Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

The Mouther screamed in pain as it finally got a grip on Fey, and got a third degree burn for its trouble, it let go almost immediately giving of an angry his before it started to wiggle again and let loose another confusion inducing scream this time directed directly at Fey, though whether it would actually work would be anyone's guess considering Fey's mind worked differently than a normal, human, shat did not stop ot from changing it's focus to Korrie though, as the blast at it's flank had it surge back to get out of the fiery jet, though as soon as it ended it immediately struck out against the Wyvern girl, with the first order of business being to gag her the moment it got a hold of her to stop her from breathing more flames.

Having learned the painful lesson about trying to grab Fey the Mouther changed tactics on fey, instead picking up globs of softened mud-like rock and tossing it at Fey, causing it to harden back to stone on impact in an attempt to encase her in a cocoon of stone, so that it could grab her without having to worry about the flames, it was going to snack on these two painful little meals then it was going to go after their friends, one of the many mouths that still had teeth started to drool in premature anticipation even as it kept bombarding Fey with the liquefied stone to enact it's surprisingly clever plan.

The symbols from Shiroi arrived just in time to save Erfek as they caused an angry yelp from the hound as it was forced back, there was no arcs of energy tossing it about, however, probably because of it's lack of physical form to actually push back, though if the sound had been any indication the seals had still stung the hound enough to dissuade any future attempts at getting at the Zoog and knocked out Aya "Th-thanks, I'll see about reviving Lady Aya, you take care of that thing!" the Zoog started to rummage around in it's backpack again and took out the health fruits from earlier and s then gently opened Ayas mouth to squeeze juice from it into her mouth.

The Hound on the other hand now turned it's focus to the twins, just in time to eat Shiroi's Gae Bulga, the impact sent the hound flying into the wall and it let out a howl of pain, as two glowing dots appeared where the eyes should be, the impact had clearly hurt the Hound, and pissed it off as it surged toward Kuroi, phasing straight through the pear as if it wasn't even there before it rammed into her as well, though the force of the impact was far less than when it had hit Aya, the Gae Bulga had clearly hurt the hound, whose incorporeal form usually protected it from harm.

Upon seeing Kuroi getting hit Erfek called out to her "Physical weapons are pointless, think of it as a ghost that are only physical where it hits you, you need to enact an enchantment that allows you to touch that which has no form!" he called out just as Aya started to stir weakly, he quickly got back to administering the juice, so that she could join the fray again as soon as possible.

((Going back to bed now hopefully you are still enjoying it despite my sub-par posts , my own opinion there))

The problem with Feys mind wasn't that she was abnormal, at least, from her perspective. "Huh?" Was Feys reaction at the confusion blast. "Stop shouting, we're in a library, its not nice. or at least we are going for a library. Here, look what happens when everyone shouts. WOOOOOOOO!" Fey screamed a stream of fire at the Gibbering creature in retaliation, barely missing a beat with her confusion. "Whats going on exactly? So I'm a phoenix, theres some weird nude dragon-girl, oh I think her name was Aya or something and.." The creature might have disabled Fey if it had ever stopped attacking her. As priorly mentioned, Feys mind wasn't abnormal.. just simple. Were others had a moral compass, she had a stove.

"What are we playing slugball now?" Fey extended a hand, to blast the projectile thrown at her and melt it away, only to find it splash on her hand and harden. "Hey this is just like on the vulcano. are we under the vulcano? Nah." She tipped her chin, watching the rock.. glowing hot by her flames but just melting out of that would take a while. "Eh." She shrugged, raising her fists, which seemed almost identical to giant wings of flame.

"I dun get whats going on but.." *Splat* "I'm a phoenix and you" *splat* ".. are not fireproof.. will you stop throwing these annoying stones at me?" Fey growled, her body turning part fire, half melting away, half stepping through the melty stones, simply deciding to flap her wings into the air and jump at the creature to avoid the ground, the confusion helping her in believing she was a literal flying phoenix in the end, cracking a fiery wing-knuckle. "Feeeeyyy.. 3000° Bitchslap!" She shouted, slapping at the mouther with a fiery hand.. that likely wasn't as hot as she claimed, but neither was it pleasant, Korrie herself had to avoid getting all too close to the now a lot less harmlessly on fire phoenixgirl with any non-scaley bits of hers.

"You want a piece of me? Go ahead, I'm literal fire, you... " she struggled for a moment, trying to define the creature. ".. mother in law you."

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

Korrie winced and covered her ears when the Mouther shrieked again, bracing for whatever wave of confusion would crash into her mind, but to her surprise there was none, other than some mild dizziness. It looks like rather than requiring close distance, the confusion waves are directional instead. Best to stay opposite to Fey so the beast can’t get them both at the same time then, though she’s already sort of doing that.

More importantly, the wyvern looked worriedly at Fey who had been struck head-on by the Mouther’s shriek. She wasn’t sure how the fire elemental would react, but to her relief she hadn’t been affected that badly, not enough to stop her attack or go into some sort of panicked frenzy. The wyvern didn’t have time to remind Fey what’s going on though, nor really help her with the rock-throwing problem (she’s sure the phoenix can find some fiery solution anyway) as the Mouther chose to switch targets as soon as she ran out of breath. Korrie would try to shield herself with her wings and slash at the tendrils whenever she could, putting up a decent defense unless the pseudopods could stick to her scales or the creature grows wise and attacks her ankles where her focus is weak, in which case it’d be able to successfully trip her over before a burst of fire around the constricted area frees her from its grip. It’d still leave her disoriented though, so it’d be up to Fey’s fiery fisticuffs to keep the Mouther from taking advantage of the opening.

