ubuntu shit has to be burned? Can't just install it as is? Well that's a pain. Let's hope cc did the job, so I don't have to figure this thing out.

Lucky you. I'd do the same if I even had an inkling of an idea as to which site caused it. Not that it would help, since I'm not the only one that uses this PC. Might not even be from one of my sites. Sigh. This shit happens, like, every four or five months. And it's always some Chinese bullshit. Rotten luck. Why can't technology just be simple? Why must I struggle so? Oh woe is me.

Re: Hate Thread

I hate working with people who don't know what they're doing. Tonight I had to redo half an hour of work because someone in my team doesn't know how to use OneDrive and keeps uploading new documents instead of updating old ones.

Try google drive maybe? Not as convenient or useful, but documents can be worked on in the drive itself, and it automatically backups previous versions.

And @topic, hate being interrupted when I'm in the middle of.... something ;)

CC? Are you talking about CCleaner, because that thing is NOT for malware removal. It just cleans out your temp files, internet history, and other things like that.

Actually google drive is both more convenient and more useful than OneDrive, at least from what I can see. But that doesn't help when it's a case of PEBCAK. Reverting to previous version doesn't help when someone uploads an entire new document with all their changes on that document while you've been editing the old one...

Yes. Well, whatever it's for it seems to have worked. Maybe cleaning the registry was what did it. I don't know. Either way, it's fixed. For now. Hopefully for good. I'll keep that ubuntu thing around though. Just in case. Thanks again.
EDIT: Though, now that you said that it isn't for malware removal, I'm back to being worried out of my mind again. Even though nothing is wrong yet. Dammit. Between work, depression and this shit, I'm not gonna get any rest this week, am I?
EDIT 2: Never mind. Guess it didn't work. I think it was ''fixed'' because I changed the name of firefox.exe to Mozilla Firefox.exe, so it confused it. But then it kept asking me to make Firefox my default browser so I changed it back and now the damn target location is changed again. Fuck. Guess I'll have to give that ubuntu stuff a try. I was really hoping it wouldn't come to that.
EDIT 3: I don't get it. How does this ubuntuGNOME thing help me exactly? When I boot it from the disc without installing it, it appears to just be an operating system. A very slow and ugly operating system. I thought it was a malware removal software. I can't go around installing a whole different system on this PC. At that point I might as well just reinstall my current setup. Which I was hoping to avoid. Since that never goes well. There's always some issue. Either I can't find the drivers or some program that used to work suddenly doesn't. Sigh. Damn you, technology. Why can't you be easy?
Oh well. Thanks for the help anyway. I guess I'll just have to live with this for now. And if it gets worse then I'll just reinstall everything.

Exactly, even most viruses avoid it.

Sometimes a tabula rasa can help your computer go ahead stronger again too so its not all bad... unless you got vital data on it, but then, thats what usb/external drives are for.
Heck, I once had to tear out a harddrive, put it into an adapter and suckle the data from it into an alternate computer, -that- wasn't fun.

If it's slow, that's only because you're booting from Live-DVD(or Live-USB). In actual use, it's faster than Windows. And using Linux would mean pretty much never having to worry about malware again. Oh, and most drivers are included right in the kernel, unlike with Windows, so no need to worry about those, either(well, except some wireless cards and you might need to install proprietary drivers if you use Nvidia GPU).

This.
And as a little addition, some distros let you install to hard drive from live cd/usb.
Some live usb ones let you save settings/storage in encrypted space on your usb stick.

It can work as a means of connecting to random WiFi for protection or having encrypted copy of your OS which you can take anywhere.
Same can be done with some windows versions.
Heck, there are even distros that are packed with utilities to... ehm, check and "test" for different vulnerabilities :D
It's easier to list what you want/need from OS and find exactly or almost exactly that rather than checking out different ones :p

Huh? Mystic girl? What? I hate that, liked previous one better... I just can't remember what it was xD

It just looks and feels wrong. I prefer Windows. Anyway, not my PC so I can't go around installing different OSs on it. Plus, like I said, I'm trying to avoid a full re-installation. I guess I'll just have to deal with it until it gets worse and I inevitably have to reinstall Windows again. Besides, knowing my luck I'd probably get something on that other OS anyway. Wish you would've told me it was an OS before I wasted a disc though. XD
Sigh. If you do happen to run into some new, godlike, and free malware removal software that can magically remove everything bad from my PC and stop my Browser target location from changing every time I fix it, and maybe also make me a muffin while it's at it, then please, let me know. :p Otherwise, thanks for your help. I appreciate the effort.