Meanwhile, Shiroi smirked as her elder signs forced the Hound back and her eldritch spear smashed into it regardless of its non-physical state. “Not so tough now, are ya?” She grinned, charging more energy into her palms to keep up the barrage, until her sister tried to help and jabbed the spear at the ghostly beast. She failed.

Kuroi cried out in pain and terror when the Hound pounced her, knocked to the ground before her protective sister unleashed another Gae Bulga at the monster with a furious roar and charged at it, an energy claymore formed in her hands, driven by anger to take a more hands-on approach in smashing the thing. Kuroi herself meanwhile struggled to her feet, her belly and behind aching quite a bit from the impact and subsequent landing, but at least she’s not unconscious like Aya. The raven-haired sibling dejectedly pondered what went wrong, but Erfek helpfully sped up the process. The problem might not be that she can’t enchant objects like that, but that her spear simply couldn’t stab the Hound in the first place, and thus couldn’t activate the enchantment. In that case…

Deactivating her first prompt to make room for another, Kuroi tries to alter the enchantment. ‘Damages non-physical things’, not the most eloquent way to put it but the meaning is clear and she’s short on time. Processing the new code, Kuroi waits for an opening and tries to stab the Hound from a blindspot while it’s occupied with Shiroi.

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

The Mouther kept up it's bombardment in order to keep Fey distracted, thought as she went airborne the Mouther seemed unimpressed as it just kept tossing the rocky mud at her as it's main focus was on Korrie whom it was trying to get to grips with, the fleshy blob eagerly grabbing at Korries legs as it noticed the weakened defense at the legs and quickly yoinked her off her feet and into the air, just in time to eat Fey's slap, which caused the tentacles to constrict Korrie rather fiercely and painfully by reflex, though not hard enough to cause permanent damage, it would heal and with proper treatment, heal fast.

The Mouther let out a guttural howl of pain and rage so loud even the Hound paused momentarily in it's dogged pursuit of it's prey to wince at the noise and made Efkrek pause in it's revival attempt to cover its ears to block out the sound.
The Mouther took the opportunity given to it and Fey would pay for her punch as the nearest mouth gave her a nasty bite where she had punched the Mouther, drawing blood which dripped onto the Mouther itself and was immediately absorbed seemingly invigorating the blob as it started to gnaw at every piece of Fey it could reach with near fanatical abandon, while also bringing Korrie much closer to Fey, undoubtedly for the same treatment while simultaneously using her as a hostage to prevent Fey from just releasing a nova of fire again.

Fey would also find moving around while not stepping on the mass of gnashing teeth and eyes pretty hard because the stone would be like stepping into waist deep mud effectively making her speed non existent unless she managed to keep herself flying, which would be difficult to do given the limited space so close to the monstrosity.

Korrie would also find that the Mouther had not forgotten about her either and she would find herself gagged by a fleshy pseudopod at the first opportunity effectively stopping her from trying to burn the thing as it started to move the captured dragon-girl towards Fey in an attempt to try and stop her from using any large scale fire attacks against it, that being said the drooling of the mouths and hungry stares made it pretty clear that it intended to make a meal out of her unless she gout out FAST.

The howl from the Mouther would allow Shiroi to close the distance and slam the Hound once more causing it to stagger backwards, blue goop was now dripping from its incorporeal form down onto the floor, it was clearly hurt and if the sounds it was making was any indication it was now considering itself cornered, When Shiroi snuck up on it and stabbed she would find her spear inpacting with... something and a spary of blue Goop would hit her in the face followed by another howl of pain as it extracted itself from the spear tip with an angry hiss, however fortune now took a turn for the worse as the spell that Aya had put on it suddenly winked out leavingo nly the dripping from the hounds wounds as an indication to where it might be.

Shiroi would hardly have any time to react at all before the bloodtrail rapidly approachign would warn her that the hound had decided to target her first, clearly viewing the magical attacks as the bigger threat, unless she dove out of the way immediately she would find herself blasted backwards as if hit by a truck and sent flying into the wall, the impact would not cause any real harm, as the Hound haf been too weakened to get full power behind the charge, but it still had enough force to stun the girl leaving her dazed and reeling.

If it missed the blood trail would slowly back away from the girls into the nearest corner, the growling sounds from the invisible foe a clear warning to stay back as it did so and if the girls pursued the Hound would simply vanish leaving no trace behind it was even there, it's self preservation instinct winning over it's need to hunt.

(( I LIVE, sorry for the delay, in my week long of bad stuff the condition of the apartment went from tidy as can be to messed up as hell and I spent most of today cleaning the resulting pig sty))

Fey cracked her jaw slightly, smirking at the creature. "What was that, I dun speak nonsense, but I think you said 'thank you miss Fey, may I have another?'" She licked her lips, kinda having forgotten about her surroundings, and Korrie, after the insanity blast. It's howling, up close, was deafening.. but like the rest of her, Feys hearing recovered quickly.

She looked at the creature biting her arm, before she could slap it around some more, chuckling slightly. "OW! That thing bit me... Tzk.. well well, lookie there, dentists worst nightmare trying to eat me. Good you have so many mouths, if it was just one it'd be too easy." Fey sighed inwardly, looking over to Korrie, barely aware enough not to burn both her and the mouther as she reached back, eyeing the gnashing maws, pulling out the Yoggoth pepper, rubbing it in slow, circular motions. That fruit was bad enough when ingested normally, but Fey could still charge it up to explode with a little delay, which was exactly what she did, whilest also covering the pepper with just a bit of blood from her arm to trick the beast. If the creature was so hungry for something to bite.. she'd give it that. And then, with a flick of her wrist, she tossed the pepper into the nearest gnashing, hungry maw. "Here, yum yum!" If the taste alone didn't.. disable the creature, the soon to be exploding eldritch fruit would cause indubitable internal harm.. to whatever internal things this kind of creature had. Plus, it'd make it hard to simply spit the pepper back out.

"Things I do for people. I deserve a medal for sacrificing this treat." She decided, flexing her arm, the bitemark beginning to smoke as she focused on regeneration in the dream. "Oh, right, almost forgot, we propably want to take cover soon." She remarked, her hands lighting up in fire as she reached out to the tentacles holding Korrie, brought closer to her for her convenience, herself entirely uncaring if the mouther got a bite or two more out of her.. given time, she could regenerate from these, plus, "Things are gonna take an explosive turn soon. Take cover behind me perhaps. Unless you like burning. You should. Burning is awesome." She suggested, still seeming a bit... out of it, to say the least. "Can we get MC Donalds on the way back? I'm feeling kinda hungry and they got a good spicy sauce.

What about you lot? Do we bring the Tinderbox hound along as pet? We lack a puppy in our pet-entoura.. enrage.. ontour... our group!"
She suggested, struggling with moving much in the oddly muddy ground, having forgotten to think phoenix thoughts after her brain came up with the pepper-idea and was thus, occupied for a large part.

(Yay for the living! Hope yous better.)

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

The poor wyvern yelped as she was pulled off her feet into the air, cursing herself for not being careful enough, before she winced and grunted from the sudden constriction, and then cried out in pain herself when the point blank howl actually deafened her temporarily. Well that was an unfortunate sequence of events. No time to complain though, as another pseudopod quickly stuffed her mouth while she was disoriented, stopping her from voicing objection in the form of words nor flame. Now, normally she wouldn’t object very much to tentacles in her mouth, but this thing was just gross and clearly wanted to do very painful things to her so Korrie was having none of it. Attempting to bite down on the thing gagging her, her teeth quickly changed into searing metal to aid the process while fiery spikes jutted out from where her leg was caught, hoping to force it to release her quickly. As spectacular as her sister-pet she may not be, but she’s quickly getting the hang of the power of imagination in the Dreamlands.

Then she saw Fey throw an eldritch pepper into one of the beast’s maws, after charging it with explosive power no less. …Now she almost felt sorry for the thing, there’s no way something like that will end well for it, nor for her if she doesn’t get away from it fast! Thanks to the phoenix and her own efforts that wouldn’t take too long, and as soon as she’s free, the wyvern tried her best to trudge through the bog and get away from the imminent explosion after giving Fey a quick thanks, backing away so she could shield herself with her scaly wings if need be. Unfortunately she couldn't really hear anything the phoenix was saying, what with the condition of her eardrums after the monster's shriek.

In the meantime, the Mouther’s howl interrupted Shiroi’s duel with the Hound before it had barely begun, making all three of the combatants wince, Kuroi having to cover up her ears. The enraged older sister took the chance though and smashed the dog with her blade, unable to kill it but still wounding it grievously, and the ravenette’s follow-up only made things worse for the beast. Kuroi yelped as blue blood splattered onto her face and she backed off, trying to wipe the stuff off of herself, while Shiroi kept eyes on the bleeding wound still visible and sidestepped the charge, attempting to smash the sword down on the Hound but missing her attack. Both siblings watched apprehensively as the invisible beast retreated to a corner, waiting for its next move… and then it was gone.

It… left?” Kuroi blinked, a little surprised their foe had retreated.

Looks like it, smart move.” Shiroi remarked, covering the corner with a barrage of elder signs just for good measure before turning towards the remaining foe. “That leaves the Mouther then. Let’s get this over with and keep going before even more monsters pop out of the woodwork.” She said as she charged up another energy spear to provide ranged support, but the explosion would happen before she gets the chance. What happens after would depend on the Mouther’s condition after an internal attack like that.

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

The Mouther consumed the pepper with a huge gnashing sound as Fey tossed it into one of it's countless mouths, the result was almost immediate, Fey and Korrie was flung away as the beast let out a howl so loud that the previous scream would seem pretty damn low in comparison as the thing surged forward down the tunnel, it's pseudopods flailing wildly as it screamed out it's torment, steam rising wildly from most of it's mouths and that was before the explosion happened.
Once the pepper detonated the scream changed to an ear piercing pitch and the steam turned to literal smoke as the Mouther hit the nearest wall dead on but just continued forward as the wall itself turned gooey to allow the panicked and pain-stricken Mouther to continue on, soon after the wall reset into rock signalling that the Mouther had disappeared, even so it's voice kept on echoing throughout the area for quite a while yet with painful intensity preventing anyone from trying to give chase.

Fey and Korrie would luckily be thrown away far enough to not land in the muddy rock before it set back into stone though residue of the stuff would cover the areas of their bodies that had skirted the area as they landed and it would quickly harden and then fall off to the ground as the Mouther disappeared out of the area and it's ability to maintain the soggy stone disappeared as a result.

Shortly after the noise finally died down, leaving the group in an eerie ponderous half darkness as the light crystals had been scattered all over the place in the resulting fighting, there was finally movement from inside the barrier that the twins had erected Damn, remind me to strengthen the wards against focused impacts" Aya slowly rose to her feet and staggered out of the seal circle with Erfek fretting over her by skipping circles around her legs insisting that she take it slowly, Aya for her part smiled weakly down to the Zoog "Oh, I have had worse, much worse, don't worry about me I am fine" she made her way over to the twins and looked them over, seeing them both relatively unharmed she patted them both on their shoulders "Good work you two I take it you managed to deal with the Hound, considering we are all still alive and all that" she smiled weakly even as she packed away the book she had been using earlier to identify the Mouther. She looked over to Fey and Korrie and staggered her way over to them "Are you two OK?" she asked her voice a bit hoarse after the air had been blasted from her lungs but seemed otherwise quite well.

((Not much in terms of content I fear, but then it's literally the aftermath of the fight so that is to be expected I guess?))

"They're not that hot. Wuss! Yikess.." Fey covered her ears, even her regeneration enduring metabolism couldn't deal with this without a few minutes of ringing in her ears.

"Ughhh.." She watched the creatures smoking retreat with a half grin though. That was -almost- worth the pepper-sacrifice she had made, rubbing her back as it healed from slamming into a wall and her ears recovered from the screaming, she still keeping her fingers in there for a while, creating fire letters infront of her instead: Gee, that was loud eh?

"Well, it was a phay..
phyrrri.. rrriiii .. It was a sad victory, but we did it. That'll teach the mouthie thing to try 'n eat Super Fey."
She nodded sagely, flexing. "I'll be all healed up in a few moments. Hey, random idea, lets wander on quickly before more of these weird things show up." She grinned. "Admittedly, that was fun, but one of those a day is enough. That village thingie is more fortified against these beasties yeah?" She asked hopefully, flexing, continuing on the way if none stopped her, seeming more concerned about the loss of the pepper than the dangerous creatures they had just battled with.

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

Before the two apprentices could get a hit in, the pepper took its toll. Korrie yelped as she was flung into a wall, but the ensuing wail of torment from the creature didn’t really hurt that bad despite her proximity, not as much as it was hurting the sisters who were hunched over with their hands on their ears and almost crying out in pain themselves. The reason was pretty obvious once a little trickle of red started leaking from her ears. The wyvern was stunned nonetheless, and none present could do anything before the Mouther fled, alive, but hopefully in no condition to cause anyone trouble for a long time.

Eventually, the sweet relief of silence came, and it was a while before either sisters spoke, content to just bask in the lack of unearthly shrieking. Even unconscious, Aya’s timing was impeccable as well, as the handler awoke soon after, the pet wyvern noticing and immediately bounding up to help support her and check that she’s alright.

The hound got away, but not before we landed some good hits. I doubt it’ll be looking for a round 2 any time soon.” Shiroi answered, the power and fury fading quickly now that no opponents remained, though her halo of elder signs stayed. “As for the Mouther, Fey took it out with pepper of all things, ran through the walls screaming the whole way. With any luck, it’ll keep drawing attention away from us, but we should probably start moving all the same.

Korrie’s fine, mostly, but Korrie might need some healing…” The wyvern remarked afterwards, examining a bit of blood she dabbed from her ears worriedly after noticing the distinct lack of sound she was perceiving. It was nothing serious with a skilled witch around to heal her of course, but it still kinda sucked being deaf. “Wait, Fey, we should make sure we’re all ready first!” She called out as well, prioritizing the wellbeing of her handler as expected.

Regardless, once Aya gave the go ahead, the previous arrangements would resume, Korrie taking the lead (on two legs, the tense battles didn’t leave her in too playful a mood) with her sister-pet while the two apprentices took the rear, Shiroi leaving behind wards every now and then again. Kuroi had decided to keep her enchanted spear, inspecting it rather reverently. Now that the adrenaline’s wearing off, she had more time to marvel on her own achievement. It had actually worked, she had given an item supernatural properties with her prompts! Despite possibly being the physically weakest of the group now that her sister has regained her vigor and far beyond, she might actually be able to help now! And who knows, maybe her prompts can do something about her physical power too, though experimenting on herself was something she wasn’t too keen to try. One step at a time…

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

Aya motioned for Erfek to take a look at Korrie while Aya herself looked Fey and the twins over, checking for any internal injuries in just in case, as she found none she smiled a bit wider "You three will be fine, you did great work there, I am proud of you, also way to prove Fey right, I suppose" she gave a weak chuckle that became a cough, causing here to look slightly annoyed for a moment before she started to pet Fey as a reward for a job well done.
"Don't feel sad, Fey, I will personally insist you get two peppers once Mistress wakes up as a reward for your valiant sacrifice and great work" she said gently giving the Phoenix another pat before she too went to check on Korrie, which in turn caused Erfek to bounce over to Fey to see if she was alright too "I must admit that was a rather scary display of skill, but what in the world did you do to it?" it asked clearly interested in how fey had managed to send the Mouther into a terrorized frenzy like that, the Zoog looking up at her with a genuinely interested expression as it pulled out a notebook of some kind and made ready to take notes of Fey's explanation.

Aya for her part would carefully help Korrie on her feet, Erfek would have given her a bit of the fruit of healing but her ears would still be smarting "Alright Korrie stand still for a bit" Aya put her hands on both of Korries ears and started to chant softly, causing a soft teal glow to envelop them as the wounded eardrums slowly started to heal themselves, it was a rather slow going and once Aya was done she swayed visibly. "Healing spells have never been my strong suit I fear, pray I never need to treat grievous injuries that way or I am likely to not make it" she gave Korrie a lowing tussle through her hair "You did good, Korrie nice work"

She gave Korrie a few pats before she returned her attention to the twins, which had been dragged into Erfeks questions as well and who were busy taking all manner of notes and asking questions about the fight left and right, anything from prior experience to the feel of impact of the monster in question "Thank you all three for your help with this, this will be useful information for all zoogkind" it said as it finished, it's tendril mustache twitching excitedly, the Zoog seemed quite ecstatic at the prospect.

Aya joined in at that point, lifting Erfek up and dropping him on her shoulders "Don't get ahead of yourself, furry-one you still have duties before you go to publish a book like that" she gave the Zoog a friendly pat as well "You are of course correct, but I simply couldn't contain myself" the Zoog started to explain but was gently silenced by Aya "No need to explain I can understand the sentiment" she turned her focus back on the twins as she absentmindedly scratched the Zoog behind it's ears.

"Great work you two, not many can take on a Hound and live, fewer still can do it without loosing a limb or two, you are wither extremely lucky, or extremely skilled, I suspect a mix of the two myself, but great work non-the-less" She gave the twins a bright smile "Mistress would be proud of you, I am sure" she gave them both a cat on the shoulder, wouldn't do to pet the apprentices like pets, after all, not yet, anyway.

Once everyone had received a final once-over by Aya she motioned for the group to move out once more in the same formation as before, though after the rather spectacular, not to mention loud, end to the fight it was unlikely that they would be facing anything else until they arrived on the other side of the tunnel, at least Aya hoped so.

"'Oh right ok.." She mused, flexing. "Yep, Peppered it up did I. Thing kept trying to eat me, serves it right!" She nodded. .. to all that could properly hear her. "Yay! Hah!.. wait.. two peppers? Yaaaaaaaaaay!" She cheered, her cloak of flames dancing warmly and excitedly, nuzzling a bit to the pat pattings and puffing up her chest happily. Whilest she wasn't unscratched she healed quickly, perhaps even more so in the dream.

"Well, it's simple." She raised a finger at Erfek. "I simply focus my flame control ability into a small object, causing a focused ignition which causes an exothermic chain reaction in which the enthalpy of the reaction is very heavily on the products side, but with no way to expell the excess energy it is instead released in one focused blast. It works best on dense, small objects, but anything about the size of the palm of my hand works. In this case, I used the Joghurt pepper. Considering it was all bitey biting all the time.. well, guess it couldn't take the heat. I dunno what the dentist-monsters insides look like, well now it got what was coming for messing with the Awesome Phoenix girl. Yey!" She shrugnodded. "I don't like using it because, well, it needs a moment of setup, so intelligent opponents will get weary and basically it turns things into bombs and I have no control over it going off. It's not as damaging as my direct flame control either, but it is a way for dealing with things that are fire immune.. plus, eating an explosive is bound to give you a bad time all around." She nodded, sagely.

Fey explained, luckily helping her over most of Ayas spellcasting, impatiently hopping up and down nonetheless. "Yeah, just throw a pepper in the dentist-thingies mouth and you'll be good to go. Invisible doggies. uh.. hit 'em hard with eldritch smackings. Oh! And for fire-vampire things, just whoop the spheres, but make sure it can't burn ya." She nodded.

Fey continued on down the tunnel, seeming, overall, in pretty good mood after the fight, occasionally twirling a finger and creating little arrows and circles of fire in the air.. anything more trying to jump them was likely to get a first hand introduction to Feys fires before getting closer.

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

Korrie gladly took a bite out of the fruit of healing, though it took a little more than that to heal her ruptured ear drums. The pet wyvern winced a little at first, but relief replaced the pain gradually, only for it too to be replaced with concern when Aya faltered, Korrie moving quickly to support her handler. Despite the petting, she didn’t look too happy with herself. She had allowed herself to get hurt afterall and made her handler exert herself healing her. Sure it wasn’t really her fault she was struck with the sonic screech, and unlike Fey she lacked any self-regeneration abilities, but she’d still rather have gotten out of that unscathed, more so for Aya’s sake than her own. She’ll have to be more careful from now on…

The twins meanwhile answered whatever questions the Zoog had for them (after listening to a surprisingly coherent recount of the Mouther’s defeat by the phoenix), telling him what they did during the fight, from smashing the Mouther’s teeth in to bypassing the Hound’s incorporeality with magic attacks, how elder signs only irritated it and how wounds weakened it significantly. Shiroi was clearly enjoying being in the limelight, proud of what she managed to do with her cured body against a dreaded Hound of Tindalos, while Kuroi kept herself to a few supporting remarks, shy as always, and rather thoughtful as she continued to contemplate the full potential of her power.

I’d sum it up as us having the right powers for the job.” Shiroi shrugged with a small grin as Aya addressed them. “Just like how Fey was perfectly suited to fighting the Fire Vampire, I was perfectly equipped for the Hound. I guess that means we did get pretty lucky with the match-ups.” She remarked. The albino took the shoulder pat in stride, congratulations on a job well done, though the raven-haired sibling, ever so secretly, wished she’d gotten a petting instead.

Once ready, the group marched on same as before, hoping they won’t run into another attack, but prepared for one regardless. To think they haven’t even reached the Hills yet, where even more danger lurked…

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

Aya watched silently as Erfek took his notes, more importantly, however she noticed the mood of everyone there, including Korrie's rather gloomy one, she walked over and whispered to her "Now now dear, no need to be so glum, you did an admirable job considering we were jumped by not one, not two but three exceedingly dangerous creatures all in a row, we are actually lucky we didn't take any serious injuries in this fight" she gave Korrie's head another reassuring rub and a gentle smile.

Erfek on his part had stated to dig through his bag again and took out a normal pepper for Fey to enjoy as an immediate snack, she had given up her own after all and while she had been promised two later on Erfek, being a business Zoog, would be remiss if he let one of his companions do a job well done without showing his appreciation and since the others seemed busy with their own thing Fey was the obvious candidate, besides he did feel a bit bad about what he did earlier.

The trip through the tunnel continued for a good while yet, though no new threats materialized itself, apparently the Mouther's cacophonous departure had served to ward off further threats along the way.

However, in the distance the group would be able to hear the sound of rushing water, which would soon open up into a great underground waterfall which would cross past the tunnel itself, the waterfall disappeared into the darkness outside the light given off by Fey and the light stones before it eventually flattened out and continued on, though that effectively caused a huge chasm across their path with only a small stone stone arch bridging the gap, if Fey shot a fireball downwards into the pit it would go out before revealing the bottom.

As they neared Aya stopped the group once more "I do not trust the bridge at all" she started to rummage through her bag and pulled out a thin pale rope and made a gesture over it, the rope immediately sprang to life and started to coil itself around the group tying them together "Better safe than sorry" she said as she turned back towards the bridge. One at a time, Fey first, Korrie you are last, you both have wings and so can at worst glide if push comes to pull and if so having you on each end would balance out the fall instead of sending the two of you plummeting because you are to close to one another"

With that she waited for Fey to lead the group onward across the bridge as it crossed chasm bellow.

((Well time to roll that die again, let's hope the rolls are good ones, fore reasons I think you can guess))

"I think we all could use a nap." Fey mused after Ayas exertion, only to hesitate. "Wait, would that work? How does that work.." She pondered. "I kicked it in its balls!" She added, accurately but not overly helpful perhaps at how to fight a Fire-vampire, giving a thumbs up and munching her pepper relaxedly. "So, yous a fruit-trader eh?" She cheerfully remarked at the Zoogs continued supply of munchables, wandering on through the corridor and musing:

"We really ought to get you some special attacks Korrie. Like the Korrie Claw or the Dragon Spin." Fey suggested, before they happened about the chasm and the thin bridge. "Oh oh, if theres any fire-demons chasing after us, I'll handle them." She nodded at the bridge, then eeeped a bit at the sudden rope-coiling, adjusting her flames in case the rope wasn't flame-retardant.

"Ook got it. Onto the bridge we march, yay!" Fey advanced, with a bit too much speed to be quite comfortable to behold, clearly having a low danger treshhold moreso with her flight. "Thinking about it, I'm the fiery one.. beware of old men with big staffs." She adviced, balancing the bridge cheerfully.

(rolled a 1! Excuse the delay, busy busy!)

The extra petting managed to cheer Korrie up, putting a little smile and a faint blush back on her face. She still wished she could’ve done better and aspired to do so in the future of course, but maybe she didn’t have to be so glum about it.

For a while the group found refreshing peace as no more challengers appeared before them, until the sound of running water joined the footsteps and occasional talking, soon revealing the underground waterfall, as well as the bottomless chasm it flowed into. Korrie took one careful look into the abyss and backed off in a hurry, while Kuroi didn’t dare look in the first place.

While I agree that trusting the bridge is a bad idea, aren’t you forgetting something?” Shiroi remarked with a wry little smirk upon mention of Aya’s plan, sprouting and spreading wide her energy wings a beat after, hopping off the ground and just hovering there. “Just let Fey or Korrie fly you over, no need to use the arch at all. Come on sis, climb- Sis?

The albino wasn’t sure what her sibling was drawing on the floor, until the magical ‘artist’ rendered the flat disk and wrote a ‘Hover’ prompt on it, effectively creating a hoverboard. Unfortunately, her attempts at controlling the board and maintaining balance on it was quite a bit less successful.

…I think you should just let me fly you over, sis.
…Yeah.

Unless Aya has any protests, Shiroi would fly her sister over to the other side first before returning to help whoever needs it. As for Korrie, while she normally isn’t that good a flyer, relying more on gliding usually, it wouldn’t take her long to improve her take-off in the dream world. Her handler would simply have to choose which pet to ride.

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

Erfek picked up its bag again and made sure it was fastened securely "Fruits, Veggies, Herbs, Meats, Fish, and so on, if it's edible or used for seasoning I probably sell it, I guess you could say I sell foodstuffs to be efficient about it" the Zoog said as it scratched it's tentacle mustache with a pondering expression, "I have enough food stuffed in this here bag to feed a small army, best part is that the food keep jsut as fresh as when I put it inside so no danger of things spoiling" the Zoog seemed pretty proud of it's achievement which was understandable considering how much gathering trading and hunting had to go into gathering that amount of merchandise, The Zoog was too small for the rope so it instead added it between itself and the bag, effectively danging from the rope using the bag once the rope tightened.

Just as the twins were about to fly over Aya stopped them in their tracks using the rope "As much as I appreciate the sentiment, flying across would carry several other risks, one of which would be all but guaranteed, observe" Aya cast the same spell she had used against the hound to mark it, but this time aimed it up towards where the waterfall were coming from, revealing several lines of glowing outlines, a giant web and more importantly a startled and clearly disappointed spider about the size of a bear, but with a disturbingly human looking face "Leng Spiders love places such as this for their webs" she explained as the purple glow slowly died out "We have just gotten out of one fight and I would prefer if we did not end up in another, besides, worst case scenario getting stuck in that web would cause you to dangle over the pit with no way to be rescued aside from dropping you into the abyss bellow" she shot Fey a glance that told her that if she tried to fry the web she would be in a world of trouble, the last thing they needed was for the spider she knew about and who knew how many others descending from above because they had been agitated.

Erfek had stiffened up at the sight of the Leng Spider but had recovered again rather quickly once it was obvious the thing was content at staying above. "True, Leng spiders like to make their webs in dark and cold places such as this, but I didn't expect to see one this far south, usually they keep to the Plateau or the Underworld can't see how it got here unless..." he looked over the edge of the bridge "Unless that drop is much further than I would like to admit" it said as it swung itself over so it was lying on top of the rope rather than dangling bellow it as Fey started her trip across.

Aya followed after Fey and Erfek as the rope had coiled itself so Fey was first while the twins and Korrie had been the last to be tied up since they had tried to fly rather than allowing the rope to tie them together with the twins following and Korrie at the end, the trip across was going fine up until about the halfway point, when Feys feet would step onto something cold and slippery, ice on the bridge itself, which, unless Fey managed to keep her balance by some extreme miracle would find the Phoenix Girl tumbling over the side with Aya grabbing the rope with both hands and leaning to the opposite side to prevent the others from being dragged off immediately "Kuroid if you could make one of those levitation disks and send it down to Fey... that would be... nice" from Ayas strained voice it was clear that she wouldn't be able to keep it up much longer given her current condition.

Fey for her part would find herself joined by Erfek who had slid down the rope as it went from horizontal to vertical "Well this is... inconvenient, may I request that you refrain from going "Firebird" as I would prefer not to be scorched?" the Zoog mumbled even as it looked down at Fey with a rather incredulous and pleading expression, clearly hoping that Fey were not prone to panic attacks involving fire, a valid assumption since the Zoog did not know Fey as well as the others did.

((Roll results, Fey rolled a Critical Failure, soo yeah, Korrie passed, as a 5 or 6 would have you plummet off one side, 1 or 2 the other :p))

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

A bottomless bag that keeps items in stasis too? Now isn’t that a nice trinket to have.” Shiroi remarked offhand, quite impressed with the little merchant’s item and wondering if she could one day make something similar of her own. Kuroi in particular already felt the urge to try making a bottomless box version using her coding, though she’d definitely have to work on longevity for it to be practical.

The two were stopped before they could really take flight, and followed the witch’s spell up to the ceiling, recoiling with cries of horror and disgust at the thing that had somehow escaped their senses previously. Korrie too cringed and stepped back upon seeing the bear-sized spider, reminded of a certain ‘trusty’ half-spider, only uglier, and she’s pretty sure this one was less interested in deceptive treachery than just devouring them. Shiroi herself was very tempted to blast the abomination with another eldritch lance, but hesitated. If Aya’s not telling them to just smite the thing and its web and resume their flight plan, it’s probably a bad idea to do so. Kuroi was more just shivering at the thought that she almost got caught by THAT thing.

With Aya’s plan now unanimously approved (Shiroi thought of perhaps flying under the bridge instead of over, but at this point she’s just going to go along with it), the twins subjected themselves to the rope and followed along, carefully traversing the narrow bridge. Just in case though, Shiroi kept her wings summoned, only folded up and shrunk, while Kuroi decided to keep a hold of her hoverdisk, even if she couldn’t really use it. It turned out to be more useful than expected, as their leading member ended up slipping on ice and falling off the edge.

U-Umm, right away!” The mentioned sibling called out and motioned as if she was about to throw it like a frisbee, but hesitated at the very real possibility of overshooting her target, namely right under the phoenix. She still had little control over the disk afterall, she could make it hover but that’s about it, no directions could be given… unless…

Hurriedly, Kuroi scrawled more words onto the disk, not a property-changing code this time, but a command prompt meant for living beings. ‘Lift Fey back onto the bridge.’ Upon processing the prompt and tossing it gently towards the firebird, the disk would actually do as commanded, stopping right beneath Fey and slowly rising, aiming to give her footing and lift her back onto the bridge. Of course, that’s assuming the phoenix doesn’t come up with a solution of her own or panicked immediately.

"Oooh flying is a good idea too!" Fey would have remarked, but was busy pondering how and why dream-people needed to eat. "Good to know if we ever meet an army!" She cheered at their useful aquaintance.

"Ewwwoooh.. big spider. I can burn its web easy enough. geesh why are dreamspiders this big. yuck." She added, then looked at Aya "W.. what?" Seeming to sulk afterwards.

"Ugh, my dreams are no so full of.. things." She informed.

She eeped when she slipped and was kind of dangled forth and back, her arms instinctively almost going ablaze and winglike, until she heard erfeks warning.. "Hrmnn.." She sulked,. her fire rather under control with her being.. calm. She was always a calm personality when under fire, one way or the other, so she simply watched the disk and commented: "Hooh. Neat." As it elevated her back up to the bridge, where she'd flip off the spider, then continue her way down the bridge. "These dreamlands are trickier than expected. I thought it would be less.. I dunno.. real." She sulked, and, if they made their way over the bridge proper, de-roping herself, and letting herself be engulfed by more flames again, flexing. "Next time we just burn up the Nightgaunt horde. Compared to all the crap we find here those guys were pushovers." She suggested, hesitating, crossing her arms.

"Also, if theres no way out coming soon, I'ma burn one." She decided.

Re: A study in the eldritch (Lunaraia;Pervy;MortalitasBorealis)

As the platform caught Fey, Aya leaned back onto the bridge carefully, so as to not fall of herself. "Great work with the disk" she said as it was lifting Fey back up, giving Kuroi a smile and a nod, she then turned back to Fey "From your grumbling I take it you are OK?" she asked with a coy smile even as she gave the phoenix Girl a reassuring pat "Also it should not be much farther now" Aya snapped her fingers and the rope started to untangle itself from the group and coil itself up for easy collection, as she easily retrieved it.

The statement was true enough, only a few minutes after they crossed the bridge the temperature started to rise again and a mist started to become visible in the tunnel.
Erfek sniffed the air "Fresh air with this mist, the exit can't be far now" the Zoog notified, even as he said so Aya started to collect the light crystals and the reason why became evident pretty quickly, the area was getting brighter.
As the group rounded the final corner they would see the cave opening emerging in front of them.

The brightness would be pretty jarring after the half-gloom they had been exposed to in the tunnel, though this quickly was rectified as the group walked out of the small cave and got a look at the area around them.

Aya couldn't help but smile as she say the hills "Now this is a rare occurrence, it's not often that the hills are not shrouded in mist 24/7 and if it's not misty it is usually raining, best part is that the nastier locals tend to avoid the area when the sky is clear so we can just relax and enjoy the walk as it were, for a while at least" she smiled and walked over to a nearby creek and scooped up some water to drink.

Having quenched her thirst, as well as motioned for the rest of the group to do so as well, she looked around for a bit Hmm, if we follow the river we should be arriving Ulthar sometime tomorrow and if we are lucky and the weather holds we can have a quite safe and very pleasant night under the stars at that" she gave the girls a suggestive wink, even as she started down the hill towards the river.

The weather itself couldn't be more perfect it seemed, though in the east the gloom from the nightmare was still visible the temperature in the hills was, for now at least, quite pleasant with a slight breeze to stop the group, with exception from Fay, from getting too warm and the sun would warm them to a nice and toasty warmth as they walked without ever getting close to actually cause discomfort, the animals in the area also completely ignored the group, apparently humans were such a rare occurrence in the area that they creatures were simply not afraid of them, as proven when a herd of deer ran past the group only splitting up to avoid trampling them.

This was probably more like what the group had expected the place to be like when you heard the name Dreamlands, and if Aya's relaxed and even slightly giddy behavior and Erfek's lazy lounging on Aya's shoulder was any indication the girls could also relax and unwind from the tense and cold tunnel, overhead a flock of birds that seemed to sparkle in every color of the rainbow flew overhead and landed by the river to drink, creating a pristine and pretty sight for the group as they drew near.

"Heh. She's giving me a lift, get it?" Fey grinned, then shrugged. "I'm fine 's just.. strange, I mean, for starters we are all technically just sleeping comfily, for two, I dun wanna dawdle and leave mistress poisoned, stasis stuff or not. We haven't even gotten to the village to get the boat to get to the other place yet." She nodded, but did watch the rope-coiling curiously.

Fey looked up at the cave opening, keeping a small fireball in her hand after the experiences so far, but otherwise seeming relaxed after the short walk. "Mounte-y" She commented, not too creatively, once they had left the cave, peeking around and back over to the others.

"Why do we actually need to drink in a dream?" She added, having only a cautious handful, after all, the water extingquished her flames, and, although she was not quite truly one, she liked to believe herself a literal firebird in this world. "Huh. Dreamwater." She mused.

"Wait tomorrow? I do remember you said things go lots slower in a dream but geesh.." She wandered down the hills, impatiently tempered on her adventure. "Bit cool out here too." She remarked, the weather pleasant, but unsuprisingly not hot enough for her, as she took a closer look at dream-animals.. "So animals do dream too. Huh. Or are those natives. Dreamlands are confusing." She chuckled at the multicolored birds, though if the wandering took indeed several hours she'd likely peek left and right, strife off from the group for interesting sights, easy to keep track of with her flames ever so slightly singing the undergrowth, though not the type to sit still or just wander in a tranquil manner.
